Woolworths Mobile $30 Prepaid Starter Kit for $1 in-Store with Woolworths Rewards Card or $3 Delivered Online

3890

Guys

Looks like Woolworths mobile fixed their system issues and it's now our task to test it.

Same as previous deal. Just that there is a limit of 1 pack per customer instead of 2.

update 9/6: seems Woolworths Rewards card now required in-store with limit of one per account

Update 11:25am: snappy1234 has reported the $1 sim card being available in store also. Check with your local store.

EDIT:
I have cancelled all the 4 orders($12) I placed early this morning via online chat.

Can confirm that it is $1 in store as well (Town Hall, Sydney).
Expiry date on the pack is 01/08/2017.

Limit of 5 per customer.

I managed to get 9 (went twice and luckily, the guy who served me initially was not there in the counter)

  • Got some with expiry 12/2017. I guess I wont need a plan for awhile.
What's the best way to port out of the Woolworths card and then port back in to use my starter packs?

  • Anyone been to woolies at Macquarie centre?

    • Macquarie Centre - sold out.

  • +2

Just went to grab some at Armadale WA store. Younger female at counter very friendly gave as many as I liked. An older gentleman saw me asking over the counter and said ill get some too if you leave me some. I laughed and said 'ozbargain?' He clearly wasn't one of us because he said 'yeah what a bargain'…

I got 7 and he must have grabbed 5 himself.. still some left I might grab more tomorrow.

  • Auburn NSW sold out.

  • Same happened with my purchase, staff said all same barcode when I queried this. I think I will call customer chat line tomorrow as I also wonder how credit added to each individual card.

    • +3

These are not gift cards credit is already loaded onto the card.

If they weren't valuable they would be kept on the shelf next to the gift cards and not locked at the front

  • Apparently some guy has gone all around the Hobart stores and bought them all. Still managed to get a few but it seems I could of got about 50 if I didn't leave it until closing time.

  • +1

none at either of carnegie woolies.

  • @lkp thank you very much for this info, much appreciated.

Next time just click on the grey "reply" under his comment to reply directly to him ;)

Haha lucky i am always scrolling through ozbargain :P

      • I am a new at ozbargain, great site.

        • +1

No problem. Looks like you're learning quick as you've successfully replied to me :) Welcome

    • +1

Not a problem i had heaps of questions when i started sim porting too :)

      • +1

I had stayed with same mobile provider for much too long. Just ported numbers out on monday, Saving money.

  • Is it possible to port out from Woolies mobile to a different carrier and back to Woolies straight away?

    • Yes but i wouldn't say "straight away" porting takes time depending on your carrier. From experience Vodafone is a bit touch and go i would get free optus sims from the coles express deals if i were you but i prefer to use a different carrier each month for convenience

      • Thanks for your info. My current Woolies sim expires in 20 days and hope to activate another woolies sim before June 30 to get double data.

        • +1

          No worries!

    • telstra and optus porting usually takes less than 1 hour on normal day, vodafone is hopeless, sometimes take next business day to process.

      • naw. vodafail usually port in just under 2 hours for me. telstra took longer.

        • try porting after hour or weekend, vodafail will not process it until 10am next business day, on the other hand, Optus and Telstra still do porting until late, at least until 8-9pm (not on a Sunday I think).

        • @lgacb08: 10am next business day! you got lucky! I didn't get ported until 3pm and that was only after I went on the online chat to ask if they could do it.

        • -1

@lkp: yea the thing with telstra (and boost) is their online porting always fail, you have to chat em up to get it activated. such a nuisance.

      • I ported from Amaysim to Vodafone on Tuesday, it took 10 mins.

    • Just be aware that porting may not work on weekends for some providers. So time your activation carefully. Got caught out once. spent a Sunday without coverage.

Bought 1 after trying 3 Woolies. Seriously though people buying like 10…….

    • Well they will just put them back up to $30 next week if unsold.
Data is expensive, why shouldn't you be able to buy all you need when it's cheap
I don't think anyone here or 99.9% are buying for anyone but themselves and friends and family.
      Seriously

      • +1

Agreed. I picked up 5 as i use wireless internet so under 17c per GB is pretty darn good for me.

