1440p 100+Hz Gaming monitor.

I was looking for at least 1440p at something above 60Hz for that buttery smoothness in games. I was looking at the Acer G-SYNC XB280HK since it was on sale for boxing day down to 549 but on the boxing day advertisement it states its a 4k at 144Hz, even the product page says it but looking into the monitor more i found out it's only 60Hz.

So i'm looking for another monitor that i could get for cheap. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Happy Holidays!

    4k at 144Hz

ATM there's no 4K monitors with a refresh rate above 60 AFAIK. G-SYNC does make a huge difference to 60Hz without G-SYNC though as far as visual quality and percieved smoothness though compared to a normal 4K monitor.

But 3440x1440 or 2560x1440 at 100-144z will look smoother still.

    • That's exactly what made me do a double take. But i'm one of those people that think 4k is a luxury and i'm more than happy with 1440, 100+Hz. I'm just looking for one that's on sale/well priced.

4K is silly if you want my opinion :P

        Here's Tom's view on what's best http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-gaming-monitors,453…

Note that there's seperate 144Hz and G-sync sections (some G-sync monitors will do 144hz)

        • I actually agree. 1440p is more than enough for me and no discernible difference to 4k. Thanks for the link, will look into it

After seeing 4K game footage first hand, I can tell you I'm a believer.
          I was always a 1440p advocate.
However, with 4K's improved density, I've noticed you can actually crank quite a few graphical settings down and it would still look better than a 1440p gaming image.

Ofcourse, to get anywhere near a >45fps on 4K High graphics, you need a GTX 1070 or a 1080, a Core i5/i7 and no bottlenecks.

        • @Kangal:
I know what you mean, i'd be an advocate if i weren't playing games like league, overwatch, csgo etc where frames would be better than quality. Besides i run a 970 that can't push 4k at a good fps anyway. Cheap 4k at 100+ Hz can't come fast enough

        • @rickyygee:
If you get interested in any 4K gaming, or graphically intense games more like BF1 (and less eSports)…
….the 970's pretty good for SLI.

As much as I hate SLI, its a really cheap upgrade ($200) path.
I've seen people who've bought a second 970 and it performs faster than a GTX 1070 but slower than a GTX 1080. Just watch your PSU, cooling, noise and electricity costs.

  • Have you looked into whether you want a TN or IPS monitor?
