  • What android version can these be upgraded to? *

    *Android newbie

    • I am running 6.0.1 (Indian telco firmware release that I loaded 6 months ago, it was all that was available in marshmallow at the time)

    • Currently running 6.0.1 on Telstra with official updates.

      • Lol. Welcome to October 2015.

        SMH Samsung.

And that is why I would only consider getting the Google pixel or an iPhone.

        • Works for me. I'm happy buying new old phones at 1/3 the cost of a new model because my needs are basic. I'd rather spend the money on something I value more.

    • It can't, buy a Moto G4 Plus which can be upgraded to Nougat (Version 7.0)

For the millionth time, the S5 is not Note 7.

      • +2

Yeah, that joke is really getting old.

      • ( and for the millionth time, no Note 7 exploded. They 'just' caught fire…)

Nice deal. Samsung phones just seem to go on forever. Still using my ever-reliable S5 for multimedia purposes now.

My S5 has slowed down like nothing else, so getting a new phone soon, the Huawei Mate 9, and then will use the S5 as a GPS or something, after wiping it.

    • Wiped and reloaded my S5 on the weekend. Good as new now, and battery life improved from not lasting the work day, to lasting 24 hours with medium use.

Noticed it was painfully slow, but after the wipe I can't believe how slow it was before.

      • Cool, will try to that on the weekend. Will still have a new phone though, should be fun :)

  • Can run latest 7.1 using a custom ROM but at the expense of warranty.

To be honest if you can run the official version 6.0.1 and disable any bloatware and possibly run a custom launcher like Nova and a few tweaks like Greenify you're not that far behind Android 7. Many of the big new functions are in the google apps these days, though not quite all.

    • Enjoy not being able to unbundle Gmail notifications.

      • Not quite sure what you mean. Gmail notifications can be turned off from within the app regardless of Android version…

If you install a custom ROM like resurrection remix you can block notifications even if they can't normally be disabled in the app, and if you're still on a stock ROM you can root the S5 very easily and install xposed that has modules that can do the same.

It is a S5 16GB…. Someone actually buying for $367? Hopefully you won't regret everyday for the next 367 days.

    • You can easily whack a 128Gb SD card in it, unlike the galaxy s6 or the iPhone or many newer phones.

I don't get all the negative comments here???

This is a pretty good smart phone, and for $367, the specs and quality ain't far off the more newer models.

  • is this guaranteed to be on sale this Thursday 9 feb

    • Yes, I guarantee it.

I just smashed my S5…need a new one urgently.
        Thanks nocure !!!!!

  • Bit old round the Gills now, 2014 still up there for $370 you can grab other models like Motto G Plus. Wait till march new models coming, like A5 2017 etc.not far of this price.

  • Seems like very limited stock in most places, and Officeworks haven't dropped their price yet either. But honestly would just prefer to buy it from big w with a wish card (if it wa available in my area).

got 1 of 2 in local officeworks this morning, did a pricematch $348. should do what i need.. cheers!

  • Called Officeworks yesterday, they refused to price match over the phone to buy or hold, despite their website stating, "You can redeem the Lowest Price Guarantee (LPG) by visiting your local Officeworks store or phoning in. " Said I had to go in store.

Today, they've dropped the price to match Big W, so no more price match and 5% off.

Anyone had a similar experience with Officeworks refusing to price match over the phone? As I couldn't get to a store until the weekend I can't help but feel I've been cheated out of saving 18 bucks! :-P

    • Cashrewards egift card and go bigw buy it.

  • My sm906s s5 has 3gb ram
    Can't justify a replacement yet.
