Sennheiser HD471G - $89 (Down from $179) @ JB-Hi-Fi

100

Sennheiser HD471G Over- Ear Headphones for Samsung and Android.

Comfortable fit due to the ergonomic design.

Detachable single-sided cable with in-line remote.

Optimal connectivity to home stereo equipment with gold-plated plugs.

I have not listened to these, so I cannot give my opinion on their quality. They're at half-price, and Sennheiser is one of the best headphone brands in the world, however don't expect audiophile grade quality from these headphones. It's an average set, for a good price it seems.

Here's a review of the equivalent, Sennheiser HD471i (The iPhone version):

      for audio yes
      for controls/mic no

      Quote:
The standard 3.5mm headphones (no in-line controls on the cable) use the configuration of (from left to right)
TRS- Tip, Ring, Sleeve. The pinout for these connections is: Left Audio, Right Audio, Ground.

Connection types for headphones with a mic (and newer ones with volume control) are configured in
      TRRS- Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve.
On TRRS there are 2 types-
      1. The original TRRS configuration was created by Nokia and has a pinout of Left Audio, Right Audio, Mic, Ground.
      2. Apple came along and in typical elitist fashion changed their pinout to Left Audio, Right Audio, Ground, Mic.

Sennheiser 400 series have passable quality, best bang for the buck, and definitely wonderful for a first headphone. Used to have an HD490 all throughout late 90's and 2000's.
