Wife's LG G4 went dead

Bought a LG G4 mobile in OCT 2015 from eBay through a deal posted here.
Today while charging it, the phone went dead.
Would not start.
It was under one year warranty.
Shipped from Taiwan, but Australian seller.
What are my options,
Thanks,
Varun Pant

Send it back to the retailer you purchased it from or try your luck direct with LG

Oh and don't buy LG again :)

    • Wife was very happy with LG G4.
And it is not a bootloop issue. Thanks anyway.

  • Edit: Above comment is better.
Disregard my suggestion of troubleshooting and paying to get a repair.

  • If you cant revive you'll need to go back to the seller, as LG Australia won't care.

I wouldn't expect this would be covered under Australian Consumer Law, so you'll be dealing with the seller directly for the repair/replacement.

That's mean your lg is genuine.
Only genuine lg will has boot loop.

But it's not boot loop. It's dead. It's an ex-LG. Pining for the fjords.

  • oct 2015..you did well..got over a years worth so dont complain considering the bootloop happens before 12 months

    • Not bootloop
      Only dead.

        Oh that's much better then

    • Yeah, you should be happy with you failed device because you got a bit longer than some other people!

It happened to mine, changed the battery and worked fine until now.
If you know someone has G4, try theirs battery.

  • Charge phone for 5-6 hours and then try to restart it.

  • Don't expect any warranty service from eBay sellers outside the ebay and Paypal money back guarantee periods.
Exception (perhaps) are sellers that provide a local address and phone number and who have thier own web site as well.

  • From LG Forum:
Try each of these steps if your LG phone doesn't turn on.

Verify that your LG G4 has a sufficient charge. ...
Verify that your phone, charging port, and battery contacts are not damaged. ...
Verify that you are using a compatible charger. ...
Attempt a forced restart of the phone. ...
    Attempt a hardware factory reset.

  • Mr. Pant, the first thing you should do is to contact the seller. Their response will determine your next move. In all likelihood, they'll probably just brush you off.

If this happens, try going to a local mobile repair shop to get an idea of the problem. Your phone is out of warranty, so in many cases it may actually be cheaper to replace the phone than to fix it. Good luck!

  • To my understanding it went dead after charging so what ever happens I am thinking maybe the phone shorted out while disconting or connecting cable to phone maybe port or plug shorted out just a guess can you get hold of another battery of a friend try that maybe port is damaged and its not charging or blew a fuse while charging

    • Thanks for your views. I was thinking that it was the battery. I am thinking of buying a spare battery to verify. Are there any fuses in LG G4, and where are they located?
      Thanks for your time.

    • Not the response that I was after, but thanks.

No please, you did not offend me.
          Have a nice day.

  • If you can't get any joy from the seller, the G4 is very easy to take apart, instructions available on ifixit.

I dropped mine in the bath and was able to revive it by opening it up and drying it. Obviously no guarantee you will be able to fix your wife's but not much to lose if binning it becomes your next best option!

  • I had the same problem with my G4.
1 Remove the battery for 1 minute and put it back in.
2 Charge the phone with the supplied lead and charger. Do not attempt to restart.
3 After 6 hours, remove the battery and reinstall it again, then try factory reset. Be patient, it can take a minute to start.
4 I tried factory reset several times before it restarted
    Good luck.

  • Thanks to everyone for your comments.
I took it to a repair shop, and it is the battery that has died.
    Ordered another battery on eBay.
In the meanwhile wife is happy with a spare Nexus 5.
    Thanks,

  • Try supplying 5V power with alligator clips and the battery connectors on the phone board. May be it's just the charging connector that has failed charging point or completely dead battery.
