What use is a Wii these days?

Hey was clearing out cupbaords found a Wii all boxed up from like five years ago, almost brand new.

Also 2 x Wii fit boards brand new

Q1: what are some inovative uses of Wii other than as gaming machine cause I havet got time to game on it now?

Q2: What charity can I donate it to, maybe a kids hospital in Perth?

    A) Donate it. Probably the best option.

    B) Hack it.
Nintendo has stopped supporting it officially since 3 years ago. So its upto you and the community for support.

What can you do with a hacked Wii ?
    1 - Play DVDs
2 - Use it as a Media Centre for photo slide, music, or videos.
3 - Create a digital picture puzzle, and solve it with the Wiimotes
4 - Remove the region lock, to allow you to play games from all regions (games are cheap)
5 - Use it for retro gaming from Atari, Sega, NES, SNES, GBA, N64, PS1 and DOSBox.
6 - Use it to natively play (pirated) GameCube games
7 - Use it to natively play (pirated) Wii games
8 - Use it to play Homebrew games

…but then again the stuff above could be done just as easily on an Android TV Box, weak PC, or other modded consoles like a X360 and PS3.

  • ill give you a tenner.

  • I'm sure kids in the hospital would love some gaming consoles, but I don't think the hospital would take them, due to safety/liability. Same as Salvos & St.Vinnies won't take any electrical appliance.

    • Really, so I cant even give it away?

Might just throw it on gumtree to give to any charity who wants it.

      • Maybe not them, but I know Savers takes video game consoles.
