    Thanks OP and I certainly won't neg the deal but I won't be buying this either. Digital downloads are painful if you have more than one console. Some are tied to the console. Others are tied to the live account. Some require internet connection and Live to work even in single player mode, and some will be crippled to a trial without Live.

    Just this morning I was setting up a 2nd hand Xbox 360 for my kids to go to my mother in law's. We've had Xbox Live for the Games with Gold for a couple of years now and it's mostly been great. I've also kept an eye out for other freebies. When I copied across Joyride Turbo I noticed that it wouldn't work under the account my son uses. Even when I copied my profile across it wouldn't work. Only when I copied the save games from the profile I claimed it under AND logged into Xbox Live using the same account would I get the full version. I tried with the network cable unplugged and it went back to being a trial and asking me to buy the full version, which of course I couldn't without an Internet connection. Once Xbox 360 Live is discontinued…which will eventually happen…might be this year, might be next, might be 2020 or beyond…all these games will just stop working!

      It's not hard to work out. It's tied to the console it was purchased on. Anyone on that console can use it. If you want to play it on another console, only the purchaser can, unless you transfer the license, which is easily done.

      You can't say that's any worse than a physical copy, you'd only ever be able to play that on one machine simultaneously, here you can play on two consoles simultaneously.

      They won't stop working, so don't spark fears.

      Digital downloading is the only way to purchase if you have two consoles.

      If you are buying for kids, you keep licenses on their machine. Simple.

      • -5

        Not all games are tied to the console, and there is no easy way to work out which ones are.

        I have a lot of games that work just as well in the lounge room as in my study on different machines.

        Did you miss the part where I said disconnecting from the Internet caused the game to revert to trial mode? I'm not "spark[ing] fears". They're genuine and well founded concerns.

        • +3

          Go to license transfer, do it.
          Then click download on each one that you claim don't work (won't have to download the whole game) and it'll work. Done.

          If you can't do that, well you'll lose them. The rest of us arent losing anything.

        • -3

          @scuderiarmani:

          I can transfer it to another console just fine. But i have to be logged in with the same gamertag I purchased it with, and I have to be connected to Live.

        • @syousef:
          Im not explaining it anymore.

          I told you how to fix it.

        • -4

          @scuderiarmani:

          Well I am going to explain it to you since you believe you know how it works for all games but you don't.

          • Some games have what I know see is called a "roaming" license for the console. Others are tied to the console.
          • Some games are tied to the gamer tag. My experience is that for some games the profile just has to be on the box, while for others you have to be logged on for that gamer tag.

          Here is what I get straight from Microsoft:
          http://support.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-360/store/download-conten…

          What is "digital rights management"?

          Content providers such as the Xbox Store use digital rights management technology to control the usage and distribution of games and other content. This content is protected by media usage rights that allow specific uses of that content.

          You receive a licence to use content when you purchase that content. The licence has two parts:

          The system licence. This licence applies to the gamertag that purchases the content.
          The local licence. This licence applies to the console to which you first downloaded the content.

          Can I transfer a content licence from one Xbox 360 console to another?

          Yes, you can transfer content licences to a different Xbox 360 console. However, you can only transfer a licence once every four months.

          What is a "roaming" Xbox 360 console?

          The term “roaming” means using content that you purchased on one Xbox 360 console on a different Xbox 360 console. For example, you download a game from the Xbox Live Games Store to the hard drive on one console. Then, you attach that hard drive to a different console. When you attach the hard drive to the second console and sign in to Xbox Live, you can play the game without any restrictions.

          Note You must use the profile that purchased the content to sign in to Xbox Live.

    • +3

      Yeah that's how it works on the 360. When you purchase something , anyone can use it on the Console it was originally purchased from, and the account that originally purchased it can use it on any console. You can transfer the licences to another console if you want.

      • -3

        Many years ago in the 360s infancy, you couldn't transfer licenses. I actually sat on their support line for hours about it. They actually refunded me to another 'dummy' profile, so that I could purchase it again. Was a huge issue with the 360s poor reliability. I remember a few of us doing the same, talking about it in the forums. Luckily they fixed that.

      • -3

        Please read what I wrote.

        I had to
        - Be logged on as myself. (My son's account wouldn't work.)
        - Be connected to the Internet
        - Have a saved game from my other console in the machine's memory.

        Otherwise it reverted to trial version.

        Some games are tied to a partical console. Others are not. This one is tied to the account, but cleary there is some verification happening against Xbox Live servers.

        • +2

          Saved game files is irrelevant. It's the license.

