Great find. Been using the ESET mobile security for some time, so this comes handy. Thanks!

  • Is this version battery friendly? I have been using Kaspersky free version but unsure if I should switch to ESET on my android phone.

    • Ive just checked battery usage for last 20 hours and its used 1%

  • Any idea when this deal end?

  • Why people install virus scanners on their phones is beyond me.

    • Cos ive had a virus on my phone yes my silly fault….. my phone is my all in one i download everything and youll be surprised what they do catch as i was, im so surprised what they do find and the phishing filter is great and all the other info that it gives you what tracks you what uses what etc etc, i would rather be safe than sorry. And then there was this from march 2016 https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.news.com.au/technology/o…

      • Gmail prevents virus/malicious files in mail, Android doesn't allow apps to be installed outside of the app store. The rest is common sense. If you download illegal apk's then you are asking for it.
The negatives on performance and battery life is a much bigger deal for me as an example as I don't download apk's and use Gmail.
Also know that most virus scanners create many false positives

    • I know this is old, but: are you kidding!?

(Must be one of these people that use their phone to make calls.)

Serious note: I've browsed to a webpage using my phone, that then hijacked it - wouldn't let me back up, or close the browser, or respond to the home page… Phone vibration was buzzing, heating up like a frypan… and put up a fake message "your battery has a virus", lol. And no I don't visit pron sites.

Btw folks… there are plenty of apps that are not 'safe', just because they're on Google Play. I installed one that was supposed to only be a map of free wifi spots other users like you enter. Somehow it sent the author my home wifi router password, which he then changed to something else, and locked me out. I tried to login to the router. Password rejected. Realised what it was immediately. Had to do a factory reset. Removed app.

      • I'm an IT professional.

Anyway the point is that apps like your browser might have security holes in it too, no virus scanner will fix that.
