  • I picked up the WD 1 TB Elements for $85 from Harvey Norman couple of weeks ago.

  • Which 1TB Hard disk is better?

    WD ELEMENTS
    or
    SEAGATE

    ??

    • doesn't matter, despite what many people will say - they last on average the same amount of time

      • Agreed, each person will have personal experience and swear by a certain brand but I have bought hundreds of drives and I buy in bulk for the companies a I work for and I can tell you they all have the same failure rates.

    • The WD Elements has a nice thermal design, the case seems to act as a heatsink for the drive. I don't know what the Seagate's like although the last Seagate external I had (Maxtor-branded) the hard disk itself got to atrocious temperatures. I suppose it also helps that the WD contains a green drive. Then again, Seagate has probably improved their design since then.

As to how much difference it makes - who knows? I think cooler is better than hotter, but for occasional use it's not likely to make much difference.

  • $87 @ Harvey Norman Auburn.. buy something else to make it $100 then use $50 coupon..

    that's what i did today
