Macpac - Vamoose V2 Child Hiking Pack $299.99 Shipped (RRP $500)

50

HI all,
Ive been eyeing off a child Hiking pack for a while and was looking at used ones on ebay. The decent (used) ones were going for up to $200 so I thought i'd check out how much they were brand new. I got onto the Macpac site and noticed they were $500 RRP down to $300 currently!

Went into the store and managed to get another 10% off for a total of $270 or 46% off! For the extra few dollars i'd rather buy brand new!

Great to get into your new years resolution of getting fit but always using the excuse of kids getting in the way :) and I should be able to get at least $100 for it when the kids have outgrown it!

I found this comparison of packs quite easy to read. https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=we…

Hope it helps someone out there!

Mike

    Child Hiking Pack

I guess that's one way of getting rid of them during the holidays…

  • Good on ya…I too bought a Halo Down jacket off them for $100 (RRP 279). The RRP is exaggerated though and is closer to their sale price.

They have sales all year long and unlike many other companies that sell clothing and have to regularly get rid of old stock through sales, the kinds of macpac and Katmandu change their stock very slowly. The only reason for sales is that the RRP is way too high and they know it.

I have seen Halo Down for 3 years now without any change in design etc. albeit with sales every now and then.

Yep, as per the above post Macpac and (even more so) Kathmandu have all year round sales. 40% at Macpac is basically the rrp and 50% off and Kathmandu is the rrp. Macpac has better quality stuff so at least you went to the better store 😊

  • Sounds like a good price though your link doesn't actually compare the Vamoose?

Whoops, it compares the possum which is a grade below… So the vamoose must be better :)

Trialed it today in preparation for a hike at Wilsons Prom tomorrow. Was pretty comfy for a few hikes up the 1000 steps. Should be comfier at wilsons being a flatter walk.

      • Nice - how was the pack on your hike? Tried it on in store and it seems fairly comfortable. One other question - how did you get the extra 10% off for $270?

        • It was good. We did Mt Oberon at Wilsons Prom which is an easy graded track 90% of the way. Very comfortable the whole way and little miss had a good sleep with the sun shade on. The extra 10% was a staff and family offer (the rep just gave me a card to use) I am not staff nor have any family working there.

  • has anyone tried the aldi one? it was on sale some time ago. Obviously inferior quality but also substanially cheaper
i'm tempted to get this macpac one though

  • Nice work Mike. We picked up a Macpac one at a a 2nd hand store in a ritzy coastal town for $40. Great to be able to still go hiking places with a little one securely on board. And resale is no issue.

    • That's a bargain! I wanted one for a hike on Sunday instead of using the baby bjorn (especially because it is so hot). I think I was sweating more with this one though because I was carry extra weight (snacks and drinks) :)

I've never seen the Aldi ones
