Woolworths Mobile $30 Prepaid Starter Kit for $1 in-Store with Woolworths Rewards Card or $3 Delivered Online

3890

Guys

Looks like Woolworths mobile fixed their system issues and it's now our task to test it.

Same as previous deal. Just that there is a limit of 1 pack per customer instead of 2.

update 9/6: seems Woolworths Rewards card now required in-store with limit of one per account

Update 11:25am: snappy1234 has reported the $1 sim card being available in store also. Check with your local store.

EDIT:
I have cancelled all the 4 orders($12) I placed early this morning via online chat.

Can confirm that it is $1 in store as well (Town Hall, Sydney).
Expiry date on the pack is 01/08/2017.

Limit of 5 per customer.

I managed to get 9 (went twice and luckily, the guy who served me initially was not there in the counter)

my last order made 2 weeks ago never arrived……

    • same here,not happy :(

    • Same here

    • I was in the same boat. Called them, gave my order number, and it arrived within the next 2 days. The phone rep also said that many people had made the same complaint.

      • I called them yesterday, and then confirmed today that they are gonna resend two sim packs to me, apparently the last order was delivered to a wrong address. Hopefully it can arrive safely to my door…crossed fingers

    • +6

      I received mine.

      • +2

        Got mine as well 😀

      • got both my packs as well, but they took almost a week.

    • Mine arrived in about 10days.

      • Similar experience here…

    • Mine arrived in a week.

      • Mine in about 3 days

    • Hmm, mine came a week ago, and is valid till 31/12/17. Drop them a note.

    • @Tidie Have u spoken/online chat to/with them?
What's the status of your order in their system. Just curious.

      • I think the status is "delivered", but apparently I did not get anything yet

        • I see, thanks for your reply. =)

  • When does it need to be activated by?

    • According to the last deal, 3 months of purchase, but when I received my cards it said it expires at the end of 2017, so i'm not quite sure.

    • +6

30th June to get double data (6gb)

    • Just chatting with rep online, the sim has to be activated in a year. Seems now it aligns with sim expiry date.

      • +3

In a year, or by SIM expiry date? They are 2 different things. I think all of us received a SIM expiring Nov or Dec 2017 from the last deal.
If it needs to be activated in a year, that would be what, by July 2017? But SIM expiry date means we'd have an extra 4-5 months.

  • +2

I ordered 2 last time and received both of the items last week.

  • +3

Best to stockpile because I'm assuming this is a new batch with December 2017 expiry. Either way it's cheap!

  • Shame it's only 1 per person :(

Gotta order them one by one instead of 3 or 4 at once, hah

  • +2

How good that be if this price is in store aswell and save $2 delivery…

    • +2

      OzBargain stampede 😁

      • +1

        That be good alright.

    • -5

      It is in store!
Underwood QLD self imposed limit of 1 per customer
Springwood QLD they had on a rack (not behind service desk) and I bought 14

  • Livid! did this when it was $15 + $2 postage! arghh

    • I would never consider paying more than $5 for a sim card…

    • You can try to get $14 reimbursement. =P

  • +2

    thanks! missed out last time

  • Ordered two. Guess that's enough. hah

  • thanks. ordered 2

  • SWEEETTT!!! Ordered another one

  • how are people ordering more than 1? using different card for each purchase?

    • +1

      2 names 2 cards

      • +1

Don't need to use different name or card. Just place second order with same details. It's 1 per order, not 1 per customer.

        • Yep ordered 20 online last time ($1 each, 2 per order, $2 postage =$2 ea) they sent express, in boxes of 10 labeled "send to customer service desk"
          8 online today (8 orders)
1 in store first store, 14 second store (second store didn't limit)

From what I've noticed, older stores without self serve checkouts have then on display, so hard to limit

    • +5

      2 names, 1 card

    • +4

Same name, same card, same everything really.

      • +1

        same email?

        • +1

          Getting great 4G service.

        • +1

          Yes, same everything.

  • I now have 4 sim cards. Has anyone had trouble registering their 2nd, 3rd or 4th simcard?
    This is a great deal!!!!!

  • Is this plan based on 30 days or the sneaky Telstra 28 day plan?
What 4G band does this work with?

Awesome deal (again). Thanks for posting!

    • +2

      according to website 30 days

      • I found that out in the critical summary.
Still not sure about the 4G bands used.

        • my mrs has ported over and its 4G

        • @Bullion78: they know it is 4G. their question is what 4g band it uses. thanks for your effort, anyway.

