Telstra $30 Starter Kit Expiring Today

Just wondering if anyone has tried using an expired Telstra starter kit? Did it work if it is a few days over the expiry? If not, has anyone tried to exchange it for another kit at Telstra shop or call up for an extension? I'm not ready to use this kit today but it's such a waste.

  • nope, expiry means it will be useless after today
    sell it on gumtree imho

Telstra aren't usually good at extending expiry dates, if they are 1-2 years old then I am not sure why you've left it so long as expiry is usually quite long

  • Left it in another drawer and didn't see it until this week. I've been using newer Telstra ones every few months and wish I saw this earlier.

Anyway, I recently found a half year old Optus starter pack and activated. I was surprised it worked so thought Telstra might be the same.

  • I activated a 3-month expired one, via Telstra LiveChat.
    Just smile nicely!!

    • I tried to smile nicely on chat today but they would budge. I just don't want to take the risk of going over the expiry date.

        would or wouldn't?

        • Sorry 'wouldn't'

  • I am actually curious…. What is the benefit of buying heaps of these SIM cards?

    • +1

To port in/out between carriers each month. The face value of these SIM Cards is usually $30, however Coles/Woolworths often sells these for $10. Therefore every month you are paying $10 for your mobile phone bill rather than $30.

  • There is still a way to use it as $30 Google play credit, just not on the main plan…. Look it up maybe.. can sometimes take a bit of fiddling around though

    • Nah, I don't use Google play. Saw it in the Wiki.

  • Activate it on Longlife and sell the credit on gumtree or cme2u to your current plan
