Shoes made from the skin of dead baby animals. Nice.

    • +3

      Are you vegan?

    • +11

It's far more agreeable than made from the skin of live baby animals.

      • -5

They were live till someone had them killed for shoes.

        • They may have been killed for veal production and the hide is a secondary product.

        • +1

          @moooooooo: Mmmmmm…veal

        • -4

@moooooooo: I suspect you think it better that a child is killed and their mother left grieving for a morsel of flesh (or a glass of milk more likely - veal being a product of dairy much more than beef) rather than fashion shoes. Considering they're both equally unnecessary can you care to explain why?

        • +2

          @thevofa:
Have u ever eaten anything from animals?
          Ever eat jelly whatever flavour?
Are you so kInd to mozzies, so you feed then with your blood? Mother mozzies need your blood to make babies?
After you're dead, if you really care about animals, would you leave your dead body to feed them, because maggots need your flesh to become flies
          Be honest…

        • @Jamesx:

          Please refer to Proverbs 26:4

Enough of the sensationalist language. Nobody's killing children. Statements like this do nothing for bringing people to your cause and only highlight your level of ignorance.

          child
          noun

a young human being below the age of puberty or below the legal age of majority.

I doubt many here are interested in you pushing your opinion every time a deal involving leather is posted either.

Statements like this do nothing for >bringing people to your cause

OK, you give me the right statements that might convince you to stop killing and exploiting mothers and children from nonhuman species and I'll gladly use those instead.

        • @Jamesx:
Wow, so that well articulated comment above is saying anyone who doesn't consume animal products is a hypocrite?

        • @thevofa:
It's not going to happen so don't bother pushing it.

        • +2

I would like to bring to your attention there are hundreds of thousands of lactating cows being sexually violated as a means to supply commercial quantities of milk.

This happens daily! Sometimes the same cow is violated by the cold steel funnels several times a day. It is an unspeakable non consensual act where the cow is prodded out to the back and left standing - shedding a tear where no one cares what just happened.

It is an absolute outrage this type of cruelty continues to occur within Australia.

The warm chocolate milk you consume is a byproduct of the sexual violation of a cow!

          PLEASE CONSIDER ANIMAL WELFARE

        • @dan76n: yeah I hope they consider what they do while they're alive more than what I don't do when I'm dead.

        • @supnigs: be careful with telling uncomfortable truths else you will be negged and responded to to with nonsenses.

to lions killing a baby animal and eating it while still might be alive?

Like using lions as paragons of human morality

Don't breathe, you are killing all those microbs

Or using absurd reductions that compare nonsentient organisms with feeling beings

Most people don't go out to shoot animals for fun.

Or not being able to distinguish eating for necessity or eating for pleasure.

Being vegan sorta makes you a bit prophetic. \/

        • @thevofa:

Don't breathe, you are killing all those microbs.

How is it different to kill an animal for food and whatvere is made out of their skin, bines, etc. to lions killing a baby animal and eating it while still might be alive?

Most people don't go out to shoot animals for fun. Just like most animals don't play with animals and then kill them. They kill them and eat them and an animal baby's mother could be looking at lions eating said baby.

        • @thevofa:

OK, you give me the right statements that might convince you to stop killing and exploiting mothers and children

There is no right statement when your argument follows emotion and no logic.

Let's just call it the circle of life…or…a series of pointless repeated comments trying to make calves human

          child
          noun

a young human being below the age of puberty or below the legal age of majority.

        • @OzBragain: I know, and cows aren't really mothers either, merely female bearers of progeny.

Maybe one day when you stop using a dictionary as some defence for senseless violence we may have a quality chat. Cheers.

        • @thevofa:

Killing animals for food isn't senseless violence, it's how your ancestors sustained themselves for thousands of years before gracing the world with your existence.

As long as you keep pushing the idea that animals are the same as humans the chances of us having a quality chat are pretty slim champ.

        • -1

@OzBragain: our ancestors did lots of things to sustain themselves, including holding slaves and raping the other tribe's women. What we did in the past is no automatic pattern for what we should do now.

There is zero nutritional need for animals to be consumed considering all the options available here and now, therefore consuming them is a pursuit of pleasure, not a necessity.

        • @thevofa:

There is zero nutritional need for animals to be consumed

Rubbish statement after rubbish statement, it's worse than arguing with a four year old.

Being vegan sorta makes you a bit prophetic self-righteous.

I'm done. Will leave you to sip chai lattes around the drum circle gloating about your internet win against the child eating cannibals of OzBargain.

        • @OzBragain:

          Rubbish statement

See now you're not just arguing about words but arguing against the consensus of modern scientific opinion.

Who cares. Better than perfectly good leather going to waste. This isn't the utopia you imagine in your head, it's the real world.

did anyone here manage to get a pair?

    • dumbest website ever!

I especially like the Kenneth Cole shoes recommended below. Was $129 now $149 BARGAIN!

If you not on a shoe string budget this might make a good investment.

      • No need for a shoe string budget. These have straps! You'll never tie your strings up again.

It's sad to know we live in a world where some people care about what a shoe is made of more than starving babies in poor countries.

If your a animal activist person good. Keep it to yourself and stop driving and walking because your killing innocent ants!

    • +4

Something has to be done with the skin of all the beasts that go into McDonalds mincing machine. Either make some shoes or throw them in the McNugget grinder for added flavour.

    • +1

It's sad to know we live in a world where you want to shut down free speach.
It's sad to know we live in a world where some people care about how to save a dollar more than starving babies in poor countries.

I eat meat, wear leather shoes, but can cope if questioned about that without resorting to this level of drivel.

  • WOW , $749 for a pair of shoes ? And to top it of, Mens Shoes.

    • +2

In all honesty, if you hold one of these in your hands, you'll understand :)
They are all hand made, 100% (-iron nails) highest quality leather. They take a long time to make…
I have a Loake, which is similar quality, and I love it.

    • Yep, I grew up with knowing that Church's are really well made really high quality shoes. I fully share @ocoolio's sentiment.

While other factory manufactured or china made shoes may look the look (for a tiny fraction of the price), it's really not the same until you hold them and put them on.

And also, men's shoes of sufficient quality have always been far far more expensive than women's slippers (what most people consider women's shoes - think heels and stuff).
Traditionally men's shoes lasted a lifetime while women's slippers were worn for an outfit or a season. The construction in them is so far removed from each other to compare.

They're pretty damn awful shoes, let's be frank here. Ok for burial dress perhaps.

    • +1

That's ok. When you die I'll come in those shoes.
      What suit would you recommend?

    • +1

i guess you could say… you wouldn't be caught dead in these shoes.

  • These are showing as "out of stock" at checkout for both sizes.
