      never use paypal

      Never ever!

  • -7

this is all too easy, there should be more to it :D

and yes CC is the way, PP is so unreliable for these COTD freebies

    • +8

Right….but you never posted any links to those freebies even with that program you claim to have scripted that took few secs to sniff it out. why so tight?

      • +5

I agree why brag if you're not going to share???

        • +3

          Brag or lie?

          • @anthony: Just plain selfish.

            • -2

@polkadots610: Yes it's all a lie :D I'm innocent…. you guys should google macro programs or autoit.. i think that should point in the right direction ;)

Just sayin they should make it harder so we have to do more things to find it, giving bargain finders a real chance, rather than people who have scripts/programs who can automate this finding process within seconds!

            • -2
              • @Wally: Don't you guys agree? If there's programs that can easily do this, and COTD ends up making the hunt more harder by introducing some human-like obstacles than we at OzB will have a chance and it won't sell out within 10mins to everyone who can automate this…

                • @Cripto: I don't think it's THAT much of a problem. I mean it takes a bit of time for someone to find it. Once the link is released on Facebook/OzB, it's gonna sell out very quickly regardless of how well it was hidden.

                  • @JR63: Human-like obstacles like randomizing where the hidden freebie appears, so no one can just leak 1 link and hundreds of people will instantly get access to it, if it's dynamic, then everyone will have to work towards finding the freebie themselves if they really want it, not just leach off 1 finder, this will prevent it selling out quickly and for those who really put in the time and effort will get it. there are probably more ways you could make it challenging but that's just one simple yet effective idea

                    • @Cripto: It'd get frustrating tho, especially with the amount of people, and your about to click the link, and it changes. It'd also be a lot of work, for not much benefit on their behalf.
And it doesn't make a difference to them whether it gets sold out in 4 mins or 40 mins anyway.

                      • @JR63: The link will not magically disappear off the page if once you've found it, nor will the amount of people have any relevance/effect to how the randomization will work, it simply randomly puts the freebie link on different pages after maybe 60 seconds. This way only a few people at any given time can get the freebie before it get's moved for more people to try find it.

And maybe to stop automation scripts, on other pages put "Hint: Goto page #x" or similar, which will lead upto one page, maybe 10 pages with hints which will it hard for people who have cheats and a tiny bit easier for the general audience. Or as more freebies are given away, more hints arise by increments to allow people who missed the first few rounds to have a chance whilst they're still looking. These hints can maybe be put on random pages also to make the guessing more easier, or the actual hint number will change, which sends them through a unique chain of action until their goal is reached.

This way the freebies will last much longer, from 10mins to 1hour+, because it's only for people who want to spend time finding it rather than just getting it because it's free when they don't want it that badly. I think it does make a difference to them, they accept feedback from FB to make the challenges harder because they like to see more gratitude from the winners and simply just want to make it more harder, seems as though OzB/FB wants them too as they're sick of coming on and seeing it's sold out within minutes from the looks of comments. This is just my opinion anyway to make more challenging giveaways, and also to resolve the race against internet connections (poorer connections will have a chance), or the race to checkout (checkout issues), and ultimately to give everyone who keeps missing out a chance.

                        • @Cripto: Yeah I do see your point. A lot of the people are getting it for the sake of it (can't say I'm not one of them, tho I only got the ones I will put into some use).

I reckon if it was made harder, the freebies would last for quite a while. With your idea, moving it every 60 seconds, still makes it quite hard to find (depending on how many links you have), cause there is a lot of items on that first page.

It does seem like a lot of effort for such small things tho.

                          • @JR63: Yeah good point, for the small things it might very be frustrating, maybe only for the $50+ items? or even bigger items? make it hard to get like this instead of just first come first serve like it is now, this will make the big items worthwhile and you'll feel the efforts were worth it

Oh, but hang on Creamsoda, you haven't ever linked one either, Mr "havent missed one yet yesterday or today."

        • lol i'm not the one claiming i can find bargains with in a few secs? i fail to see how not missing a bargain with CC check out have to do with finding it?

          • @Creamsoda: i guess it doesn't matter which method is faster since I live in WA and cbb figuring out the time difference so by the time I open the page it's already gone. but you haven't seemed to be missing much, yet you haven't shared links but you ask me to.. whereas i've missed them all except 1 lol

oh and by the time i found the link it had already been posted by 4 people… that just shows even if you have the fastest program you still need to be there at the right time :)
