These watches are pretty tough and renowned amongst divers.

    • But it doesn't seem to have a dive bezel, so not much of a dive watch

      • True, I meant the brand as a whole. They are a genuine 200m watch, not just pretending. Most divers use dive computers these days I think.

Appreciate your work OP. I just filled a childhood deficit by buying the classic Casio G-Shock…

    • Haha, nice one. I bought the larger Skmei 1134 to fill that void, you can get them for $7.59 in this post.
Not sure why Casio don't release a large version, they are leaving a gaping hole in the market.

  • Just arrived - [Momentum steel, green]. Only one band, watch battery flat. I have to shoot out but will chase that up later. It feels good, but only correct twice a day atm.

    • I know this might sound silly but have you screwed in the crown? Sometimes they come with it unscrewed to stop it running and wasting the battery.
Why did you think it would come with more than one band?

      • not silly at all :-),I pulled out to second stop, set the time [going past midnight] to fou pm, pushed in one click, set the date, then scewed in the cown. one unboing I checked showed two sizes [length] of band in the bo but that would have been gavy[apologies fo the spelling but two keys ae playing up afte a tea spillage lol]

        • What are you going to do? I would suggest you contact Amazon & return it.
They are very good with resolving any issues.

        • @28Degrees: Yep, I was going to e-mail them first. The watch is all I expected [ aside from not working ] but being a 20 ATM one I don't feel giving it to a booth in a shopping mall to replace the battery would be worth the risk of nullifying any warranty, inexpensive tho it was. I'll drop them a line and see what they say. It was well packed, so I am not thinking it is transit damage my only demurral is a bit of dead space between the 2nd and 3rd 'click' position and that the date change only operates to increase, not decrease the date [tried with watch set at 16:20]. Then again, I think I read a few sites stating that as a common flaw in some Seiko movements …

        • @terrys: I'm not sure what you mean by -

a bit of dead space between the 2nd and 3rd 'click' position

Also why do you need the date wheel to decrease? Just keep turning it until you reach the desired date.

How did you get on with returning it, did Amazon sort it out for you?

        • @WatchNerd: When I got it, I pulled the crown wheel out to set the time [ensuring I went past midnight], then pushed it in to set the date, and the date didn't change. It took a bit of jockeying pushing it fully in, then out before it 'clicked' into the date setting position. the date wheel only sets going forward, not going back. I mentioned that in case it may be related to the none starting, as I have had watched where you could roll back the setting as well as put it forward.
The seller has offered me a return label - in which I have to pay the return postage with tracking, or the offer of a replacement battery. I am not too chuffed, not just at present even being able to cover the return, not wishing to drop what I pay for the postage and ending up with nothing, but also seeing that they are also taking a loss on this, and are one of the few who will post out to Australia. The replacement battery looks OK, but any fitting of the battery will surely nobble any warranty they offer, and will not be of help if it is a defective item :-(
Over the weekend I had a 60th birthday to assist with and attend, we then had two > 36 days and then it was a public holiday in the U.S>. I was trying how to consider pointing out that the requirement to pay return postage shouldn't apply to a defective item, but am unsure of how to put it and unsure if it would help.
I don't have the feeling it is a case of a `dodgy' supplier', so was basically letting it go as one of those things unless others had had the same problem. I would prefer that they nominate a repairer here who could fit the battery rather than give this to someone who has had a YouTube video shown to him then given a stall in a shopping center, but I wouldn't expect that would be the case.
TL:DR I'm tossing up whether to throw a bit more money at it and see if a fresh battery fixes it, arguing for a full refund, or just sucking it down :-/ My response is moderated by the fact it is definitely a well made unit and the seller seems genuine in the offer of what they can reasonably do, not a piece of junk chucked in a box by some fly-by-night outfit.

I have just posted this [cut'n'paste with all the crap spellin] as a response to the offer of a battery. I guess that is the best way to go. Should I have to later pay a real jeweller to drop a new movement in this case I reckon I'd still be better of than someone who'd bought a dress bling unit from a department store for triple the price…
