TBH, anything from ToysRus is overpriced.

    • Couldn't agree more.

Unimpressed with our Thunder. A spring has broken, a pole has broken, we're on our third tent roof because the other two ripped. Would not recommend.

Watching their Youtube videos made the installation look like a breeze. It wasn't.

Our experience with customer service has been pretty substandard as well.

Absolutely not worth the premium over a standard trampoline.

Thanks OP. I sprung for this.

  • Can we turn this thread into a support group for people who can't put the (profanity) things together. Bought a 12ft, watched the video, but I can't get the last of the joiner poles to click on.

  • There are some left here at rydlalmere. Both large and medium. About 3 of each left.

    • They're out of the upgrade kit at Rydalmere though - kinda dumb not to save some for the tramps they have in stock :/

      • What's the upgrade kit?

The Vuly's at Bunnings have been around for months and don't come packaged with the new bolts. They're meant to give them to any Vuly owners that need them, but didn't save any for the ones in stock.

You can get upgrade kits from Vuly direct by registering your trampoline with them, but they won't arrive before Xmas.

edit: If you don't have the upgrade kit, probs best to hold off on assembling the trampoline!

        • +1

Spoke with them yesterday. Trampoline can be assembled & used with no concern for user safety or damage to product. 16 user's have reported problems from the 6000+ sold units re the push button system used in assembly. I do not have the kit, but do have kids - so I will be assembling it without a doubt, as them laughing & jumping on Christmas day will be priceless! Well worth the time I may spend installing the upgrade kit when it arrives.

        • @RandomNinja: Bunnings Marion South Australia just got a box of upgrade kits delivered today.

        • @micsav99:

The upgrade kit seems to just be 50mm x 8mm bolts (14 for the large).
I just bought bolts and put them in during assembly, This thing is a bitch to assemble - I don't want to take it apart in 2 weeks time!

        • @RandomNinja: the one I bought from Bunnings Beenleigh had the updated safety kit included.

        • @tomski182: Nice! Sadly my one did not :( Waiting til next week for the bolts to be delivered!

        • The upgrade kit detail is on the full vuly site but not mobile. It replaces the push buttons in the frame with M8×50mm cuphead galvanised bolts (80c each or 25 for $10 at bunnings). You need 14x for M/L and 16x for XL. I asked at my bunnings for the upgrade kit and they didnt have it but gave me the bolts for free. You really dont want to assemble it twice, it took us 3 hours.

  • I got the last 12ft at Fountain gate. Apologies to the other person that had already rang about it this morning!
    Scoresby have 10ft only left.
Cranbourne apparently have 4 12ft ones left.

    Thanks OP.

  • Bunnings northland still have both! Just got the large 10 minutes ago

  • Do these have that soft bouncing surface like at SkyZone etc or is it the usual stiff plastic stuff?

For the record, we bought a much cheaper 12ft one from either BigW or Kmart and it's lasted forever. Just looks less sophisticated and has more metal bits. Same amount of bird poo.

I bought and built mine last night, a few tips:

Watch the video linked above, I barely looked at the instructions.
Level ground is a must, otherwise the frame and spring connections will be painful.
Handy to have some kind of ratchet as I was building it by myself I couldnt bend the spring and pull the trampoline at once.
Follow the order the video says on installing the leaf springs, makes a huge difference I think.
Took me 2 hours to build on my own.

    good luck

    • I don't know you, but I am hating on you right now. 6 hours and counting…

      • whats the problem?

        • I can't get the remaining leaf springs to connect. The guy in the video makes it look so easy!

Edit: just bought a ratchet tie down set. Hopefully that helps.

        • @tomski182: are you using the tool they included in the box? Stupid question i know but i only needed the ratchet for 1 clip

        • @flashback: yep. The only thing I can think of is that the ground isn't perfectly flat.

        • +1

          @flashback:

The tool is crap. pushes the spring down towards the ground before it gets to the mat clip.

        • @SJDR:

It's a dilemma. You're trying to reach the hook with the leaf spring but the more you push it forward, it bends down and isn't any closer. If you feel/look around the hook, you can dig your fingers in or use the claw of a hammer etc to pull it closer but be careful to not tear the mat. The other thing is keep the leaf spring straight or else the mat will be skewed, and that will make the hook not align with the leaf spring.
I couldn't have put the large trampoline together myself so credit to anyone who has.

It took us about a couple of hrs. That's taking small breaks and encountering difficulties hooking the mat on the leaf spring.

        • @Frugal: did you watch the YouTube video? The guy makes it look frustratingly easy!

        • @tomski182:

Yes, I watched the video… I should have made a video of us putting it together. It would have been comical.

        • @Frugal: yeah I was thinking a video of me setting it up would have been hilarious too. I'm not an aggressive guy but I kicked it at least 20 times.
I've had to take three days off work, and just got out of hospital today. All because of the damage I did to my chest, trying to push the spring tool forward.

        • @tomski182: Holy smokes. I feel your pain…… Lets hope our kids appreciate the torture we put ourselves through.

  • Just bought one…thanks OP

Went to Mentone (VIC) and they had one 10f without the shade cover, got the last one from Keysborough.

I spoke to Vuly to see if they were current models. They are - apparently Vuly and Bunnings no longer have a contract so Bunnings is dumping them at below cost (which is causing Vuly some issues). So get them while you can but beware no more stock at Bunnings eva.

