Someone at work is eating my lunch on a regular basis - how can I get back at them without getting in trouble

As title suggests someone at work is eating my lunch 2-3x a week. Yes I put a name tag on my food, both on the plastic bag and then on the lunchbox. This theft almost always occur 99% of the time I get takeaway such as a sushi box or some kind of takeaway. Other times they'll look in my lunch box and nick parts of my lunch such as my chobani yoghurt or up and go other prepackaged snacks.

The higher-ups won't let me view CCTV and they said they'll investigate and despite reporting it in early December, it's been happening again shortly after the Christmas/New Years break. Friends have suggested putting unbearably hot spices or laxatives or something to mess with them but I have the feeling I'd get in trouble.

Any suggestions?

update: i will go with a really hot sauce and put it in one of my lunches, thanks for the ideas guys :) Will let you know how it goes
update 2: purchased hot sauce as someone suggested in the comments from the chilli factory, will keep you updated

        That's right.

It's not fair and there is no such thing as justice

      • Agh the corporate world…. there will always be some moron ruin it for the rest

    • Just wondering,
Now the food thief's identity is known. Have they stopped stealing food? Or did HR protect their identity?

      • Everyone found out who it was. Food still occasionally goes missing.

    • His defense lawyer is garbage. If labeled with your name their evidence is circumstantial at best. A simple "I havent shit for days" is plausible to use in your own food.

Only way for him to get prosecuted for that would be if he admitted or said something to incriminate himself.

If he didnt label it, he can just say, wasnt mine, I dont know.

      • And you are a solicitor?

And A simple "I havent shit for days" is not a plausible reason to put laxative in all your food and drink.

        • How do you think laxitives are taken, in your ear? Of course its plauseable, perhaps even common!

        • @WT:

But considering the evidence of the fact he reported it to HR would surely cause doubt on the excuse of not using bowel actions in a number of days.

        • You may be an idiot and take them in your ear… I don't know you.

but yes… but it's taken in a tablet form or as a measured dose of liquid.

It 's not plausible to lace food and a "sealed Drink" like an up n go.

Plus I'm guessing the toxicology report from the hospital would have reported the concentration in his body.

    • Judge Judy would have thrown the civil case out and awarded $5000 to the against the thief.

    Update??

  • Do what I do. Bring my own lunchbox and put a few ice packs in it. No-one touches your lunch then as it's next to you all day :)

    • but what about when you go to the toilet do you take your lunchbox in with you?

      • in your drawer, bag or under tablet. If people fiddling under there there would be a please explain. It's a thief with a face. Not a faceless thief :)

      Any updates

  • Rig up a glitter bomb in your lunchbox. Thief will look fabulous.

But seriously, update? You went overboard and got fired didn't you?

    • the glitter bomb might not go down to well with everyone else who now have to pick tinsel out of their lunch

  • Update: I'm the one stealing the lunch. I was backed up so the laxatives helped thanks. Loved the Valium week. Wooooooo! Did I mention I have taken the hottest burger in Australia challenge three times (only chucked once) so the hot sauce has been great. The antipsychotics were handy as I'm clearly psychotic. No one noticed the food colouring but the chockies were great.

Keep it coming. Glitter bomb? - Oh I made a mistake - prove it was me every other time!

    Well?

  • This is like the cancellation of Deadwood. We'll never find out what happened……

Annually there's be rumours of an update or a movie to wrap it all up but it'll just never happen.

  • What happen?

  • I think the OP must have solved the problem by now. Otherwise, he would be commenting and regularly be updating this thread.

that or he is in a jail call without internet access

      • Maybe lol.

      • But, How can you say that?

Can't see any activity on this account since Jan.
      Throw away account?

      • Not impossible, but unusual as OP was already a member for years.

Should we be checking the court reports? [g,d,rvvf.]

        • @terrys: Maybe.

So they've not participated much in five years, however they were lurking two days before your comment.

        • I stand corrected. I can't edit my comment, or else I would reference you!

Apologies for the delays for everyone subscribed and left on a cliff hanger. I had to leave my job shortly after before I could finalise any devious plans as I was diagnosed with cancer and I have been battling for my life ever since; in and out of hospitals doing chemo rounds. I am happy to personally message mods and provide proof if needed as it seems to be such an outlandish statement.

edit: i was going with the ridiculously hot sauce option, seemed most affordable and least harmful.

    • That is indeed unwelcome news but it still might end well for you. My stepdaughter defeated breast cancer 2 years ago after my wife stayed with her for a year helping her get through it. Keep up the good fight and keep us informed.

boo, first someone steals your food then cancer. best of luck with beating it @sausagedelay.

look into eating brown rice while doing chemo. relo said eating that literally helped them keep their hair and feel better between sessions.
