Offer was available here in WA until about a week ago

  • Is this confirmed? Is there an expiry date?

    • +2

      Yes it's confirmed start/Expiry date 15/2-7/3

  • Can the sundae be swapped with an apple pie?

    • +1

      nah you can't

      • Can you add additional toppings (ie. Oreos) to the sundae?

        • Probably for like $0.50-1.00

        • @Putnum: this makes this an awesome deal considering, at full price, McFlurry's are about $4.50.

@tomsco: I recently discovered the heavenly taste that is the new HJ chips. Never eaten there before really, and not fussed on skinny fries like Maccas in general, but these HJ ones are amazing. Salt is a nice flavour too, and I would go so far as to say they're superior to KFC chips. All KFC chips i've gotten the last few times have been under (or un) salted, fairly soggy with barely any ones with crunch. But the HJ have all been crunchy outside, soft inside and a nice amount of (god damn delicious) salt. I'm converted. Their chicken burger was better than my much loved McChicken too….Need to try their cheeseburger though, as McD's is the bomb.

@jpw007: this is so true. I don't miss the shoestring fries at all

        • +2

yeah the bigger fries stay hot longer , and less surface area also means only 1/2 the fat of shoestring fries. I really like the HJ fries.

The shoestring fries can go cold and soggy very quickly so I usually ask for some from a fresh batch if at maccas.

        • @garage sale:

Yes agreed. Better fat to chip ratio. More healthy

        • @jpw007: agreed, the new HJ chips are awesome! almost better than Red Rooster's which have been a bit soggy lately, KFc chips have been awful for a yr or so, kinda stale tasting. No need to try HJ cheeseburgers, the 'meat' patty has no flavour at all, Maccas ones are far superior.

        • @iluvpizza:

the chips are great, but sometimes they put a bit too much seasoning on them and you end up having to drink a litre of water to get that salty taste out.

        • @jpw007:

The new HJ chips converted me from the beginning (when people were throwing shade)

Their nugget crunch has also improved, (McNugz still da bomb)

I really can't go back to the Maccas chips which are mostly too thin/oily and soggy all together. It's rare I am satisfied by Mc Chips!
They are so weak in comparison to KFC/HJ

KFC chips is also hit and miss sometimes.

Hj is now the most consistent in my expewrience (although I only go to 1 place haha)

Note to mention that Burgers were always better at HJ than Maccas. drool The smokey flavour as opposed to some bland patty….

        • The chips definitely can be overseasoned but most i've really enjoyed. Had some underseasoned the other day that made me a sad panda :(

Their nuggets i can't get into. It's just a bit oily/flavourless to me. I actually prefer the McD nuggets, but none compare to glorious KFC nuggets

        • @steveclassy2: yes they 'were' better but no longer the same product, HJ cheeseburger meat has no flavour, Maccas ones win hands down. Whoppers are still pretty good but not as good as the old days, like us old geezers always say lol

      • They allowed the swap

  • +2

burgers are better at hungry jacks

    • -5

But the fries are terrible. Also McDonald's doesn't use microwaves unlike HJ

      • +27

While I agree with you on the microwaves, the new chips at HJ's are AWESOME…

        • -8

          You're kidding! They're terrible.

        • +4

@cqbman: Agree to disagree, I happen to like thick chips…

        • +4

@vger74656: agreed - the thin chips at HJs were atrocious and I avoided the burgers as I didn't want the chips. The newer think chips are much better and are a reason why I want to shop at HJs now.

        • +3

I'm the same I use to avoid HJs because their shoestring fries were so much worse than Maccas. Now the playing field is level.

        • ok i havent tried the "new" ones, but their fries are terrible

        • @gizmomelb:

HJ is going up hill. I hate the fact they remove the Dinner bundles, like WTF.

Tonnes of vouchers here and there tho …

  • Start date in title please

    • +2

      Done

  • +1

so good! love the sundaes and they are like $3 on their own! wish this was in syd - we never get any of the good deals :(

  • Op, what do we need to ask over the counter to get this deal?

    • +1

      "g'day, can i please have a 4 for $4? Thank you."

      • +5

Except I'll be saying 8 for $8 ta.

  • Best combination would be the Oporto's chips + HJ Whopper + Subway self service coke + Subway cookie = best junk meal ever!!

  • +1

Omg yes! Finally love for VIC

  • +1

Well I guess his answer the question I had previously when I ask if Victoria gets an offer in lieu of the free small chips and drinks with the Big Mac offer for the other states/territories.

    • +1

yeah, the free fries and coke with the big mac (small mack meal about $6) was great, at full retail it seems expensive.

I only go to HJ or maccas if there is a special deal on or coupons, else its an expensive snack.

  • +2

    Bottled water… sold

  • +1

Does this mean the 24 nuggets for $9.95 will end before 15/2 ? Seems unlikely McDonalds would give us more than one value option at a time.

Can a double fillet o fish meal be made to be around $6?

  • Founder!

  • why doesnt mcdonalds like ozbargain taking screen shots, its free advertising for them…

  • Can the cheeseburger be swapped for a McFeast?

  • +1

Just had one for lunch. Thanks OP.

    • No worries mate!!

  • are there any T&C saying limit of one per customer per day or anything?

    • No there are no limits

      • thanks but i already found out before your reply by ordering 2, so in reality not really saving any $ lol. I had to put one of the sundaes in the freezer for later ;) The fries were pretty crap as usual, seems to be only good when just cooked nowdays.

        • Yeah not gonna argue maccas fries are pretty crap. I never liked it even when it was fresh. The only way i can eat them is with Angus seasoning ( sort of like Nandos peri peri chips)

  • Can you order a Calciyum for the drink so the meal is cheaper than $4? I don't drink soda.

    • Nah you can only get Fizzy drinks or bottled water.

    • Soft drink, ice tea or water only.
