  • What proof do you you need to provide to show that the account holder is a student?

    • Applicants must show their student or apprentice proof including:
      • Student ID card
      • Public Transport Concession Card
      • Letter from educational institution
      • copy of the letter from your State or Territory training authority confirming registration of your apprenticeship

      • All or just one of those?

        • Apologies just one of those.

  • my kids finally applied online, but no branch can be found in Melb to pick up the cards, other than CBD??
their website for branch locations was terrible and inaccurate! can't believe it's for a bank

    • +1

I am sorry to hear about this. St. George does not currently have branches in Victoria. Apologies for the inconvenience

      • so, we can't pick the cards up unless going interstate?
also, according to https://www.stgeorge.com.au/locator, there're 8 branches in Vic!

        • +2

Bank of Melbourne is the victorian equivalent, worked for me last time they had this promotion.

  • +1

God damn it took way longer than expected for the money to be deposited the last time this promotion was on.

  • At least it doesnt require you to wait 16 years for 200 bucks - or even until April before you get to know the full T&C's. LOL

  • they never have had many branches in Victoria (OLD CUSTOMER)They belong to westpac

  • Is there a minimum age?

    • I don't think so, as long as you can show documents to prove you're a student.

        1. To be eligible for a Visa Debit card you must have an Australian residential address and be over 14 years of age. If you're not eligible for a Visa Debit card, apply for a Freedom card to access your account.

So I guess it's only a min age requirement for Visa Debit card. Not sure about min age for the whole account tho. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Hety rep,

I see that you have to have an Australian residential address. Can you have that but have a po box as a postal address?

    Thanks

    • Yes. You must have a residential address to open this account. But it is okay to use PO box as the postal address.

Edit. In fact residential address is required to open all bank accounts.

      • Cool thanks, been meaning to open an account for the lil one. Is the debit card completely fee free?

        • you will need to ask STG/BoM/BSA what they charge. Only know the bit about residential address.

Alternatively, these info is available online.

        • My experience is that they don't charge you to have a Visa debit card but your little one must be at over 14 years old to be eligible for having a vida debit card. See there T&C:

          1. To be eligible for a Visa Debit card you must have an Australian residential address and be over 14 years of age. If you're not eligible for a Visa Debit card, apply for a Freedom card to access your account.
  • If I used to have a Complete Freedom Account & received $50 for signing up for the Complete Freedom Account — but not a Complete Freedom STUDENT Account, will I be eligible for the offer?

    • Hi There,

If you meet the Student criteria and then proceed to open a Complete Freedom Student. You should still be able to receive the $50 cash bonus.

      • Thanks for your reply. Will open a student account soon. Is it an online only offer or I can also open the account in the branch to qualify for the deal?

        • Great. You can open online, in branch or via the Contact Centre. You will need to go in branch to prove your student status though.

        • @towncharger1: As I am in VIC, can you confirm that if I sign up to this promotion, I will be able to go to a Bank of Melbourne branch, and they'll know what is going on (in terms of me being a St George cust.) and be able to sight my student details?

  • I wonder if the email from the university of Tasmania for my fitbit class would qualify me as a atudebt.

  • I've just opened an account and deposited $250, I have to also get an ID check at an Aus Post. Can I show my student card at a Bank of Melbourne branch?

    • Yes, that should be fine.

  • I clicked on the link and it says that account holders need to be 14 or over - can you pls confirm? My child is 6. Thanks

    • Hi There,

For customers under 14 you will need to open the account at your nearest St. George Branch.

      • Ok, thanks

  • Why now they change to depositing the $50 on 1st Jun 2017 rather than April?