  • +1

I bought the large yesterday from Bunnings in Belmont. Came home and saw that I needed the upgrade kit. Rang Vuly was told to register online and that will trigger the upgrade pack to be dispatched. So did all that thinking I was going have to assemble for Xmas day then disassemble when it arrived a few days later. They posted it overnight express and it arrived this morning. So very happy

  • Holy Mother of God, that was an absolute (profanity) to put together.
    Never again!

    • I've pretty much given up and put a job on Airtasker for it.

      • +1

        That's a shame.

It needs 2 strong adults to do. I'm pretty handy and my 70yo father helped me.

Didn't help that we got it wrong 1st time and got half way through before starting again.
There's definitely a knack to it.

        • Just out of interest, what did you do wrong the first time?

        • +2

          @tomski182:

Didn't have the batch tag directly over a pole - the spacing on the mat clips is 10mm different over each pole than between poles so this is essential.
Also got carried away putting more springs on one side than the other which makes it very hard when you get to the other side. Need to go around evenly.
I also didn't put the net over and got half way through the springs before watching the video and realizing - just cost me a bit of time.

          couple of other tips:
When you get a tough spring to connect, pull the surrounding few springs across sideways towards the one you are trying to fit. This gives the mat a little bit more slack.

I found the spring pusher tool crap. The rubber bit sits too high on the spring and actually pushes it down towards the ground the further in you push. Sliding the cloth cover down the spring so the rubber sits on the metal bit of the spring helps.

Get your fingers in behind the mat clip to pull the mat towards the spring - don't try to pull the edge of the mat, you can't grip it and skin your knuckles trying, then you don't need to push the spring in as far.

Our ground isn't too level which probably didn't help.

Where are you from? Maybe there is a local ozbargainer who has done one that could help?

        • +1

@SJDR: thanks for the reply. Just paid $50 for three people from Airtasker to finish it off (they install a few trampolines a day). Even they thought it was faulty. Was such a relief to know that it wasn't just my incompetence :-P

        • @SJDR:

Also got carried away putting more springs on one side than the other which makes it very hard when you get to the other side. Need to go around evenly.

I just This is key - if you dont put the springs in evenly a 10 minute job will take 3hrs. Theres just not enough detail or tips in the instructions/videos to how you how to do this properly.

Im just happy to be alive at the end of it.

        • +1

Me too. My fingers are hurting today.

  • +2

Just finished building the 12ft vuly. What a bastard to build. Took around 4 hrs, used a ratchet tool to help. Never again. End product is very good though.

    • +1

Was such a prick of a thing. It's almost comforting that others are feeling the same pain. The tutorial video is like like a smack to the face.

      • +1

Funny you made this comment. I literally smacked my wife in the face with the spring tool when it slipped from my hand! Not funny then or now. She's a good sport though.

Couldn't complete the springs with wife and 4 small kids helping. Waited for people to arrive xmas day and getting 3 other guys to help. Was a b**ch but kids loving it now. Will definitely not take apart to put in upgrade kit. Thinking I will just pop the spring things out in situ, leave them in the tube and just put the bolts in to replace. Anyone tried this?

        • +1

You didn't happen to write a review on productreview.com.au did you? If not, you should. The thread is a hoot-http://www.productreview.com.au/p/vuly-thunder-1.html

        • @tomski182: No - did not write any reviews but looks like some similar experiences.

The problem with assembly is the spring tool engages the spring too high an pushes it down out of reach of the mat. The tool needs to connect lower to the spring and push it inward, not downward. My brother was pushing the bottom of the spring to get it far enough in.

  • Yep was definitely a biatch of a job. Took about 4 hours. Got a pack of 8x50mm bolts from bunnings instead of waiting for vuly to send some.

BTW if anyone wants either size trampoline Bunnings Altona has some left of each size

    • Strange that your tramp didn't include the 2016 safety kit. Should have had the bolts included.

      • For whatever reason it didn't come with any bolts in the boxes so really had no choice but to buy them. It was only $9.90 for a box of 25 at bunnings

        • +1

          They were in sunshade box

        • Really depends on how old the stock is - our sunshade box didnt include the bolts.

    • Gets quicker the more times you doit, i have gotten the assembly of my thunder pro down to under 40mins. As you can imagine i have moved a few times.

      • +1

If I ever move, I will drop a giant turd in the middle of it and then set the thing on fire. I will never, ever, assemble one of those things again. Currently on a sick day due to a fractured rib I incurred during installation. Merry Christmas Mr. 40 Minutes.

        • holy shit that is messed up. You may have grounds for a lawsuit ;0

        • @captobvious:

gosh!! Did you remember to put on the provided Vuly gloves????

I put the pole the wrong way (for the net) and boy did it take me forever to pull the pole out…. And imagine the weather the trampoline will endure. That would make it easy to pull apart.

  • Btw guys, don't make the same mistake as me and buy the ladder, wheels, and anchor kit. They're not compatible with these models.

    • +1

Thanks for that. Was thinking about getting the ladder.

  • Got the last L from Mt Gravatt. They had an M awaiting pickup for today. If it's there tomorrow you can probably take it. Not looking forward to the assembly …

  • There are still heaps left for both models in Balcatta, WA.

  • Bunnings Bonnyrigg have about 4 left in the M and L sizes. While there I picked up a $9.90 pack of M8 x 50mm cup-head bolts with nuts.

I already had a ratchet kit at home. Definitely recommended.

Installation was a breeze for the first 95%. The last last 5% took about 1.5hrs till I remembered the ratchet tie down trick.

  • Will the price reduce even further?

    • i dont think anyone would still have stock?

  • +1

Thanks op. Just bought one from Campbelltown Bunnings. They have 7 medium and a few large still in stock. Great price!
