Looking to Buy a TV for My New Place

bit of a back story *** purchased a property and currently own 0 appliances.
The girlfriend and I have sorted out the couch, washing machine & fridge. I'm now looking for a bigger TV for the place.

The below T.Vs have been discounted. Which TV of the two is better

  • If you have the funds I would go for an OLED tv and not an LED. The difference is chalk and cheese. I realise some people can watch LED TVs, but I'm not one of them. :)

    • Haha, thanks for the suggestion. I wouldnt be willing to spend 3k on a TV. Otherwise would have to get a smaller TV and not willing to do that either

  • +1

Panasonic's are fairly terrible these days. panasonic used to make stunning LCD and Plasma TVs but they then changed their business and now they suck. Viewing angle on their panels is awful, just go look in a store and see for yourself.

I have an 8 year old Panasonic and it looks better than their new TVs.

    • oh really, I have only seen the Samsung TV in store. I might go with the Samsung has really good reviews & is on sale. Unless someone has a better suggestion around the 1k mark

      • Go stand in one of those bigger Harvey Normans or JBs where they have the giant wall of TV's and look at an angle from the side down the wall, You'll notice the Panasonics are barely visible from the side. Other brands are not perfect but Panasonic would have to be near the worst of the major brands.

Samsungs I found to be pretty good for a wide viewing angle.

Viewing angle isnt everything but it's important to many people in a lounge situation where people are watching TV from all sorts of angles around the room.

        • Hrmmmm viewing angle is not the most important aspect for us but I understand it would be for others.

  • In that price range, consider a projector:

If you watch mostly reality TV, or are unemplyed and watching during the day, TV is OK, but if you really want an immersive experience in film and games, you just can't beat a 110" screen.

    • lol no interest in reality TV & neither of us are unemployed (thank goodness). Errr I like the idea of a projector but I'm going to regret it big time during set up and use also it also has added costs such as surround sound