  • NOT AVAILABLE again! Ugh! Just saw this and it's already sold out.

  • +1

Man… whoever is in charge of their marketing should have waited 30 days since the first promo to see how many people recharge their sim.

RIP marketing manager. You didn't know what was coming.

    • Or possibly this is a tax write off that woolies is profiting off.

      • Um I'm pretty sure they already have a big enough tax write off with Masters as they are.

  • Backed to stock for online purchases but only allow order 1

  • Just checked again woolies and the price is back to $30. Oh well.

Went with some friends and purchased every last sim at our local woolies as they opened this morning. The cashier needed to confirm with the manager that we could purchase more than 1 per person. The manager came out and congratulated us confirming we can purchase 5 per person. Afterwards, we went to Coles Express and purchased a majority of their $10 start kits for $1. The cashier there said there was no limit per person.

The look on the cashiers face when she buzzed up about a thousand dollars on the register for just a few dollars was priceless.

    • Why did you even purchase the $10 starter kits? is it even worth it?

      • +1

To port in and out. Yes it is worth it.

        • fair enough, much better rather buying a $2 sim which has no value included.

        • @angelkulit025: Yea but a $2 SIM costs $2… that $10 starer kit cost $1 lol

        • @illumination: that's basically what i have said!

        • @angelkulit025:

I got confused because you left out a word
I wasn't sure whether you meant "rather than" or "I'd rather" because there was a word missing

        • +1

@illumination: sorry my fault =( yep, mind was too quick and hands weren't able to catch up. Apologies.

    • Wait the $1 Optus sim at Coles are available nationwide?

    • What's the expiry date on those Optus $10 start kits?

      • Didn't check before buying… they are all Dec 2016. Will still use them all by then.

  • hi guys, does it have to be authorized in the counter upon purchasing? you know, like those skype gift cards?

because i got 2 of these and when i put it in my phone, it says sim registration failed and no service available.

    • +1

you have to register it first online like any other sim cards.

      • ah thanks it works now. so weird because usually with other telcos and mvnos you can use their network to activate the sim the first time you put in your phone.

  • None at Woolworths Granville NSW

  • I tried to cancel the multiple orders I placed for these kits online - was told I can only cancel one order as per T&C. Anyone experienced this?

    • yes one of the chat rep even told me that they are packed and shipped just after 3 hours of placing my order.
Just disconnect and try again with a different agent. worked for me.

      • Tried another rep - apparently a note has been placed on my order account that no cancellations are allowed.

        • Just try calling them

        • @spk: By the way, did you use 'General Enquiry' for the online chat?

        • @spk: All good - tried a different rep this afternoon and they cancelled all of my orders on the spot.

  • None at woolies preston south, is the price still same i will try other stores anyone please confirm..

  • Town Hall, Revesby, Padstow r all sold out

  • I just went to purchase 2 at my Woolies and it didn't give me the discount until I scanned my rewards card and I was only able to purchase 1.

    • ahh.. may be new way to put the limit on. Not thinking about getting 4-5 rewards card, are you? ;-p

      • +1

Didn't they have a stack of reward application forms in woolies that has temporary card in it? :)

    • Is that not illegal to advertise a product and then reveal a "conditions apply" when asked for one?

  • Went to woolies this morning, and the price is back to $30. I asked the store assistant, and he said yesterday was scanned out to be $1. Woolies must have revert the price overnight.

    • Was still working for me at 7am.

      • well, early birds get all the worms.

  • Still working after scanning everyday rewards - my local has another 5-6
Only 1 at a time able to be purchased - Exp 1/8/2017

  • Just been to my local woolies in Mackay and sales person said she'd never heard of this. She even rang the next woolies at the big shopping centre and they have no idea about this offer either. She said they received new stock yesterday and none of these were received :(

  • None at kelmscott wa, they wont rain check either.. Damn missed the deal twice

  • Just tried Walkerville and Marden in Adelaide, both had stock left.
Walkerville I could only grab one, and it only worked after scanning Everyday Rewards card. Guy wouldn't let me get more.

Marden, they still had the $1 ticket out so I was able to get one free for it having the wrong price (not sure why), then asked and was able to grab 5 more @ $1.. took ages because the system was saying they were $30, but success in the end.

