You can also get a free trading card for voting in the game awards here: http://store.steampowered.com/SteamAwards/

So 3 free cards per day :)

    • Thanks, updated.

  • What was the previous price?

    • -2

And this again.. It depends on what trading card you get, whatever you get is what the previous price value was.

      • So the previous price is the current price?

        I think I understand now.

wow, thanks for the script, really easy. And I've just made 20 cents.

  • Can someone explain to me why people buy these shitty "trading cards"? I mean it's free money for me so I'm not complaining but I couldn't think of a worse way to waste money.

    • You can craft badges with it which give experience points to your Steam account, therefore progressing your steam level.

      • Which does literally nothing though right?

        • +1

No idea, it just makes you look 'cool'.

        • +3

Basically cosmetic. To actually get some tangible value (ie. DLC, games) the hourly rate of buying and selling efforts offset the benefits.

If anything its actually promoted the development of terrible 99c games that provide easy cards. Now the Steam store is flooded with shovelware that people buy to resell/trade cards.

        • @thisplus: Actually its not just cosmetic increasing your level gives you an increased chance of booster packs, which in creases your level and by virtue of more cards overall to sell gives you cheaper games. I have seen a few dollars savings just by virtue of the extra cards. Plus it also gives you a larger friend list, more discount coupons, etc.

        • Ah yes, fair enough - there are some tangible benefits to improving your profile through levels.

    • Hey you could be buying a Jackson Pollock for thousands of dollars…

    Trading cards, really?…
    This is worse than hats.

The script just saved a chunk of my time. No more annoyed clicking next

  • Also a card for each badge crafted during the sale.

I used to collect NBA cards. What do I do with them now.

  • -1

this must be an incredibly stupid question. But How do you actually get these? I game quite regularly but have no idae what trading cards are..

    • Steam has a pretty comprehensive faq on the matter:

      http://steamcommunity.com/tradingcards/faq

    • Check out Idle Master
      http://www.steamidlemaster.com/

Goes through your Steam library and collects all the cards without having to play the games. If you have a large library it does take a long long time (took about 4-5 days initially with my library of around 400 games at that time). Turn around and sell them for free Steam Credit. I got about $30-40 when I first used it.

      • Unfortunately I have a mac so won't be able to use the program.

        • Macs can run Windows.

  • I'm a bit confused as to how I get cards for "exploring games on sale". You mean looking at games that are on sale? Buying them? Playing them?

    • You just look at a few games randomly picked by steam, you have the option to add it to your wishlist, follow it or select 'not interested'. Or you can just hit 'next in queue' and you're a step closer to a trading card.

script amazing, well done OP. great post.

so people actually buy these things? crazy

i still need to find my NBA card collection, some of the michael jordan inserts are worth $50 or so still!

  • FFS I just bought eight games.

  • Cheers for the script.
Managed to snag a foil with one of the free cards and flipped it for about $0.44

    • Is this still working for you?

It says I've unlocked 12 trading cards but only 10 show up, is there a cap?

      • @G Wok: Did you find them? You may have 2 foils. They will be under a new group of badges: "The Steam Awards Foil". Worth much more than standard cards.

        • Hmm this is really odd it says I've unlocked 14 cards now and only 10 items in inventory still. Can't find foils anywhere, there's 1 age of empires foil in the 10 worth 26cents.

Maybe there is a cap to how many cards you can actually get because the 'you have unlocked 14 cards' link takes me to my inventory of 10 items.

        • @G Wok: You probably have duplicates. Look next to the card description and you'll see the quantity you have of that card in brackets, e.g. (2).

Oh, if you're going to sell, sell NOW. These cards will be unsaleable after 4am Pacific Time / 11pm AEDT tonight.

        • @MiniMoo:

          thanks for heads up!

        • @G Wok: Hmm… Could be I mis-read the expiry on the cards, or Steam has added a month to them. Now they expire 2/3/17… or is that 3/2/17? (Damn American date format.)

  • Tampermonkey: Not available for Firefox 45.0

    • Try greasemonkey

      • Yep that worked; thanks!

EDIT: Oh it looks like the script is only marginally faster than manually clicking NEXT button ourselves… I was expecting when clicking on view Discovery Queue it would instantly go straight to the end of the queue(instead of simulating me clicking next every time time for 11 times…) and net me a free card as a reward…..

  • Is there a specific level you have to be before you can receive the cards? Because I'm level 1 and went through the queue 2 times and it didn't give me any of the cards.

    • I don't think there is a specific level as it does not state so in the terms and conditions, that's weird.

      • +1

Must be level 8 or higher to receive these drops…..oh and it's kinda over now….so if yo udid it today to go through the queue well you're too late son!!
