I've been in the market for a new microwave and this seems like a good price for a name brand one.

Some microwaves don't have a turning platter anymore, some Panasonic, sharp and LG. This means you can put a takeaway pizza for reheating straight into the microwave in its box, as it doesn't rotate.

They do take longer than a normal microwave to reheat even with same claimed wattage.

  This is strange, I would have thought all Microwave Ovens rotate otherwise, the food won't be evenly-ish heated.
  
  Perhaps the one you bought from the garage sale was broken?
  
  EDIT: I just googled and I'm behind the times, 'flat bed' microwave ovens don't have a turntable

    Some microwave don't have turntables. Commercial microwaves don't have turntables, instead they have stirrer arm under the base and in the top.
    
    Another time to also take note with LG microwaves is that they are not designed to be used in a built in space or cavity. They should be free standing otherwise warranty could be void.
