[PC] [Pre-Order] Mass Effect: Andromeda Deluxe Edition $69.99 AUD (-30%) @ Origin

180

Hey ozb,

First time poster here. Found this deal on Origin.

Unlike the Standard Edition ($59.99), I thought the Deluxe edition was a steal at this price. It includes:

  • Deep Space Explorer Armour (comes with Standard Edition)
  • Nomad Skin (comes with Standard Edition)
  • Multiplayer Booster Pack (comes with Standard Edition)
  • Pathfinder Casual Outfit
  • Scavenger Armour
  • Pathfinder Elite Weapon Set (4)
  • Pet Pyjak
  • Digital Soundtrack
  • Multiplayer Deluxe Launch Pack

Remember: Members of Origin Access garners another 10% off the discounted price

Searched around for a bit and found that ozgameshop sells it as well but does not mention which edition. Assuming Standard Edition. Prices and links below:
$65.99 with CD
$62.99 CD key only

Nope, Origin bills in local currency, so that's $69.99 AUD.

Updated the title just in case

I honestly feel that preordering games is making the industry worse

    • -4

      How so in this scenario?

This is preordering off a digital distribution platform, so it's not like you're going to be waiting days/weeks afterwards because the store ran out of stock or because your disc is in the mail.

      • +8

if there is no risk of running out of stock, then why do you need to pre order. you dont like holding onto your money?

        • +1

Because it's cheaper and I was going to buy the game on release for full price anyway…

If I don't like it I can just ask for a refund:
          https://www.origin.com/aus/en-us/store/great-game-guarantee

        • +2

@eecan: the price of games goes down after release

how do you know its currently cheaper?

and theres a cost of it possibly being a shit game

they also announced no season pass which could mean free dlcs, overpriced dlcs or no DLCs

        • @furythree:

I didn't say the game wouldn't be cheaper now than after release, I said it would be cheaper than release day.

If it is bad I'll just refund it via Origin. Easier than a CD key reseller or retailer.

No season pass sucks but is still a net improvement over old model with Bioware Points. There have almost been no sales for Bioware Points or Mass Effect DLC but season passes and standalone DLC are included in all major Origin sales.

        • @furythree: You've not played a Mass Effect game have you? 🤔

        • +2

Because I likely won't be able to get 30% off on launch day and I am very much looking forward to playing this game, so don't want to wait for a sale after launch. You don't like paying reduced prices for things?

        • @Tal_Shiar: ive finished the whole series except the final mission because i am in denial and dont want the story to end

        • @Domingo: you think $70 for a pc game is a good deal?

      • +9

Worse as in the quality of the games is dropping off.

When people mindlessly preorder before waiting for reviews, it shows developers/publishers that they can put out incomplete games and people are still willing to buy them. Have you seen the number of games which have been broken on release day or which require huge Day 1 patches nowadays?

        • +1

That's OK - what they cut due to time or budget constraints they'll always just re-sell as DLC later. :-s

        • +2

exactly. Case in point. No Man's Sky.

At least with Origin though, they have a greatgame guarantee so if you bought from their store, you can get a refund if the game isn't up to your expectations.

Still, I wouldn't pre-order. Digital games don't run out of stock..

You may return EA full game downloads (PC or Mac) and participating third party titles purchased on Origin for a full refund. Refund requests can be made within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within seven days from your date of purchase, or within seven days from the game's release date if you pre-ordered, whichever comes first. And if you purchase a new EA game within the first 30 days of its release date and can't play it due to technical reasons within EA's control, you can request a refund within 72 hours after you first launch the game instead of 24.

          1. Visit your Order History and select the Request a Refund link next to any eligible product.
          2. Complete and submit the Refund Request Form.
          3. You'll get a response within 48 hours and your refund within 10 days.
        • Spot on. Anyone remember Battlefield 4 on launch?

        • @tanabe88gg:

BG4 turned out to be a great game in the end though.

StarWars BF on the other hand is flopping about like a fish on dry land.

There are only about 7.9k active players (peak) on PC platform, while the console variants are geting well over 20k players at peak hours. Guess the game was a bit too shallow / casual for the PC gaming race.

BioWare have always delivered solid games. I wouldn't (and didn't) pre-order Battlefield or COD, but Mass Effect is a lock. Comparing it to No Man's Sky is a slap in the face.

