RRP $4500 With only 330 bottles ever made, don't miss out on the chance to own a piece of Johnnie Walker history!

The Whisky
The John Walker is simply excellent; yet there is nothing simple about it. The John Walker is one of the rarest and most exclusive Scotch labels ever created. Made as a tribute to John Walker himself, the endeavour of the Master Distiller was to recreate the authentic, original flavours that inspired the range of whiskies loved the world over. The John Walker is comprised of whiskies drawn from just 9 distilleries – 6 malt and 3 grain – not the thirty or forty often seen in other blends. Each contribution comes from a distillery once available to John Walker himself and each tiny single-cask batch is married in especially sourced cask wood over 100 years old.
Just as John Walker would’ve chosen the best available to him, the master blender has selected some of the last remaining casks from long-gone distilleries. These are priceless, irreplaceable liquids, including the distillers’ last stocks of single malt from Glen Albyn, closed in 1983 and Cambus, closed in 1993. In recapturing the style, character and taste of the original blends; such exacting care and uncompromising standards results in a yield of just 330 individually numbered decanters of The John Walker. Just as in John Walker’s day, no two batches will ever be exactly the same.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own a piece of Scotch Whisky history and rarity, an unbeatable liquor investment. The John Walker is a trophy that very few will ever hold, but those who do are special people – the members of a global elite. John Walker would be proud.
The Housing
Only the crystal of kings from world renowned Baccarat could contain The John Walker. In the whole world, just 3 master craftsmen have the skill required. Each numbered crystal decanter is a unique example of unsurpassed excellence and human precision. Hand-blown, polished and sand-engraved, it is presented in a lacquered solid wood display case with luxurious leather padding. Under the Baccarat crystal stopper rests a 24K gold plated neck collar, reflecting the precious golden liquid within.
Tasting Notes
Layer upon layer the ultimate understated expression of controlled power and richness builds. On the nose the richer wisdom of mature fruits slowly supersedes youthful aromas of fresh citrus. On the palate there’s a vanilla oak sweetness touched by citrus.
As you savour the rich picture painted by these flavours, the smooth and mellow finish reaches its climax in rich smokiness. The incomparable depth of flavour now fully revealed is complemented by an all-enveloping mouth-feel.

The flowery description is funny. Would like to see how they describe Johnnie Red.

"Has undertones of paint thinner and a korean nail salon. Maybe its Maybelline. Full of character on the palate, that character being 'burning', you can feel it in your sinuses. The goggles, they do nuzzing!"

      • +1

A perfect counterbalance to the ketone rich assault of a St Agnes brandy with desert. Underpants, marinated socks and delicate floral hints of a kylie bedsheet on an Adelaide summers day….

Just want to check, if I buy this whiskey can I bring it onboard to drink during a flight?

I'll be in my $37,500 residential suite.

    • Technically you are not allowed to consume your own alcohol on a flight.

      • Didn't you hear he's flying residential suite. At that price he can do what he likes.

        • Don't mind me, I'm flying peasantial class.

Wonders how much each drop cost?

    • +3

Assuming a drop is 0.05ml (as is standard with water at least) then each drop would cost ~$0.23.

  • +4

for $3,500 you could have your bathtub filled with johnnie red, coke n ice and then some

    • +7

Or you could spend a grand on hookers and blow and have even more left over.
      The possibilities are endless

A thousand for hookers and blow? Why haven't you posted this deal on OZB yet?

      • $1000 on coc is no where near enough.

Hookers too? They love both types of blow

I couldn't care less how many they have produced. Anyone who makes purchase choices based on exclusivity is an A grade W**KER. Although artificial scarcity and exclusivity has been the hallmark of marketing campaigns for a long time.

Here's a test - If you couldn't tell or show it to anyone, would you still buy it?

    • +1

Yes. Bottle the piss and drink it to cover the cost.

  • +7

Johnny Walkers numbers really bug me.

'330 bottles ever made' - Each single barrel produces 330 x 70cl bottles and they've made several batches.

John Walker is aged in oak casks that are over 100 years old….. but the whisky certainly isn't.

Blue label is now '1 in every 10,000 barrels' which is in excess of 30,000 bottles a year.

1920's edition which is 'inspired' by the 1920's and contains no scotch from that time.

