Oppo F1S Vs. Samsung J5 Prime-- What Would You Choose & Why?

Hi all,

I finally settled & purchased a laptop for my daughter. We're now after an outright mobile (hers had a freak accident & managed to slip & hit a 3cm spot of tile, in an ocean of carpet, & smash the camera & screen). She'd really babied it so I felt bad & now it has a continuation crack across the entire screen- time to upgrade for uni.

So, my query is this: if it were you & you had the choice, which would you pick? I ask as I can't really find any good, real-world, comparisons online.

Oppo F1S

or

Samsung J5 Prime

And why would you make the choice you make? Both are within about $20 in price.

For her, the rear camera is kind of important.

Cheers & ta for your very valued input!

:)

Oppo F1s is a good phone, from what I have heard.
I would not go for a cheap Samsung phone. Their high end ones sometimes struggle.

Maybe an iphone 5s? Around this budget, too.

    • Thank you

      5.1 vs 6?

      Worth worrying?

  • Does the ZTE Axon mini not fit the bill? I'm pretty sure the Axon beats the Galaxy J5 Prime when it comes to spec

    • If you didn't want a re-write?

  • I'd choose whichever is the toughest phone in case it suffers from the same fate. I've read good reviews of the Oppo F1S having good build quality but don't know anything about the Samsung J5.

I'm a huge fan of Huawei smartphones for value and toughness. We've owned three different models of Huawei smartphones and they have all survived drops onto the ground.

    • Thanks.

I'm wondering the importance of 5.1 vs 6?

      Will Oppo advance or?

      Ta

      • If your daughter is an average user then the version of Android really is a low priority. Every smartphone since Android 2.2 can make calls, photos, display weather, internet, social media, create a wifi hotspot.

If you are still interested in the differences between the Android versions then search YouTube = "Samsung J5 Marshmallow vs Lollipop"

        Will Oppo advance or?

Yes. Oppo is currently working on its Android 6.0 update for the F1S:

Though Samsung will probably release an Android 7.0 update for the Samsung J5:

    Redmi note all the way

  • I would consider the Sony XA for $169 if, as the comments suggest, it can be unlocked for free. It is a very nice looking phone, a relatively new model and the camera seems to be not too bad, especially for the price