        • @Putnum:

This is an excellent point. BioWare has never disappointed me with any of their games

    • +5

I agree - as excited as I am for this game I have never and never will pre-order.

Having said this, it's very rare to see a pre-order sale, so I can see why people would consider this a bargain.

    • +1

I feel this pre-ordering in Early Release and alpha release state in Steam is killing game quality I think.

  • +3

FYI, Origin Access only gives 10% off the original price, so it works out to be an extra 7% off, not an extra 10%.

Great deal though, preorders pretty much never go on sale on any of the main stores (bar GMG), and even then, usually only about 20% off. Bought the Super Deluxe edition for $75… pretty damn good in my books.

    • Ah my bad. Didn't know that. I'll reword it anyway. Thanks for the update

    • only gives 10% off the discounted price, I should say

      • Does the Super Extreme Turbo XP Deluxe Ultimate Limited edition just give you the extra multiplayer boosts? $75 ain't bad.

        • Yeah I think so. But given how grindy ME3 multiplayer's unlocks were, I have no problem at all paying a bit more for that.

  • +5

If you use a VPN to switch to the Singapore Origin store, preordering would cost $62.93 in SGD for this deluxe edition, making it around $59.53 AUD (according to Google)

    • I'd be cautious with using a vpn, my origin account was locked because of this.

  • does origin great game garuntee include preorders ?

    • It states the game is eligible on my receipt, so I suppose.

    • +1

Yep it does. According to Origin, it says:

      Refund requests can be made:
Within 24 hours of first launch of the game, or
Within seven days from date of purchase (if you have not launched the game), or
Within seven days from the release date if you pre-ordered the game (if you have not launched the game), whichever comes first.

      • anyone know when this sale ends ?

        • I think it is more likely this is a bug that made all games 30% off. It will probably be fixed soon.

        • @Letrico:
guessing that its still pending and some others say the same (havent been charged) im thinking the same oh well no skin off my back :) ill just wait till after launch for a good price

        • @AliensStoleMyMoney: Oh origin doesn't charge up front when you preorder. That is why you don't actually get charged the full price but like a $1.

  • +1

Unless you get something physical ie like a special over, T-shirt etc Pre-ordering is 99% of the time not worth it.

It about 80% of cases the digital stuff you get in the pre-order is just what the game comes with standard and you can almost always find the game cheaper then the pre-order price within 2 weeks of release.

  • origin.com is coming up as a blank page for me. Waddup with that? Works on my phone though… that's weird.

  • Has anyone's account been charged? Mine hasn't been, despite getting a receipt and my order status saying I've been billed. Do they charge now, or on release?

    • Same here. Maybe wait 24 hours?

  • I have a feeling this game with be a turd. Mass Effect games got worse as the series went on. Stupid story and the ending…..speaks for itself. Im gonna wait and see with this one.

  • +2

    if you are old enough to remember the last time you were stung when you pre-ordered, then remember this;

    NEVER F*^%ING PREORDER!

It is NEVER in the customers best interests.

    • +1

If you are old enough, game costs are barely causing a dent in the wallet.

  • +4

Please DO NOT preorder games. This is a terrible practice and is ruining the industry.

  • +2

I have to add to the chorus here:
Don' pre-order. It's simply not in your best interests to do so.
Savings might seem nice, but games are cheap on release anyway.

    • Preordering on Origin does not take any payment. It charges you on release. If you are planning to pick up the game on release, might as well just preorder on origin to get pre order bonus.

  • idk for all those saying dont preorder id agree massively (i hate you ubisoft one day ill beable to play ghost recon future soldier on pc)

but now companys are forcing the return after launch (origin great game garuntee , steam refund etc)

seeing as they still dont get the money if its a bad game is it still a bad thing preordering as they wont make money proberly lose money if its bad and people refund ? (i will never preorder normally but for $52.99 for this game im really considering it as i love the series)

  • +1

FYI, every single pre order title is 30% off too, 37% off if you have origin access.

  • -3
  • +1

To all the people complaining: how about you do what you want with your money, and I'll do what I want with mine.

    • So do I have to complain before I do that?

  • Has this expired? I can't see the deal anymore?

    • +2

      Yeah, it has expired.

      • End dated the deal. Thanks for the heads up