        • Same 4G bands as telstra.

  • -1

I purchased one and started to use their services. honestly, i don't enjoy using it.

    • +1

is it worse than amaysim? I had terrible coverage on the outskirts of the CBD with them.

      • You meant to say Optus?

      • similar experience. I would be with Amaysim again later.

    • This is on the telstra network. Does your phone use 850mhz?….if not it's gunna be poor. If you have. Telstra approved phone it will work as good as telstra boost etc

  • +1

can we get the same price in-store?

    • -4

      No

    • yes you can. I got from CrowsNest Woolies

  • does anyone know if this data can be used for overseas travel?

    • +2

No international roaming available on this service :(

      • dammit, thanks for clarifying!

    • +4

      Not for $1

  • +1

I've registered 6 so far. Just use a different emails each time. Same card is fine

    • Wow….same name? Just use a different email address?

    • +2

I have purchased 3 cards, same name address and email even CC, it went through

      • just tried using all same details(name, email, CC) on second purchase ..denied! "Error while processing the transaction please contact Support Team"

        • May be they have figured it out.

          different name?

        • @LoveBargain15:
tried again..just changed first name..all good now!

        • +1

@Gr8deel: if youre using gmail you can add a + and extra characters before the @ and emails will still go to the normal email address.

        • I have two sims registered under the same name and email right now.
The two numbers both show up on the left of the page when Im logged in.

        • @phil1311:
Thanks for today's edification, I never knew you could do that to Gmail. I am not sure if it will ever come in handy, but it was amazing to add a "+" before the @ and see it work. I also added "+2016" and it worked. AMAZING!!!!!!

        • +2

          @jovialjosie2002:

it really comes in handy when you create accounts with random websites. Just add +spam and filter the junk emails.

      • Worked for me as well.

      • +1

Same here. 2 orders, same name, same address, same phone, same cc, all went through.

    • Haha nice.
      Going hard at it huh?

  • Is it still bonus 3gb if activated before June 30th?

    • Yes

    • Yeap

    • +1

Yep 6 gig before June 30. Then I think it's back to 3, i am using it for overseas calls at the moment. $1,000 is about 100 minutes to Philippines. That's the cheapest overseas calls I have ever got to Philippines. Normally $0.10 per minute (Aldi). This deal is $0.03/minute. Ofcourse the deal sucks when the recharge is $30

      • Maybe best just using a free messenger chat app over the internet, or VOIP.

        • Doesn't work in most parts if Philippines…..poor network

  • cheers much needed, my windows 10 PC burnt through the last Woolworths sims (12gb) without me doing much.

…..just wondering is there any gateway programs/apps that I can run to log the traffic ? Alternatively, it would be nice if i could access my own metadata and make use of this $400 million dollar (snooping) service.

Interesting, that my Win 7 PC will use around 6gb in 10 days, with a similar usage the data for my win 10 PC lasts around 4 days ( I have tried to turn off the auto updating, but it always seems like it's upto something I haven't authorised it to do).

    • +5

You know you can set a wifi connection to "metered" so windows doesn't use data for updates and system downloads?

      • +4

But if you are tethering your phone with a usb cable or usb modem, there is no way of stopping the updates, Windows 10 sux.
I went back to Windows 7.

        • ….kinda sucks, last time I rolled an OS back was from Vista to XP. That time I never got some of the drivers to work properly……….. So how's the 7 roll back working out? I might try the same, the PC came with 8 (which sucked) so I thought 10 would be better.

        • +1

I did a fresh reinstall of windows 7, takes some time but I would rather have control of what my pc does thanks very much.
I'm trying out Linux Mint on an old laptop as I am sick of Windows controlling crap. So far it's been good, looks like this will be my next operating system when Windows 7 gets too old.

        • Download WinUpdatesDisabler_x64.exe.

I use it to prevent Windows from chewing up my bandwidth updating and also forcing restarts.

I manually update once a month by disabling this tool, then run it again to block updates for another month.

        • @lostn:

All that tool does is change a setting in windows to disable automatic updates, which you can manually do yourself through a setting in Windows. No need for a third party utility to do it.

        • @28Degrees: Cool, just discovered the new PC(Win 10) doesn't have Bluetooth due to updating issues(seems common), Windows rollback here I come …looks like I have got a project for Sunday arvo.

    • +1

      turn off all autoupdating/patching

      • +1

Have you tried this with a tethered phone or usb modem? As far as I'm aware you can't.
