Cheers for this, might give the blood orange a try. The lemon isn't excellent (or even good imo) but for $6 I reckon blood orange should be worth a punt.

  • THZ PO, will try the orange

  • +4

Still have some left from some free 6 packs I got from Ozb a few years ago. Worth $6 I reckon. Thanks OP.

    • +3

worth $6 if you pay me to drink. not sure about the blood orange but the lemon is dreadful

    • +4

If u still have some from years ago why am I thinking its not worth $6?

  • +2

I enjoy these. They're sweet and a poor excuse for beer, but delicious all the same. Low alcohol content too.

    • -1

How is low alcohol content a good thing?

      • +5

Can sink a few at a BBQ without going over the limit?

  • +3

Lemon one was horrid. Too sweet. Not sure its even worth $6 to be honest.. still have some left over from the free deal.

    • I wouldnt drink it for free nor give it to my worst enemy.

        What about your best friend?

        • +2

          I'll give to my wife

          @chowmanly:

Ouch! Hopefully your wife isn't a lemon like a Pacific Radler.

I believe all Radlers have 2% alcohol. They are basically a soft drink with beer in it and don't taste great. I just checked the price at DM and a 24 pack is $30 so it isn't a huge saving/deal.

    • Yeah not a fan of Radlers.

    • +3

True, but still a good price for a 6 pack to test.

    • +1

Doesn't sound like something I'd like… especially with the 2% alcohol part… may as well drink a coke instead

    • +1

Can you imagine having to drink 24 of them? Torture

    • As a German, I can confirm that this is the closest thing to real Radler I have found in Australia so far (bottled, at least).
Not a great one, but does it's job on a hot summer day, when you want to stay sober but lemonade is too sweet.

Yes, Radlers always have 2-3%. It's half beer half lemonade really.

Not going to buy it for full price though since it is CUB.

      • What other radlers have you tried here, may I ask? Would like your opinions.

        • Well, there's one from Monteiths and while that isn't bad, it's not a Radler at all, but rather a lemon flavoured beer.

I guess if you really want a nice Radler, the best way is to get a beer you like and mix it yourself. Schweppes lemonade works better than Sprite as it's a bit fresher and less sweet, I find.

As for beers, in Germany you would use Pilsner for it, Lager is close enough. I found that Pale Ales work very well too, although technically not a Radler any more.

If you are generally keen on drinks like this, try Diesel (Pilsner + Cola), Panache (something French, very little alcohol, but very refreshing) or Bananenweizen (Wheat beer + banana juice, which seems hard to find here though).

  • Blood orange radler? That sounds interesting.

    Thanks OP.

  • thanks a fair ApĆ©ritifs if there is ice crystals in the bottle. thanks

  • +1

This is equivalent to $12 for 4% ABV worth of alcohol.

Could be better off grabbing one or two Pacific Ales instead.

  • +3

This "drink" is dreadful. Save yourself $6.

P.S. Only tried the lemon, not brave enough to try other flavours

  • +2

Tried both flavours and prefer the lemon but both are pretty average IMO.

  • +5

I gotta agree with most commenters, I've tried both flavours as I went to a gathering last year where the host put some on, and they're both awful. If you like soft drink, just buy some for cheaper than $1 a bottle. If you like beer, you can get a decent one for not much more than $1 if you buy in a slab.

People might want to try the bee Mead and sunshack cider deal instead if you missed it. The honey spice is nice. And pear mango cider was not bad. $6 for 5 standard drinks.

    • Local BWS here had never heard of Sunshack Cider. Tried 2 Beer meads instead, no dice.

Why would I pay $6 to drink cat piss?

  • Just tried to redeem the voucher but it didn't really work. When I clicked 'Redeem now' it said something like 'voucher redeemed successfully'. The guy at the counter said he needs a barcode to apply the discount correctly, but there was none.
He was nice enough to give me the discount anyway though.
