Airline from Australia to Hanoi? Or internal flights to Hanoi?

Most tours include hotel pick up from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay and back to Hanoi

Budget airline air asia flys to Hanoi transit in KL. I would probably just do a stopover in KL - great food, shopping & it's cheap. Getting to Hanoi you can book that when you get there. Lots of travel agencies around and its dirt cheap (last time i think we paid less then $20pp). I'm not sure where Vin Pearl is but we bought the cheap tour which was by minivan… And it was a lonng lonnng lonnnggg ride from hanoi and the bus was overpacked! Probably not the most ideal way of transport but we survived. Maybe you should find out the Vin Pearl has any better transportation alternative.

Vietnam .. once is more than enough.

  • If you use Vietnamairline, it will transit in HCM city. Otherwise, you can use other airline and transit in other countries (Malay airline, Thai Air, Sing Air). The cheapest flight you could find is Air Asia and may transit in Malaysia. You will fly to HN and then catch a bus to Ha Long Bay (around 80kms).

  • I flew Cathay Pacific - was cheapish but a little longer in the air. Very good quality though and they often have sales

I went in October 2016 and booked Ha long through this company (http://www.vegatravel.vn/) as recommended by locals. Pretty good, balance of touristy/off the track.

In terms of getting to Ha long bay - it sucks no matter who you go with. Make sure you bring headphones and some music/audiobook, its the better part of 4 hours with one stop! All are usually on a minibus and packed!

    Amazing and worth it!

  • Just came back from Saigon last week,I have been to Vietnam 5 times, love it :)

  • I also flew Cathay Pacific in November to Hanoi, and stopped at Hong Kong, for under 700. Wait for a sale.