        • @scuderiarmani:

          I don't know why the save file made a difference. Perhaps it was a network glitch. But I can tell you that if I physically disconnect the network cable it reverts to trial mode. Would you please take a bit of time to understand what I am writing?

        • @syousef:
          Read my posts, you'll be able to fix it.

          It has NOTHING to do with saves.

        • +1

          @scuderiarmani:

          I'm sick to death of talking to you.

          No the console license is not the only form of validation going on, and it won't fix all problems with all games. I've linked to Microsoft's site and tried to be nice and explain my experiences, with links to Microsoft's own description. You want to be condescending and think you know better. That's your issue.

          I have dozens of games with what Microsoft calls "roaming" console licenses. They work fine on multiple consoles. I'm only using one copy at a time though.

        • +2

          @syousef:
          Did you try my fix?

          No.

          I have two 360 consoles, I also had 2 xbox ones, they work 100%. I know what I'm talking about.

          A simple licence transfer on its own doesn't work. I told you over and over.

        • @scuderiarmani:

          I've got dozens of games with gold. i have more than 2 xboxes and I download most games to multiple machines. So here is what i do know.

          • Console license transfers work once every 4 months according to Microsoft's site
          • There are 2 forms of DRM mentioned by Microsoft on their own web site and they talk about roaming console licensing.
          • I can reliably disconnect and reconnect the network cable and start Joyride Turbo using the same profile on the same console. If the cable is connected it works. If the cable is not connected it comes up as a trial and offers to let you buy it (which fails if you try because buying it requires a network connection)
          • I can copy the game between consoles and use it on each without going through your suggested license transfer.

          You can call me a liar until you go blue and imply I don't know what I'm talking about. But anyone with Joyride Turbo, multiple Xbox 360 consoles and multiple gamer tags can verify what I've said.

        • @syousef: just buy an xbone m8 ;)

        • @Iggemo:

          I can get 4 Xbox 360s for the price for an Xbone. And my kids are too young to care about the improved graphics or exclusive games. I got my last Xbox 500GB console for $99 brand new, kinect used for $15 and controllers for <$20 used. And I can pick up decent games for $0.75 to $5 used.

        • +2

          @syousef:

          I have two consoles. My wife can play every single one of my digital games on her machine downstairs, under her profile.

          I can play them all upstairs on my console, on my profile.

          I told you, transfer all your profiles licenses to your kids machine.

          Next… Download each and every game again on their machine. If the files are already there, it won't download the whole thing, just 1-2%. But that's fine.

          Done.

        • @syousef: $100 is not bad but then you see the fallout xbone deal posted this week was $284 for an xbone and then you're current gen so comparing a 2005 system to a 2013 system, $100 to $284 - not sure which is the better deal tbh?

        • @scuderiarmani:

          Different games do DRM differently.

        • +1

          @syousef:
          Name them.

          I have about 300-350, none have an issue.

        • @Iggemo:

          If I upgrade it'll be to Scorpio and there will have to be a compelling reason.

          I don't like the idea of having to install all my game discs.

          It's not just the price of the console. I'd need 4 controllers to keep my wife and kids happy. The controllers cost 3x as much as well. The games are a heap more expensive too. I picked up GTA V for 360 for $10 the other day at Harvey Norman on their clearance shelf.

        • @scuderiarmani:

          My issue was with one of the Call of Duty Games. May have been COD 2. Can't remember. I have also had a problem with a couple of the Games with Gold Games. Viva Pinata or Viva Pinata: TIP I think.

          Just google for "Assigned to another console" and you'll see that not everyone resolves their issues.

          More links and info. The last one talks about content not working if not connected to Live which is what I'm seeing with Joyride Turbo.

          http://support.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-360/store/error-message-c…

          If you try to download previously purchased content to a new or refurbished Xbox 360 console, Xbox Live will recognise that console as a different console. Therefore, you won't be able to download the content. You may get the following error message:

          Content assigned to other console

          Redownload content to a new or refurbished console

          To resolve this issue, set your new or refurbished console as your primary console. To do this, you must first download something new from Xbox Live to your new or refurbished console's queue. Then, download your previously purchased content. Here's how:

          http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/store/download-conten…

          Why do I get the error message "This item cannot be transferred between profiles" when I try to transfer content to a different profile?

          You can't transfer some items that are stored on your Xbox 360 console from one profile to another. For example, you can't transfer Xbox Live Games Store content to a different profile. If you can't move an item to a different profile, download the item using the second profile just like you did with the original profile.

