  • Just to be clear, this is last years model. New one has double the storage, is thinner and.. gets rid of nearly all the ports.

    • CPU Performance is very much the same (comparing the the 13inch non-touchbar right? - though SSD and RAM will be faster in the new model) - plus for the old you have USB ports and and SD card slot (which can be used to add more storage space (slower but fine for music photos etc)). Battery life is arguably as good if not better on this model. Price clearly favours the older model.

    • -4

and.. gets rid of nearly all the ports

You meant to say it has 4 high speed universal ports instead of 6 specific ports.

Ports which make it possible to connect two 5K monitors, external computation units (like video adapter which is very useful for photo/video processing, neural network programming, … computer games), transfer data at ultra high speed, charge from usb, etc.

      • No, I mean 2. If you want more you have to pay far more for the touchbar model.

I'm sure TB 3 is amazing but for a lot of people carrying a bunch of dorky adapters gets old fast.

      • Just like all those amazing Thunderbolt peripherals I've bought since 2011.. oh wait

  • If this is last years model, as mer Merlict's comment, I'll also note that the Duty Free on Swanston Street and Bourke was doing a 20% run out sale of discontinued Macbook Pros as well. No proof, as I just walked in and out.
