  • next cheapest price i could find was $368. unsure of delivery cost here as i didnt go too far into checkout process…
    (http://www.citiwideonline.com/au/index.php?page=shop.product…)
this offer here looks like a pretty decent deal to me for all the ozbargainers…

  • Are these grey imports? and are they the PAL or NTSC version? (NTSC version takes AVCHD video at 1080i/60fps vs PAL version @ 1080i/50fps)

I got mine about a week after launch, cost me $475 shipped, and that was only like what, 4/5 months ago. This is an awesome little camera for the money, the movie mode is simply incredible.

    • The movie mode has some pretty severe barrel distortion at the wide end much like the HX5V. Doesn't spoil it for everyone, but worth pointing out.

    • Wanting to know what if it is grey import or not too and what the warranty conditions were. Eg, can I take it back to Sony Aust or need to send it back to you guys. I'm in Melb and your stores are all in QLD. Also how long is the offer for and you provide a full tax invoice unlike some of the OS stores citiwide etc right?

      • +3

Sorry, forgot to mention that your standard warranty applies which means you can take it to any Sony authorised repair centre local to you :)

  • +2

Hi there. Definitely not grey imports. All units come directly from Sony Australia so your warranty will apply. We are a Brisbane based company so you will also receive a valid invoice for all warranty claims.

As for PAL or NTSC, this version records in PAL.

  • +1

"severe barrel distortion at the wide end" not the first(or last!) cam with this, i believe it's a compromise with the internal periscopic lens system and the overall thin body design

    • And you can even use that barrel effect to your advantage in certain scenes. I've taken many awesome photos and videos with this tiny camera. Well worth the money considering mine was a grey import @ $475 only 5 months ago.

  • Thanks for the response Maggie. Last question, how long is the offer good for? I don't want to buy for another 2 weeks because I want to claim TRS. Going OS in Sep.

    • No problem. We have made the offer valid for 2 weeks so expiry august 6th, that should be perfect for you. If there is any issues though you can contact us prior to purchase.

      • Actually departing mid Sep. Any chance of the offer being extended? Need it extended by almost 2 weeks, so I know I'm asking for a lot :).

        • actually this is a coincidence because i will also be OS mid of SEPT and I would also consider this option attractive to get TRS

          • @canigetsometoo: Ok - so I've checked up on this and while we have no problems with extended the offer the only concern is that stock might not last that long. What we suggest is that you can place your order, secure your stock but write in the notes that you don't want it shipped until a certain date. This means we'd hold the order and not invoice until that time. I hope this answers your question.

  • Good Oz Stock. Beware some online stores have imported stocks (cheaper price), which means MOST of the cases (unless have international warranty)you need to send it back to the online store…..(lot of hassles)
Some even promote themselves as Australian stock store but when you query further, you may find out that it is indeed an imported stock, just need to ask/query!

  • Great deal. Gotta have it. I second the Oz stock thing. Gotta be careful of the cheaper alternatives.

  • Grr, i just bought a new-used one at $345!

  • This is a really good price.

  • I will keep an eye here for the new full hd (1920x1240?) units that recently announced. any advice on the 32gb high speed memory stick pro (price) delimma? sony sells it for over $300 in sonystore.

    • This TX-7 already is the recently announced "Full HD" 1920x1080, so look no further!

And you can use both standard SDHC and Sony MS cards in it.

  • Is this a good deal when you compare the 12MP cameras for $100?

I know these give better photos, but is it that much better?

    • There are alot of factors that effect the quality of an image and your megapixels is only one of them. A big part of it with the Sony is their Exmor-R sensor which means it's great in low light conditions, and you have the added benefit of AVCHD recording.

  • Sorry. This would be my first online purchase so this might sound stupid….What happens if something gets broken during postage and handling?

  • I understand. If anything gets damaged during transit you simply call our 1300 VIDEOPRO number and we will look at sending a replacement for you.

  • Ditto, this would be my first in purchasing Electrical items, is there any ozbarganeer that has purchased from this store before… cause that's a great price & I need a great camera for next months holidays… TRS Claim!!!!! :)

    • You have nothing to worry about, I've been buying pro video gear from their business centre in brisbane for years. They're a large retail chain so it's all good.

I also bought the Sony 5.1 system from them from their last deal!

It's a great camera too, the Exmor R sensor really is great. That, plus handheld twilight mode … amazing. You might want a spare batt though.

  • i bought a sony 5.1 sound system from them.
    no complains.

  • Hi Maddie, I sent this question via the website but this way is probably quicker- I'm heading off on holidays in 2 weeks, if I ordered this camera this weekend do you reckon I'd get it in Perth before I go (I know you can't guarantee)? Looking at the reviews (and the price) I'm very keen. Thanks.

    • Hi johnny. That should be fine, without checking exact transit times via our tracking system I can't promise anything. However, If you purchased now we would ship Monday so that should be plenty of time. I can confirm that for you on Monday though if you'd like

      • Thanks that would be great. Hoping to TRS it.

        • Hi Johnny, I've looked into this and fingers crossed at the latest the camera would get to you by next Thursday (This is only a rough estimate though to postcode 6000). Because we are based in Brisbane it makes it a little harder. If you'd like to call one of our web team tomorrow we could look at a more accurate delivery time for you.

  • Maddie just ordered one, hope I will get it by next week. Thanks all for this nice offer and valuable information.

hi guys is this 2010 model?