          Note You must re-create some items in the second profile. For example, you must re-create a saved game under the second profile.

          http://support.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-360/store/cant-play-downl…

          Can’t play or use previously downloaded content on Xbox 360
          If you’re having trouble playing or using content you previously downloaded to your Xbox 360, there are several reasons this could be happening:

          There might be a problem with Xbox Live.
          You might not be signed in to Xbox Live, or there might be a problem with your Xbox Live connection.

          You’re trying to download content that’s associated with another Microsoft account or Xbox 360 console.

          I didn't. And those games work perfectly fine on my wife's machine.

          I've explained how to do it. How about try first.

          If you are going to state that downloading games is bad, when in fact in your scenario it's ideal, it's going to attract negatives.

          @scuderiarmani:

          Dude. Quit it. I am not the bafoon you seem to be implying I am. I transfer games all the time. I have hundreds as well. SOME OF THEM DON'T WORK.

          @syousef:

          Obviously you are. Call of Duty and Viva Pinata are fine for me. As is EVERY other game.

        • @scuderiarmani:

          Here's a challenge for you. For the next week try using your Xbox 360 without a network connection when you're not multiplayer gaming.

        • -1

          @scuderiarmani:

          I'm done talking to you. You're a rude little troll and a bully. Unless you have Joyride Turbo and are willing to try out what I said and prove to me that Joyride works without prompting to upgrade from trial without a network connection, go abuse someone else. I've provided 4 links to Microsoft's own advice on DRM.

          @syousef:
          Have you transferred all your purchases to your kids machine?

          If so, did you then go to the store and CLICK DOWNLOAD again in their machine while signed into your profile for each and every game in your purchase history?

          No. You didn't. Because if you did, they'll work.

          I've moved consoles many times, never once had an issue since they implemented it.

        • @scuderiarmani:

          What part of done talking don't you understand? Last time:

          That isn't the problem I first reported. I can already get Joyride Turbo to work on both machines. No connection to Live == No full version. Capiche?

        • +1

          @syousef:
          Microsoft have already postponed turning off Xbox 360 servers, and they won't be in a hurry to commit another PR suicide given the state they are in. Not unless the vast majority work on Xbox one anyway.

        • @syousef:

          You are beyond help. Capiche?

        • @scuderiarmani:

          Did you fail basic comprehension???

          My first post: "Once Xbox 360 Live is discontinued…which will eventually happen…might be this year, might be next, might be 2020 or beyond".

          How is repeating what I said a counterargument?

        • @scuderiarmani:

          You have no argument. So let's start with the childish attacks. "Beyond help" because I disagree with your precious self on a forum? Try a little perspective.

          And don't waste your time abusing me. I doubt there's anything I haven't heard. And I couldn't care less what you think of me.

        • @syousef:

          Xbox 360 live from memory had upgrades to differentiate it from the original Xbox. A simple going online to verify your purchases isn't a demanding task. Online servers are turned off all the time, and from memory COD2 may have… Disc or download, that doesn't change a thing.

        • @syousef:

          Good. Lose your games.

          Can't follow basic instructions, I don't give a shit.

        • @scuderiarmani:

          Online servers that let you play multiplayer are a whole other issue, and a whole other reason not to buy those games. We're talking about servers verifying a license.

        • @scuderiarmani:

          I'll have to let me co-workers know that scuderiarmani on Ozbargain says I can't follow instructions. I'm sure to be sacked. Pathetic!

        • @syousef:
          They've already postponed it. I told you.

          And with backwards compatibility it's a mute point anyway. I'm counting down the games I care for to be added and I'll sell my 360 consoles. Mortal Kombat vs DC, Burnouts, Fight Nights and I'll probably off it.

        • @scuderiarmani:

          Backward compatibility means nothing. MS could easily continue Live support for Xbox One and end it for Xbox 360 with a very simple check when you log on. Even more simply by updating the login code for One and not rolling it out for 360. Either would then force you to a new Xbox One console while letting you keep the games.

          They aren't doing this yet but they will do it.

          I own PS2 consoles and I can still play every game I bought on that. If I owned an original Xbox, 2010 would have been it for anything requiring Live including Xbox originals downloaded to 360.
          http://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-live-10-permanently-sh…

          They stopped making the original Xbox in 2006 and it got 4 more years. 8 in total. 360 was released in 2006. It's already had a longer run. It won't have too many more. I'll be buying disks and staying away from games that only have multiplayer.

          As I said. If you're so confident, give it a try. Disable or disconnect your 360 from your network for a few days and use it. See what's different.

          If you want to buy a One, that's fine. Doesn't mean everyone else does. Costs a lot more than $14.97.

        • @syousef:

          My games would work perfectly fine on the machine my licenses are located. Online or not. Hardly something I can kick up a stink about when they do actually work as intended.

