    Half Price or Better:

I reckon this is a SCAM by the supermarkets.

    https://pricehipster.com/product/x0kVsy_2eKJVdST28U7x7A~BkG5...

One week it's $19, the next it's $9… It's not half price, they are artificially creating a high 'non-discount' price so they can claim it's half price.

    • +1 vote

Aren't most thinks marked up heaps?

But yes, pretty much a scam.

I guess the lesson here is to buy as you need and not just because "it's half price". Obviously getting it when it's on half price.. But you get what I'm getting at?

      • +2 votes

I guess the lesson here is

The lesson here is that we need more proper competition…

I guess the lesson here is to buy as you need

No the lesson here is to stop printing the number and allowing the scam to work. It has the effect whether you know what it is or not via the effect known as anchoring.

With David Jones you can make $10.00 per card

      • +2 votes

You have to use it at David Jones. Only 1 Visa you can use it pretty much anywhere.

          Probably 1 per flybuy customer?

Anyone have the catalogue to confirm?

        •

          @bandana:

Only valid at Coles Supermarkets, (excludes Coles online, Bi-Lo and Coles Express), subject to store availability. To qualify for this offer, you must present your flybuys card at the time of purchase. When purchasing ONLY 1 VISA CARD, a $5.95 purchase fee will apply in addition to the value of the gift card. No rainchecks. BONUS POINTS can only be collected once per flybuys household. Flybuys' privacy policy applies. Standard flybuys terms and conditions apply and are available at flybuys.com.au

        •

I wonder if me and my partner should risk trying 2 cards. There is a possibility that one of us won't get the bonus and we would be left with 2 prepaid cards and $5.95-$4.05=$1.90 out of pocket.

        •

          @superready:

I'd say that's a low risk worth taking.

        • -2 votes

          @superready:

Or just buy two DJs vouchers and don't be out of pocket.

        •

@superready: won't work, they are pretty good at detecting if and when the promo is activated

        •

@Turd:You're probably right. They never sent us the second card (registered over 3 months ago). I guess because the household address is the same. For the second one, we only have a number.

    • -1 vote

no you are not making $4.05 as you need to spend another $10 to use 2000 points.

      •

        No extra spending necessary.

2000 points were bought for $5.95 (activation fee) or $3.45 (using 5% discounted Coles eGift card).

When points arrive select $10 of goods, use 2000 pts to pay for that (you may need to redeem as FlyBuys Dollars first). The $50 credit on the Only 1 Visa card will probably be spent by then.

        •

it isnt it you still need to use to $10 on good from coles instead of you get instance rebate from the transaction?

That is to say you need to spend $105.95 and you are getting $100 + $10 to spend instore.

and do you think you can make $4.05 from coles when you need to purchase their products which they earn the profit from?

        •

          @LoveBargain15:
If what you wrote made sense, I would be more able to respond😯

Would love $100 to spend instore from this $50 visa card purchase - tell us how😀

  •

    Thanks TA 😁

  •

Those activation costs on gift cards are a pain. WOW managed to do an $88 ne this week with no fee, so it's not obligatory.

    •

You mean on the Only 1 Visa cards? On DJs etc no activation fee.

    • +1 vote

If there was no fee they wouldn't make any profit from it if you spent it down to $0.00, infact they would loose money. With the WW $88 card they are risking making a loss just to get people into the store.

    •

You will get 2k pts, which equals to $10(>activation fee) in Coles.WOW's eftpos card only saves you the activation fee,no other benefit.

      • +1 vote

Benefit is in combining with discounted wish cards.

        • +2 votes

For the Coles Only 1 Visa Card you can only get 1 per fb account.
The wow $88 cards you can get as many as you want or as many as you can find or afford.
The coles one is a credit card that you can use online and at the shops, but for some uses they charge you a credit card fee.
The wow one is a eftpos card that you can only use at the shops if they have a eftpos terminal, no fees on this one though.

        •

Can buy discounted Coles eGift Cards (eg blatchysblues.com.au 5% off) to purchase these $50 Only 1 Visa Card. Confirmed

          So $10 in points + $2.50 discount - $5.95 issue fee.
Pity can only redeem points once😢

Received free $100 Coles eGift Card for opening ANZ account, so will try buying with that.

Which one is better? Need a cheap emergency spare phone..

  •

$20 coles prepaid looks good for $10.

Might grab a couple for porting out between deals.

    Thanks

I am happy with seeing half price specials, as there are usually a lot of things that can be stocked up on. And I stack with other coupons like Coles triple points or bonus points offers received in the mail. Plus I use my Gift Cards that I bought at 5% off Coles.
I wish that there was a lot more competition on the healthier 'fresh' fruit and vegs though. I don't recall ever seeing 'half price' on these.

  •

    Frantelle include sparkling variety?

  •

    No Voss :(

  •

Does the Only 1 Visa card require activation by a Coles staffer?

    •

The system will prompt them to write the date on it even though it is already on the card. So yes a staff member will have to assist you.

      •

Is it just a matter of writing the date and you can use it straight away or the caahier has to activate it somehow?

  • +2 votes

Purchased the only 1 visa card had no issues paying for it with a discounted coles gift card & went thru normal checkout .

  •

Anyone knows if I could pay for the Only 1 Visa with a Coles Myer gift card?

  •

Has anyone received 2000 bonus points after the purchase of Only 1 Visa card?

  •

Really disappointed. Ordered 10x Frantelle 24pk Water on Tuesday for delivery on Wed, $5.75 each is great. They substituted all 10 of them for Coles water because 'out of stock'

Went into the Coles to get my dinner for tonight, and what do you know, Frantelle 24pk filling a shelf.

This seems like a switcheroo to give me something they make a massive margin on, instead of giving me what I ordered.

Before 'water is water' debate, our tap water is like drinking Pool water, there is something wrong.
