  • Will it work with an Aldi sim?

    • +1

MF910V is locked to Telstra Network.
Even though Aldi uses Telstra Network, I am not sure if Telstra Mobile Broadband Manager software in the MF910V will allow Aldi sim to connect. Correct me if I am wrong.

        It should work

      • +2

Previous Telstra prepaid things have worked with Boost, but not ALDI or Telechoice (all 3 are Telstra MVNO, but Boost is owned by Telstra).
So I wouldn't think it likely.
Ebay says the device can be unlocked for $3, but I have no first hand experience.

        • True, some providers still require an unlocked device regardless of using the same network.

Thanks Steve, also includes 2GB data.

  • I just went onto coles online and it only has the 3 wifi broadband items that aren't on special. I don't know if that means you have to go in store or there are none left. Anyone seen these at other coles besides Ivanhoe?

  • Thanks for the link. I rang coles online customer service and because the stores nearest to my postcode don't have the stock, I cannot order it online. I would have to physically find a store that supplies the stock such as Ivanhoe suggested by OP

  • Thanks OP. However the Optus E5573 4G modems are more convenient when on special because they have been unlocked (so far as I know still are) and you don't have to mess around with manually changing APN settings every time you switch out a sim to a different provider. It doesn't have the best battery life though (Don't know how it compares to this one)…That's less convenient you can mitigate that if you're near mains or own a portable charger.

I miss the proper LCD displays though like my MF91 where you don't have to intepret traffic light colours to work out if you have decent reception. I think Telstra still have one with an LCD but it's not cheap. The MF91 did require changing APN when swapping between providers.

Anyway I have too many of these already so this deal isn't for me but I believe this is a decent unit if you're looking for one and are only going to use it with Telstra.

  • Search on ebay item # 151480556866

Cost me $3 to unlock this device. Got the code in less than an hr. Make sure u put in the message ur imei though.

Once unlocked…. No need to muck around with settings etc etc when using other Network sim. Plonk in other sims and itll work.

    • What's the battery life like?

      • Misssus reckons about 6hrs. If u need longer just buy a batt pack like those xiaomi that goes on sale here.

        • Yep I own portable chargers. Pain to carry around though.

    • If you dont mind sharing, what other provider are you using in this? Have you tried optus/virgin mobile?

      • I interchange sims between telstra and optus. Havent tried it with vodafone.

  • Has anyone tried this modem overseas? Philippines in particular?

Does anyone know if the Optus Huawei e5573 is on sale anywhere?
