Easy way to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points

Hi guys

I am just trying to find an easy method to get mine and my sons Qantas Frequent Flyer card from expiring.
We used to use the Qantas toolbar but that has been disconnected. I do have a woolworths reward card but that is in my wifes name and she gets all the points.
Any other ideas? Not after 1000s of points, just want to get the account alive

Thanks

  • Is your card one that doubles as the Qantas Cash mastercard? You could load some money on that and use it for some purchases.

  • Book a hotel on the qantas website, and take your wife out for dinner and a sleep over.

    • "Sleep over"

  • Make a booking on secure parking; there's deals on here all the time.

  • Open a bankwest qantas transaction account and put a little money in there. It will earn QFF each month.

  • Sign up for an Everyday rewards card in your own/son's name? Or just a family transfer from your wife's QFF account to yours?

    • Family transfer no longer counts as activity for the purpose of preventing points from expiring (I assume this is one of OP's aims?). They used to. It is mentioned here

      • If you have 5k points in your account, transfer them to your your son's account. Then transfer all the points in your son's account back to your account. The points will now be in your account and will be subject to your account's expiry date.

  • Open a Qudos bank account, links from QF webpage …. points credit each month and protects your existing account.

All much like the original Woolies system, which now takes a LONG time to accrue, and be credited to your QF-FF account.

Apply for a free Amex Qantas Discovery card, and get at least 12,500pts using a referral link (Amex Referral Wiki)?
Downside: requires a $750 spend in 3 months (so only relevant if you have to spend anyway and don't mind it going to this account), but upside, you can keep card for Amex cashback offers, and 1pt/$1 rewards etc. Also, no issue keeping program alive in future.

Purchase something cheap or needed from the Qantas Online Mall

You could make a booking at one of the restaurants listed on the Qantas website and earn 100 points:

    https://restaurants.qantaspoints.com/

That'll probably be one of the easiest and cheapest methods.

  • AS potm has mentioned "Open a bankwest qantas transaction account and put a little money in there. It will earn QFF each month"

Make sure you transfer a minimum $2000 per month into the account to avoid the $5/month charge.
You can transfer it back out again a day or so later.

It's a no brainer for keeping your QFF account alive.

And also mentioned by mckennal, when you want something off eBay, use the Qantas Mall as a portal to get to eBay.
