Question Regarding Supplementary Card Holders Applying for New CC

My wife is currently the supplementary card holder in both our Westpac & Coles credit cards so when she applies for new credit card in her own name, does she still need to list our current cards in her application given she isn’t the primary card holder?

She works full-time and meets qualifying annual income so to maximise sign-up points, we’re going to apply for the A/E and ANZ cards separately.

Thanks in advance for all feedback.

Don't believe so as the credit is attached to you as the primary card holder only.

  • Is the card in her name or yours?, even though that wouldn't matter

I think it would be linked to you to be honest, as the debt racked up on the card is linked to your primary account so it would affect your credit history, you are just authorizing another party access to your "credit limit"

Thats how I see it anyway

This is how westpac explains it

I would assume its much the same for all Banks tbh

She does not need to declare it as the account is in your name so you are responsible

  • so one person can just apply for many many supplementary cards? its good especially for amex offers

  • Thanks all. Thought that was the case with the credit limit counted against the primary car holder (me)only but just wanted to double check b4 we both apply for cards separately.
