Do Woolworths Sell Telstra Branded Sim Cards ?

Does anyone know if Woolworths sells Telstra brand broadband prepaid $2 sim cards (has to specifically be a Telstra branded sim, not Woolworths or other branded reseller) ? I'm in an unfamiliar area and need one super early tomorrow morning in store (no car, and the closest servo tried to sell me an expired one.. Woolworths looks like the only potentially viable option to try)…

  • They have $2 Telstra sims. May not have the Mobile Broadband variety but in my experience the 2/10/30 Telstra Kits for Mobile can also be activated on the Data Pass (broadband offer)

  • Yes, they usually do. Give them a ring to check that they have stock.

  • Thanks, there was a Telstra screw up with a prepaid usb dongle I bought, and after a lot of tooing and froing they suggested I buy a $2 sim and transfer the data over to that.. I suspect I need a broadband as opposed to a mobile one because I think they might possibly stuff up how the data expiries etc work in the transition. (the usb dongle is urgently needed to be given to someone else).

Thanks greenpossum for the tip on the phone call, I forgot to even consider that.

  • You can pick up any Telstra starter kit, upon activation you get to choose either phone or broadband service, since you said you need it in a hurry i suggest you get the $30 kit instead of the $2 one to save yourself the $2 overhead, until 13 feb you can get double data ie. 3GB + 3GB unless you need a bigger denomination or a lot more than 6GB

edit: never mind what i said, only saw the post above, that wasn't mentioned in the OP

Be careful with this - Telstra are fond of not allowing this if you activate it as a mobile broadband device. To get the extra data, you may need to activate it as a phone. It will still work in a mobile broadband device if you activate it as a phone.

      • i activated a data pass 2 early last month and received my 6GB, however in the past few weeks Telstra has been scrambling to make changes to plug loopholes, in doing so it's stuffing things up, personally i would avoid Telstra for the next couple of weeks

  • Thanks, I already have data on the existing sim with the dongle, and we decided to just take it day by day for now as we are aiming to use it to help with contact during palliative care.
