  • darn. just placed an order this morning!

    • Cancel and reorder if it hasn't been shipped out yet.

      • +1

too late. they shipped it about 1hr after placing the order. Record time. Or at least record time for someone to click the button in the system

        • I just did the same as you but ordered yesterday and I was a little annoyed that I didn't wait for this deal! However I just chatted with them online and they nicely agreed to apply it manually. I'm sure you could do the same =)

  • Thanks for the code. Just placed my first order. The shipping cost was so cheap (cheaper than some Australian companies I order from)

  • My code was prefilled when I went through checkout. Does it work more than once?

    • Yep that should be the case as I put the link as http://www.iherb.com/?pcode=PROMOTEN to apply it automatically. It'll only apply once.

      • Yep, just tried it with another order, says code is invalid.

    I got me a bamboo pen! :D

  • Usually everyone comments 'getting 6 boxes of quest bars' but I have tried a few in America and here but don't really find them to be tasty at all. Is it just me or do other people not like the taste?

    • The reason they were so popular is that, the ingredients were good. Now their ingredients have changed, personally i love the taste but the new ingredients tends you very hungry. cookies and cream were probably the best

  • I tried to checkout >80AUD and on the checkout page it tells me "Shipping method (Aus post) not available: Carrier's weight limit has been exceeded." And then adds ~$45 shipping from the next courier.

    Or is that just me?

    • +1

I believe your cart might be full of items that have exceeded the 10 lbs (4.53 kg) weight limit for AP. You should be able to see how heavy all your items are together under the shipping totals.

      • oooh, I see. Silly me, yes I had 6kg of stuff since I was buying food and laundry supplies. Thank you for shedding light for me.

  • How does MusclePharm bars taste like? Say in comparison to Quest.

    • Anyone? Have always gone quest but keen to give musclepharm a go too

      • +2

The Musclepharm ones remind me of a the ol' Chokito bars. Crunchy and gooey at the same time - a nice change to the Quest bars.

    • MP has a chocolate coating with the inside being which ever flavour you choose (personally enjoy the choc chip)
Quest is more similar to a uncle tobys and just one flavour

  • +3

Iherb has gone down last few months with discounts, usually it was 20% then they went to 15% and now its 10% lol. But still better prices then buying locally.

    • Replace months with years.

  • The syntha 6 protein crisp bars look good.

  • I'll wait until Woolies have their Aussie Bodies Hplc bars for $2.50/$3.00 again. At 100gm a bar, they are much better value.

    • +1

I love it when they have those sales. 45g of protein per bar instead of 21g for these Quest/MP bars.

It's the only time I actually eat protein bars. Otherwise shakes.

This is a really unfair comparison

HPLC bars are low quality and not really low carb/sugar as they use Malitol.

Maltiol is the cheap and nasty alternative to sugar when companies want to make a lot of profit without making a healthy product.

      • -1

So what you're saying is that they use no sugar?
        Thanks.

        • They use Malitol which can be a lot like sugar.

YOur HPLC bars are a waste of money. Sounds like you don't care about health or nutrition though.

        • @samfisher5986:
I'm part Endo, part Meso. I'm cutting at 2900kcal, currently at 10%bf @ 90kg. I am VERY susceptible to fat gain from overeating carbs and I MAX out at 200gm of carbs a day on a HEAVY legs day; on any other workout I'll aim for 100gm and if I'm not training I'll aim for a no-carb day. My carbs are only ever sourced from brown rice, sweet potato or oats.
I have one HPLC bar a night for dinner. A $2.50 bar with 45gm of protein and 4gm of carbs which taste great. Or I could pay nearly triple that for Quest Bars, which also taste great.

In my case, 19kcal of 'Nasty' non-carbs is fine with me.

          @KLoNe:

You can do exactly what you are doing with a wide range of replacements for that HPLC bar. Its not doing anything special for you, you could probably buy one of those sugar free chocolate bars and be the same.

But for someone buying a product for a specific purpose, HPLC shouldn't be considered as you can pay a little more for a much better product or even pay less by using something else like protein powder.

        • @samfisher5986: Great value, perfect macros, zero effort at night and it tastes like a treat/dessert.

Happy for you to show me a substitute.

        • -1

          @KLoNe:

I'm not saying you should stop eating it. If you are achieving your goals then great.

      • I'm all for people sharing information but your comment just saying an ingredient is cheap and nasty without saying why or backing up your claims is not helpful at all.

Each HPLC bar contains 9g of maltitol which equals 19 calories worth of maltitol (or sugar if you will). Each bar contains 45g of protein which is 180 calories worth of protein. The bar is called high protein LOW carb and not high protein NO carb. 180/19 ratio to me certainly qualifies for the claim of high protein low carb. Are you saying you don't consider this low carb because of the 19 cals worth of 'sugar'?

The comparison on the bars is still fair because the main costly component of the bar is the protein, not the small amount of artificial sweetener each bar uses.

I eat the bars mainly as a protein supplement and 19 cals per bar worth of 'sugar' is not going to have any material impact on my diet. If it will break yours then go ahead and buy your quest bars that cost twice as much per gram of protein but to say that HPLC bars are a waste of money for everyone is just ridiculous.

        • -1

To put it simply, Malitiol has a high glycemic index as well as the fact that if you go over your threshold will give you Intestinal discomfort/diarrhea etc. Everyone has a different threshold but the point is that even small doses can give you a mild effect.

But that's not even the whole point, the point is its a cheap and inferior sweetener which you are welcome to eat, but you can't compare it to a a high quality bar because the high quality bar has expensive ingredients in it for good reason.

        • @samfisher5986: Are you suggesting that 5g of erythritol sweetener they put in each Quest bar somehow makes it cost twice as much as an HPLC bar even though it has half the protein?

          Come on man.

        • -1

          @Xastros:

No, look at all the ingredients.

  • FYI:

    • iherb charges in foreign currency so best use a card like 28 degrees
    • the free shipping has a weight maximum of 10lb (4.5 kg)
  • Damn, ordered from these guys for the first time last week, an extra 10% off would have been nice.

Was really happy with the service. Item arrived after only a few days.

Only issue I had was that the shipping estimate was much larger than the arrival time (expected arrival in a few weeks, item arrived within a week). So I paid more money to buy the same item from a competitor with an express postage option (and now have double). You live and learn I guess.

  • Apparently there's a new king in town. http://suppz.com/blog/oh-yeah-one-bars-vs-quest-bars/

    • Where are these sold?

      • They're on the site.

    • -3

Nope they have been around for a while and there is a reason why everyone stayed with Quest, they contain Malitol.

Maltiol is the cheap and nasty alternative to sugar when companies want to make a lot of profit without making a healthy product.

  • Just walked into woolworths and picked up a few quest bars on special for $3 each.

    • Is this nationwide? I didn't see it posted anywhere

      • Not sure, I got them from the Craigeburn Woolworths.

      • Yeah nationwide. Started yesterday.

  • Blueberry Muffin best flavour
