Laptop That Will Run Overwatch. Available On A $800 Budget?

My Stepson is after a laptop that will run Overwatch at an acceptable level. (He has a dedicated gaming tower for his normal gaming needs)

JB have a machine that seems to barely meet the minimum specs? (GPU)

His budget is $800 can you all suggest something that is more suitable as the GPU above seems to not even be up to the minimum specs needed to run the machine.

PS. Bloody hard to work out what is close to the recommended specs

Many thanks for any help you can provide!

  • I run overwatch on a Lenovo E560
Runs fine on the dedicated GPU
for 800 bucks you are looking at maybe going down the second hand road and getting a cheap last gen laptop with a decent GPU

    • G'day Shawn

What are the specs of your Lenovo?
      Thanks!

      • Nothing flash
        i7 6500U 2.6ghz
        16gb ddr3 ram
        512gb Sata SSD HDD
        Radeon R7 M370 2048MB GDDR5

        15.6 Full HD LCD

        Handles it fine

  • Comparing the minimum specs required vs the GPU in the Dell from JB.

    Gives the following results

    Pretty poor?

Just visit NotebookCheck's Overwatch benchmark page.

      http://www.notebookcheck.net/Overwatch-Notebook-and-Desktop-…

It shows you all the most popular graphics chips and how they score in overwatch.

To make it easier to see, I cropped out the large table and have zoomed into the 'budget' laptop graphics section.

GREEN means it runs well, RED means the performance is lousy.

You'll want a GPU that can handle Medium at around 40 FPS or more. The Nvidia 940MX for e.g is a good pick.

MSY is currently selling the ACer E5-774G-67NH for $849 with that GPU.

Look at the JB Hifi laptop, the GPU is pretty anemic. I wouldn't get that.

      • According to your chart my Onboard graphics can run it at 40fps on low
and my discrete amd can run it at medium :)

        Cheering

According to Craigoss there is a $800 dollar laptop with 940MX.

Not sure if true or not, if so it's a very good deal since 940MX laptops usually go for much higher.

  • Thanks very much.
Per the Acer Website these are the specs.

    Hopefully no surprises and
I will be getting the Acer tomorrow morning.