Seems like wealthy people prefer the illusion of rarity over facts though.

    • 330 x $3,500 = $1,225,000

      30,000 x $160 = $4,800,000

I reckon its not such a big deal comapared to the millions of red and black.

      • Maybe it's not that big of a deal, but I just can't trust anything said by a company that is constantly purposely trying to mislead its best customers.

    • Seems like wealthy people prefer the illusion of rarity over facts though.

So what, you think poor people have realistic marketing? Lynx doesn't actually get you laid.

      • +3

You must be doing it wrong. Im beating them off with a stick… well, Im beating something off.

      • After just under 8 years of marriage my wife has me wearing Bvlgari/Dior because apparently they're my favourites, wore Lynx before hand….. I'm not saying it was all the Lynx but it was more successful than cologne from my experience.

    • probably stocked in the mini-bar for the high rollers Crown flies in.

    • +1

These high end JWs are for people who are after the appearance of refinement. Unfortunately that's what drives the market these days. It's why you see so many high end whiskies that are chill filtered and coloured with caramel. It's not about an expression of a distillery, its about something that looks crystal clear and has a nice amber colour, in a pretty bottle.

  • +3

That description reads like the makings of a circle jerk.

Nobody has asked the real question.

Who on ozbargain will buy this?
I am seriously curious, will anyone here buy this?

    • Group buy?

Ah, well, this is Ozbargin… We save and save on cheap SIMs and then strike like Ninjas when the price is right. Personally I'm buying to resell on Alibaba…

@EarlyBird: I've got a cassette tape in mine that must become a collectable soon…

        • are you starting a monty python skit?

  • So… this is how much hand made whisky would be over a Production whisky.

Dont think anyone that visits OzBargain would be a $3500 a bottle drinker.

    • +1

I would drink it if I wasn't paying for it

      • +1

We have trouble claiming some of these things (food and booze) as expenses for tax, BUT visiting foreign business people can depending on the tax laws in their home country ….. most expensive dinner I've been lucky enough to tag along to was $650 per person ….. $450 per person for drinks ….. yes expensed.

    • Theres a few that are 10x the price of this one, without the 1000 off. There are some extremes too, one bottle sold for over 600k.

      http://moneynation.com/most-expensive-whiskey/

  • Or you could get 100 bottles of the Red Label and still have $5 left over for some coke.

  • +1

I does leave me wondering what the contents are actually worth once you strip away the marketing and "exclusivity". i.e. if it wasn't in a hand blown individual decanter and a hand made timber box that took 60 hours to make, what's the whisky actually worth if it was poured into a standard bottle and slapped a label on it.

From the other site mentioned in the comment, "the decanter is presented in a lacquered cabinet that took sixty hours to make. This is the epitome of exclusivity."

    • -1

      Bit like an iPhone really.

    • what's the whisky actually worth if it was poured into a standard bottle and slapped a label on it.

Whatever you think it's worth in that bottle. The taste will change as well.

      • If I offered to serve it as inflight drinks on chartered flights, would it attract politicians away from mainstream commercial flights and the Johnnie Black?

Value of the bottle, an empty Remy Martin Louis XII bottle costs about $300, and it's Bacarrat crystal. Richard Henessy bottle is about the same.

There is a market for these products, gifts to business associates, and in some cultures (Chinese) it's common to show your wealth as a sign of success, not how poor you are and drink the Johhnie Red, although you get refill with the Johnnie Red and bluff your way through a dinner party with those less knowledgible.

        • I think you mean Louis XIII

If you want I can sell you a couple empty ones for half that price

        • @Archi: There's a huge market for the market, the vast majority of buyers sell the emptys to high end Asian clubs that make several thousand from refilling it with rubbish. It's not uncommon for the clients to ask to see the bottle smashed when they're finished.

        • @rekabkram:

i wasn't doubting that. mine are filled with a blend of teas to get the colour right. much cheaper. just merely saying if (garage sale) was interested i could sell him mine. a have about half a dozen.

  • They could fill these decanters with johnnie red and black Douglas, and most of the tossers who would buy this wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

  • +3

    Thanks OP. Bought 330

  • You'd get a better quality whisky from Tasmania - Lark or Nant.

  • This is so cheap! Oh wait… i missed the zeroes

Bought 2 just in case 1 was fake…..
