Nintendo Switch Pre-Order Deals?

Anyone know of any Pre-Order deals for the Nintendo Switch and games? Im keen to get one on day 1 but would like to save some cash (obviously!)

Ive done some research online and found EB Games, JB HiFi, Target and Big W all have them for about the same price ($469), but using the Woolworths WISH eGift Cards @CashRewards can get 5% off -making it $445.55

Normally Big W has good sales on games when they are first released, but I haven't seen any pricing yet for them.

Also not sure on Price Match for Pre-Orders and day 1 releases, but all three Price Match on regular days so I dont know how much this will be an issue.

Anyone have any thoughts?

  • all Nintendo items will be full RRP, there wont be a sale on the games at all - I am going by Nintendos normal way of selling new hardware so assume this one will be the same.

The WiiU and its games were under RRP at Big W, Kmart and JB Hi-Fi at launch though.

  • Often with preorders you have to wait until release date to see the competing prices.
You can price match when collecting preorders, at least for EB Games. They even let you refund the difference if it gets cheaper elsewhere in the first 7 days from purchase.

There could be an Ebay offer that pops up.
It may be worth considering getting the Switch imported since it's region free. Though with currency exchange and shipping it would be unlikely to be much cheaper.

  • EB games also has extra 30% credit for preorder tradins

Yeah it's too far out for any deals to be around just yet. Wait until a couple weeks out and should start to see the deals

  • Big W has it for pre order??

  • My plan is to buy from either target or big w, they have good sales… Would imagine they would drop the price over 2 years. Plan to claim cash back with the Coles price protection

    • Big W already anounced their price and you can pre-order with them for full RRP

      • Yep, but I mean by 2019 the price will have dropped and can claim cash back with credit card making it cheaper overall, I did this when I bought new graphics card, used it early for higher price then claimed 80 bucks back

None, pretty much full RRP everywhere.
I pre-ordered at EB cause they will have a midnight launch, the other stores wont other than JB hifi.

  • Thanks OP for doing that research. Wish giftcards looks like the way to go. Remember, region free, so even though I plan to buy the console here in Australia, I'll be looking worldwide (including OzGameShop and PlayAsia) for games.

This doesn't help anyone for preorders, but for those who are looking for a delayed bargain:
Looking back over my notes, I bought the Wii U Premium at Big W online with $120 off (total $348) in June 2013, 6 months after it launched. So it might be worth holding off, those who are uncommitted to launch and don't need it soon.

Time to tackle my Steam pile of shame!

    • If everyone had that mindset wait 6 months for a price drop, then by then it would have been considered a flop, and no one will want to create games for it, gotta thank the early adopters that help push the console into fruition, like the 3DS, PS3, PS4, VITA, Xbox, all of them at launch, had their kind of quirks and shit launch but the early adopters definitely helped their respective console purchases during the launch period.

      • You're right, I should buy a Tesla now because that will help Teslas become better for people who buy them later, including future models.

Well, you make a good point, but it's just not viable for all people, and many people here on OzB are after bargains, funnily enough. There will be many people who buy it now at full price, and good for them, but for those who are thinking "I might get one now because it's never going to drop in price", well they can be reassured that it might happen, as it did with the Wii U.

  • Extra 30% credit sound good. I was hopeful for price match on collection. I've thought about importing and and found a site which had the price comparisons for different countries around the world (Japan has the cheapest), but i want to get it on day 1 because I'm flying OS for work on the same day-gives me something to do on the plane. Plus I can also claim TRS 10%.

Might see what eb games can give me for my Wii u trade in, I think that will be better than the $25-$30 savings from the wish cards.
