    Frigging kmart

I'd love to have my wife excluded from my local like you can do with a casino.

  • This deal blows air by using spinning fins.

    What an ugly fan

Ive always bought these kinda fans and only recently have I realised how crap they are. ( Actually I've always known they are crap but whatever)

A few weeks ago I bought a high velocity floor fan for 50 smackers from Bunnings and boy they are heaps better. Bigger fan blades, wider surface area which circulates much more air. Approval all round at my place.

Never will I waste my money on these type of twonky fans (from Kmart or any other store) again.

    • They're $100 at my local

      • The one we got is 50cm, 85w motor (3 speed, arlec brand). There are others much more powerful, perhaps the one you saw was one of those?

        • Good point. I'll check again next time

        • What was noise level vs speed \ air movement like?

Could you hold conversation without having to raise voice or listen to tv/ music without straining your ears when on highest speed level?

        • @StevieRay:

Air movement is good because it has a big blades and half decent motor.

Noise, well its probably a bit noisy on full speed but not an issue with my eldest. But I reckon you might struggle with conversation, music etc.

I guess any of the more powerful fans are going to be noisy

So this is just a normal cheap pedestal fan, but with fake weird-looking tripod legs?

    What's the bargain brag??

  • Only 40cm a little small

    • The 40cm is in reference to the diameter of the fan, not the height.

If I recall correctly, they're all around that size.

I got a 60cm from bunnings for around $69 pushes alot more air around the house

  • This deal really identified with me, in that I'm a white tripod fan, but geez I hate these types of fans. (sorry for the link with the link!)

Is it any good at cutting grass?

    • LOL… and a big ewwwww at your username.

    Best fan I've ever owned - http://www.graysonline.com/retail/HMMHSAC108/appliances-and-…

Quiet on low and it has the ability to move a decent amount of air.

My sister has a $200 vornado it's just as good.

    • Best fan I've ever owned…

The problem is that a pedestal fan is a highly visible device, and that Mistral is arguably the ugliest cooling device ever manufactured.

The Kmart tripod fans are a (failed) attempt to make something that is somewhat aesthetically acceptable.

  • misting fan is the go if you're a poor bastard for an a/c

    • +2

Effective if live in low humidity area, otherwise you'll just make things hot & sticky. Similar with evaporative air coolers.

    • +1

Misting fan is HORRID if you live on the coast, probably from Sydney northward.

Its the humidity (rather than heat) that causes the discomfort, and the last thing you want to be doing is adding more moisture into the air.

      • Lucky I live in country vic where its just dry heat lol

        • Saw you were from Vic & guessed a dry country area. I've noticed evaporative cooling widely used there. More cost effective than ac in your case.

There are passive solar for dry climate designs that can help. Some are common sense like keeping the heat out of your home during the day & opening up to let cooler night air in.

It's the evaporation of moisture that produces the cooling. Too much moisture in the air & evaporation & cooling declines.

          Keep cool😎

  • I'm blown away by this deal. Just spinning out over it.

  • "White Tripod Fan" lol..i represent that remark :P

  • They have super el cheapo at target for $15
Really terrible build quality, like really, really bad. I don't feel like I have expressed how bad the build quality is.

Its really bad but I bought one.

  • Bought this one one month ago.

Not so good in my opinion.
It's quite heavy and you have to move the fan to change direction if you don't want to turn on the swing button.
The biggest issue is the legs are long and take up too much room.
Only recommend this if you have lots of space in your room.

  • I purchased one for my Mother when it was so hot that the cheaper ones had sold out.. Sadly part of the metal snapped while putting it together, so I had to return it and was not tempted to purchase another, as it was $60+ at the time.

was told to post it on ozbargain or else.

    or else

I'm more interested in the "or else" part. Can you elaborate?
