I bought these when previously posted. Love them!

    • 100% agree, almost want to another!

  • This or BD 770 pro 80 ohms?. I am after excellent sound quality.thank you.

    • +3

I think the 770 are more accurate. The 598 are sweeter sounding though. Both are awesome.

BD 770 is closed can, they are different type. Maybe you mean 990?

    • These are cheaper and have a removable cable so I would personally go for these if I wasn't so cheap. However these are open back

    Superb mesh!

Bought last time round. Awesome headphones:)

  • These sound wondrous especially if you have been listening to lower tier headphones before. Then again, I got the AKG712Pro and ASUS Xonar STX II after a short while. Now HD598 pales in comparison. :( :p

  • +1

How do they compare to HD600 and 650?

  • audiophiles with a budget: how would these compare to wireless / bluetooth headphones? the portability of bluetooth headphones, even with the loss of sound quality is hard to overlook i feel..thoughts?

    • -5

      do you even pyruvate kinase?

      • who are you man? i'm asking a legitimate question..

        • -4

          ill Succinyl your CoA….

    • Bluetooth are going to be more expensive, plus they will be closed back and will have an inferior soundstage.

If you're on a budget, expect to be paying more if you're going bluetooth. Also, if you ask audiophiles what their favorite headphones are, I can't imagine anyone picking closed over open. When you're out and about, you aren't going for audiophile quality, due to the din of noise around you.

You looking for something that sounds better but is intended for a quiet environment at home, or are you looking for portable headphones to take with you but don't mind compromising on AQ? Decide.

A pair of Bose QC35 are going to be way more expensive than this.

I received my HD558 from mwave a couple of days ago. Even though with a bit of research, I found out that the 598 is only slightly better in comparison (for sound only, obviously build quality is way better on the 598). But I paid $200 AUD for the HD558.

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    • Another case of Ozbargain regret!

  • I've been shopping for a new pair of headphones to replace my Sennheiser HD457s, which are 12 years old and still going strong, but are a bit rough around the edges now.

Had a couple in mind available locally at around $150 - $180, but decided to stop over-thinking it and go with these. They appear to have everyting I need at a price that's not ridiculous, and if my old Sennheisers are any guide they should give me many years of enjoyment.

Just hope there won't be any warranty problems - I've never bought any electronic goods overseas before!

Like Harro, I paid AUD144.79, so I'm happy.

I think the deal is over - the price looks like it has jumped to 170E

  • For what it's worth, circumaural in French is circumaural in English, not circum-ear.

Very clear sound, shocks me sometimes how good songs are on these vs. my car radio for instance. Not much bass, but that's not what you buy these for :)

Thanks OP, got one yesterday and the headphones are on the way from France. AUD 144 is really a bargain. Cheers.

I got these from the last deal.
Brings tears to my eyes when listening to them (and no, not even crying about the cost this time).

    • Are they the best you've heard?

      Are they really that good?

How does it compare to AD700/900, DT880/990/T90, Fidelio x2 is what I want to know.

      • I like them.
They are my best headphones, but unfortunately I have limited experience having not tried the ones you mention.
