how's this one compare to Viofo A118 ?
Both have decent daytime video.
G1W-C is cheaper and has slightly brighter night time video.
The main advantage of A118C is it is a lot smaller and discreet. I always describe G1W-C as "sticking out like a sore thumb" on the front windscreen.
118/119 you have to stick onto the windscreen. 3M stickers are very strong. Can be difficult to remove and clean the screen later if you do want to sell your car, or if you have tint at the rear and you want to use this for the rear. Solution is to cut out the tint area where the sticker is to be stuck.
From experience, I've taken off a few of the 3M stickers. Very strong indeed. Had to forcefully lift off the dashcam with a spoon temporarily and pull off.
OK Thx, but lots of review saying this G1W-C died after 6 months or bricked after firmware update… wonder if A118 durability is better?
The G1W can definitely be a game of chance depending when it was made and who you bought it from.
I got a G1W-H from ebay and it's been going for 18 months now, but as you said family and friends had them die in months.
I've personally not attempted a firmware update as the firmware it came with did everything I wanted and had no bugs.