  • Maddie … be a dear and throw a special price for a 16GB SDHC card to accompany the camera (applies when bought together). Cheers.

    • Hey there. Sorry about the delayed response. I've spoken to my buyer and he said we could definitely do something. Let me get back to you Monday morning when are all in the office :)

  • Guys or Maddie, 1 more question… which of the recordable media compatible with this camera is best (any major difference between SD & MS besides the price) & what are the benefits of M.S. Hi Speed & SDHC ?

    • Get a SDHC card. There is no benefit to using Sony's proprietary memory stick format and you'll be able to use it in other devices or cameras in the future and they're cheaper.

  • Almost forgot to ask… going to the U.S. next month and was wondering if the battery charger will work with 110v. Cheers.

    • Yup it does. You'll need a plug converter of course, to plug it into the non-angled flat pin sockets there.

  • Thanks Orpheus.

  • I wish they had put the deal on Sony HX5V

  • Is the camera offered in one colour? because there is seems to be no options on the website.

  • Ok…. just ordered one, spoke to Josh (online query) and would express post it as I leave on the 7th of August, he said I'll get it b4 the week ends….. I sure hope so, thanks for the answers guys.
Also gonna buy a 16 Gb SD Extreme HD Video for 108 bux at digitalcamerawarehouse…. good price?

  • For all of you who were interested in a 16gb Memory card aswell, I have spoken to my buyer and he has let us drop the price of SF16N4 - Our usual sell price on these are $79 but for the duration of the sale we are selling at $66 (Plus free shipping)

    http://www.videopro.com.au/p-2469-sony-sf16n4-16gb-sdhc-memo…

  • Good morning OzBargain! What an amazing response we had over the weekend. I just thought I would give you all an update with stock levels. At the moment we are filling most orders that were received over the weekend which will be shipped in the next couple of days. We are however receiving a MASSIVE shipment, (due in our warehouse by the end of the week) which will fill all other orders.

Please feel free to contact our webteam on 1300 VIDEOPRO if you have any questions or simply jump on our LiveChat Service offered on our website.

it is class 4 SD card. in a camera specs they say class 6 is preferrable for HD movies recording.
can you please confirm that the one you're referring to will work fine for 1920i HD videos (highest resolution and bit rate). Thanks.

    • According to the Sony Website, the above memory card will work for High Quality, 1920i Recording. They do suggest that for the Best Possible recording to use something with a higher transfer rate (this reduces any risk of losing frames within the recording). This however is just a suggestion, and not a requirement though so this will definitely work for everyday use.

    • I'm using a Sandisk Class2 16GB microSD card in mine (via an SD adaptor) and highest quality AVCHD video (1080i/50Hz) works fine on it.

  • Hi all,
Is it worth getting the extended 5 year warranty ?

    • Hi John. The extended warranty really comes down to personal preference and I find that people usually take it for the peace of mind. Our warranty Terms and Conditions are all on our website however I'd be happy to answer any particular questions you might have.

  • *** Just an update - we are now completely sold out of the Blue DSCTX7 and it will be removed from our website. We still have some Red Available and another big shipment of the Silver due to arrive before the end of the week.

    • Just ordered a silver one.

Does that mean I won't receive it this week?

      • Our staff who procure the stock will contact you in the morning with an eta. It's possible that you will receive it by this week but you will get an exact update tomorrow morning :)

        • Great, Thanks for the quick reply!

          • @ceilceil: No Worries. I'm just waiting for my rep to call me back cause I'd really like to give you the most accurate ETA possible. Because you have already placed your order you will be contacted by Julia as soon as we hear word :)

  • Just purchased.

I hope this means more deals in the future :)

  • -1

Can't wait to get my hands on it…. found some cheaper prices for 16 Gb SD Extreme HD Video, thou in the US it says it's a Class4, does anyone know if it would make any sort of difference if the media is bought overseas? Cheers.

  • *** Update. Hi All, We are now sold out of the Red Camera as well so this has also been taken offline. An update of the ETA for the shipment of the SILVER cameras will be coming within the next couple of hours so watch this space :)

  • Hi all, received my camera today after placing order yesterday morning :)
my thanks to Josh who was very helpful, thou the postie left it in my mail box !?!
lucky no one stole it…. cheers & keep bringing in the deals.

  • P.S.it was Silver.

  • Maddie, can we pickup from the Fort. Valley branch?

    • Unfortunately they also do not have stock in at the moment as (company wide) we are waiting for our shipment. They should receive stock by next week however if you wanted to place your order online we would ship out straight away. Alternatively you can contact the store directly and they can place the order for you :)

  • Maddie, do you still have this camera in stock and is the coupon still valid?

  • +1

    Hi Amf,

We have about 20 left! We are running out pretty quickly though so I will update you all when we are almost sold out.

    Happy OzBargaining!

    • Thanks. Just ordered one, wondering how long it would take to ship to sydney.

      • Awesome! Shipping to Sydney is generally pretty fast. It will leave our Warehouse today or tomorrow and take about 1 or 2 days via Austrlia Post or TNT. I hope you enjoy your new camera!

  • Just got mine. Thanks Maddie and Videopro.

  • Maddie, your site shows $376.20. how do I get the OzBargain Price $346.50? And also does the camera come in dark blue?

  • Please disregard. Just worked out

  • Amazing… received it the very next day. Thanks Maddie.
