Panasonic KX-HN6032AZW - Home Control Kit + Shipping, Bing Lee (Online & eBay) $199

440

I have been in the market for a DIY security system. This wasn't what I was looking for but offers some neat features that might appeal to some.

"Kit includes four Smart Plugs, two Motion Sensors, two Window/Door Sensors and one Hub Unit*. Control lights and other appliances remotely and sensor monitor your home. You can receive alerts, arm and disarm system via smartphone/tablet.

*Requirements: 1) A wireless router with the internet connection; 2) iPhone 4 or later, iPad, or iPad mini (iOS 6.0 or later), or an Android device (Android 4.0 or later)"

The actual surveillance cameras can be purchased separately.

Caught my eye because its significantly cheaper than other places:

Myer: http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/panasonic-panasonic-kx-h…
AO: https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/panasonic-kx-hn6032azw-h…
Michaels Camera Store: https://michaels.com.au/products/panasonic-kx-hn6032azw-home…

Can be paired up with Bing Lee ebay deal if you wait till 30/1: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/289725

Shipping was cheaper by $1 when I tested my postcode on their website vs. ebay. May not be the case for everyone.
If purchasing from ebay - don't forget cashrewards.

i just checked one other shop. $482 at onlinealiances!!!! what a rip off!!! they said even save $170 omg…

  • Can anyone find any reviews?

  • +3

I have found a few reviews:
    http://www.smarthouse.com.au/automation/security_and_interco…

    http://www.trustedreviews.com/panasonic-home-monitoring-cont…

    http://www.gadgetguy.com.au/panasonic-connects-homes-with-se…

Looks like the app is dated and it lacks integration with other platforms or ifttt.

It also looks old from the date on the reviews. I am going to give it a miss.

I really want to have the option of adding google home or Amazon's eco in the future. I also have a harmony hub.

Does anyone has any suggestions of a system that works with the harmony and google home?

    • If you're tech savvy, you could use "Docker", and run it off a PC or synology NAS. Docker also works as a HomeKit bridge for non HomeKit enabled devices. I can now use Siri to turn on my TV, aircon etc.

      • Can you explain more? As I know this kit is communicating with the hub through the DECT technology only, and the hub connecting the router through Wifi. How does the "Docker" works with it?

Thanks for the deal. But I'll skip because no mention about Apple Home Kit. I'm after this compatibility.

    • Apple Home Kit is so bad compared to the competition. If you want your lights to work 30% of the time then go with Home Kit, but if you want something that just works, get an echo.

I have 20 or so lights and they work every time(through HomeKit). The reason why HomeKit is so much more advanced is the security. Both google and amazon openly acknowledge their security is whack, hence their lax approval process. You're mad if you get a smart lock without HomeKit support.

I think you're mad to intergration your smart lock into your home automation. The Kēvo 2 is a stand alone system which seems to do everything you could want in a smart lock.

  • I have Xiaomi kit and it'sone half the price all up and can knuckle around with it in future it will have IFTTT etc.

640x480 is okay for basic survelliance but I would strongly recommend 1MP to 3MP as a guide for the best quality footage

  • Does this interface with panasonic air conditioners at all? Would be good to have auto switch on/off, or deactivate when window open.

    • Only equivalent of turning power switch on.

Will this be easy to connect with my CTOS v2.0?

    • +1

      Yes, use DedSec app.

  • Can anyone suggest a good wireless sensor system with 3G ?

I am looking into this model, http://www.smarthome.com.au/chuango-family-home-security-sta…

If anyone has used this model, please share feedback.

  • I'd say hold off until tomorrow… 20% off Bing Lee eBay store:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/289725

  • almost gone unless they replenish stock tonight…

  • But isn't one of the benefits of this product is that it DOESN'T integrate with other systems and that you can't easily hack it's wifi components? You can set it to work without the app so no need to expose it? The thing that worries me most about all the ifttt xiaomi siri echo homekit tech is how easy hackable they are, esp if you're not a hacker yourself and know how to secure these things. Imagine dect is hackable but maybe less so??

  • Still in stock for pickup