    • same for me.
I bought 5 but the price were $30 not $1 and store manager proceed manually with one free as price error.

  • +4

Plenty of stock at Robina Town Centre, had to scan Everyday Rewards Card to get it for $1, only 1 per transaction, maximum of 2 per card.
The girl who served me grabbed a temporary card and scanned it to let me buy a 3rd!

    • +2

What a helpful sweetie. Now thats great woolies service

  • just have canceled online 3 order,
then went local woolies , but could buy only 1 after scaned EDR card.
    damn…

  • +2

Looks like more of us will get a chance to buy now, now that they are limiting the number of purchases.

On the flip side, less chances to get more from those who need more.

Anyone managed to find any Dec 2017 packs in Eastern VIC?

    • Yeah i found some at my local but all sold out now

      • May I ask which store that is?

  • +2

Quite a few 10+ expiry 08/17 @ Ferntree Gully Vic. Got the price reduction $1 by scanning EDR card.

  • Scanned as 30 dollars in Westfield Woden. Don't have a Woolworths card so couldn't try it out.

    • +1

Just grab a blank application as it has a card in it. Scan that then put it back.

  • The helpful young lass at my local Woolies is happy to sell me however many of these I want to buy.. But I'm a total Noob with porting etc. Should I buy one, or 50.. how many do you need, ideally?

    • +1

They expire in December 2017 so probably not 50…also depends if you plan to port between different providers each month or use a cheap sim to port back to woolworths. You need as many as you plan to use before the expiry depending on how you choose to port.

I would use woolies cards every second month and a different provider in the months in between.

    • Buy 50 and give them as birthday or anniversary presents. Give the rest out to Ozbargainer who give you their address.

      • Woolies sim to woollies sim calls are free so stock up and give to friends and relies
Could be big savings for people

  • Woolies Loganholme Qld had the yellow sales ticket showing $1. Cards scanned at $30 so they put them through manually for me after commenting that they had scanned at $1 yesterday. They only had 5 left so I got them all. Then went to Beenleigh. They had heaps on the hook. Scanned at $30 and was told I had to use the rewards card to get it for $1 and only one per card. I used 2 cards but I don't know if it is per card or transaction. Might try again with a different checkout operator if I could be bothered.

    • Woolies at Burpengary had plenty of sims but didn't know about offer. Agreed to sell me 10 based on the online link. However dramas when scanned at $30 - I didn't have rewards card with me. Given the reception and grief I was getting decided to bail. Imagine if they well selling baked beans there would be no drama!

Went to new Morayfield they had the price sticker advertising the deal so when it scanned at $30 the agreed to sell 5 and reset the system

Went to Westfield Morayfield they had heaps and agreed to sell me 10 but drama when scanned at $30. Used an image of wife's reward card and it would only discount 1 card. Attempted to do multiple purchases but seems only 1 card per rewards card.

Maybe go back and get a heap of temporary rewards cards?

      Cheers Jeff

They scan up at full price now. I took one to the self serve and they are 30 dollars.

    • +1

Did you scan your everyday reward card?

    • NOT SO. EDR card must be scanned to get the discount.
Purchased one at 3 different stores pm hrs fri 10/6 nsw 2285/2283 area, plenty of stock, just use a temp rewards card and it removes $29.

  • Do i need a new $2 optus/vodafone sim each time i port out and port back to woolworths each month? Or can i use the same $2 sim if i dont use the credit.

    • You need a sim which is different to current one to port out

      • Yea but I can't use a 2nd Woolworths sim to port out my current Woolworths sim right?

So I need to use a random $2 Optus sim. my question is do I need to get a new $2 Optus sim every time I port or can I reuse the one Optus sim? Thanks

        • +1

You'll need a different sim to port out, and also a sim for each time you port.

        • @Obey:

Thanks for the info. I guess cheapest 'other' sim is them $2 ones.

  • Ok so I literally just made an account to ask this… If you already are on another carrier (amaysim) in my case why would you wanna buy this? I totally don't understand people who buy multiple of them, like what is it for??? like whattt. You have lots of phones or something?