          Backwards compatibility is everything here. Digital libraries are being preserved, even original Xbox titles may be added one day too. Don't go saying if this and that happens when if hasn't, and you have no proof of will. A good chunk of my digital purchases are now playable on Xbox One. I'd say, given this game is also backwards compatibille, your whole argument from the beginning is irrelevant and wrong.

          Backwards compatibility is everything here. Digital libraries are being preserved, even original Xbox titles may be added one day too.

          478 titles out of 1182. Closer to 1 in 3 than 1 in 2 and you talk as if it's a done deal. A lot of the games will never be compatible, just as a lot were left behind moving from the original Xbox.

          I would have fixed it about 500 times over by now.

          This game is backwards compatible. The Xbox One will be continued from this point on. Microsoft have stated that they won't release a successor, it'll become like a PC. So yeah, this game will be quite fine, especially $15 worth, but obviously that's not good enough for you.

          I'm sorry did I use facts and link to things that hurt your feelings?

          The first volley shot was: "Im not explaining it anymore. I told you how to fix it." then "Read my posts, you'll be able to fix it. It has NOTHING to do with save". I remained calm despite basically being told I was mistaken or a liar. Then I actually linked to a source.

          We are talking about game licensing and how it works on the Xbox 360 and I gave you links to Microsoft's own description. And you think that's irrelevant? Or did you think the fact that Live for the previous console was dropped was irrelevant when the crux of what I was saying is that one day soonish that will happen for 360 too?

          So yeah, this game will be quite fine, especially $15 worth, but obviously that's not good enough for you.

          Yes. It's not good for enough for me. That was my point. I won't be buying it. Only took a "wall of text" for you to get it. I would like to retain control over my purchases. Not have them taken from me at the whim of a company. How shockingly unreasonable of me.

          If you own SSX from games with gold, go ahead and try to download it.

    Yesss ! Now i have Earthlock, Lost Odyssey and this to give me my JRPG fill on Xbone, thanks OP!

    • I wish Lost Odyssey was cheaper, $40 for such an old game hurts. I used to have it on my 360 but sold that off and now I have an XB1S I want to play with BC. I'm afraid if I get the disc version from EB pre-owned then it's going to be like RDR and do a full install for each disc =/ Would love to have it digitally, why can't they get reasonable pricing.

      • u missed out when it was given away for free? oh man that sucks!

        • Yeah I didn't have an XBOX at the time and I remember loading the page/deal multiple times on my PC/phone and even going so far as clicking redeem but I guess I didn't get to the final redeem screen or my phone timed out or something because when I got my XBOX One the deal had expired by 4 days and it wasn't coming up in "My Games".

          I spoke to XBOX Support agent at length about it for almost an hr but the guy didn't know the promo existed at all and told me that Microsoft doesn't give support agents the power to apply entitlements to your account or issue CD keys to redeem them. Seems like Microsoft could learn a thing or two from the EA Origin support agents.

          I made a post about it on reddit but the users there thought I was trying to steal the game, was bizarre.

    also worth noting that even tho it says it's 12 gig, when you start downloading it on xbone it jumps to 20 gig (it did for me at least)

    • That's beyond frustrating, even XBLA games like Sonic go from under 50mb to around 500mb… Fills a hard drive with bc titles in no time.

        wonder why they become bloatware with back compat? Either way im so glad back compat is there.. i just bought Catherine for $4.50 on the store and played it through cos i never got round to it last gen - so cool to catch up on gems i might've missed previously on the xbone

        • In my mind I'm thinking it's some 360 system files, but yeah I have Nfi, and it bugs me. I had a large 360 digital library, and I've now almost filled an 8tb on my xbox one thanks to bloated 360 games. First world problems I know, but it's weird.

    Great game, also goes by "Baby's First JRPG". It's seriously easy, except for that final boss, but still great fun all through. Too bad it's nothing like the darkish themed manga, was a big fan of that.

    Also a quick tip, check EVERYTHING. Every pot, wardrobe and anything else that is checkable, they may be worth more if they're empty…

  • Deadpool worth $24?

      In a word, no. Minimal upgrades over 360 I believe. Also lowly rated.

      Nah. Been waiting until it hits $10 to buy it. Oddly for like a 5 year old game (on 360) it's never quite gotten there.

  • When Blue Dragon first came out I had to have a few days off work for the flu. I played the hell out of it and remember it to be an awesome game.

  • Looks like Dragonball z kinda

      same artist

  • $15 seems expensive considering the age of the game. Still, may get it for the wife.
