Kogan Replacing My LG G4 under Warranty, Which One to Pick

Hi,

My initial purchase was LG G4 4G LTE LG-H815 (32GB, Leather Black) for $650 something.

Although I would have loved another G4 or G5 may be, Kogan has offered following 2 options:

  • Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (32GB, Silver)
  • Sony Xperia XZ (32GB, Black)

Usage pattern: I am not into gaming, good battery life is important. I do most of reading on mobile (chrome).

Any reccomentations or another strategy/option Kogan could accept?

Thanks you in advance :)

Update: Accepting reccomendation of majority: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (32GB, Silver)

Thank you!

  • What are the things that are higher priority and what's lower priority? camera, speed, expandable memory

Definitely considered some of the less established brands such as one+3, huawei and xiaomi. All make solid devices nowadays, some with decent battery life

i wished they offered me an s7 when mine bootlooped

If you want a refund they have to give you one. If you're not interested in either of the replacements, push them to get your money back.

I've been down a similar path with Kogan. First things first, decide which phone you want. Ignore their options and just compare what you want with the lowest price you can get for it. If one of Kogan's offers fits the bill and it's best price or close to best, take it. Otherwise, take the refund and shop elsewhere.

  • Samsung S7 Edge, pretty much top of the line mainstream smartphone. I think you'll be very pleased with how it runs, both companies coming from Korea doing very similar things with their phones. It is a little different from your standard phone with the edge but expandable storage, excellent camera, excellent display what is there not to like. Sonys have always been a nightmare IMO, their older phones lag really bad, take ages to boot, APN doesn't get detected automatically. Sony is defs behind in the smartphone area, have had a lot of friends not enjoy the sony experience.

  • my LG g4 in september 2015 and just now it got stuck in the boot load. can kogan give me an exchange or give me a money return?

    • lol, depends if youre under warranty

      • how long does kogan give warranty?

        • 12 months so youre out of luck

        • @sinishta: damn it

        • @gbones:

Mine was lucky to bootloop 11 months in so just snuck in under warranty. They gave me a brand new g4 production date may 2016

U got 1.5 years out of it I'd say you did well

        • @sinishta:
i email kogan and they want me to send it back for an exchange or store credit. not sure to do that or repair it. I called LG and they are willing to repair the motherboard for $253. not sure what to do

        • @gbones:

          not sure what to do

You don't have a lot of choice really. Pay $253 and wait weeks for the phone to be repaired, or just buy another phone, whether it be through an exchange with Kogan or elsewhere. Worth looking at all the current C10 eBay deals.

        • @IceCreamBandit:
LG can fix it within 1 hr they told me

        • @gbones:

Seems reasonable. Well it's up to you then, you can get a new phone for a little more money, or if you really like your G4, then get it repaired if it's a convenient option.

          @IceCreamBandit:
i love my g4. they just cant confirm if they replace the motherboard that the issue wouldnt come back again

        • @gbones:

          For 253 I'd buy a redmi note 3 pro

  • FYI if anyone else is in the same position, you can also ask for a credit towards an iPhone. I did this with my partner's LG G4 and Kogan gave me a very good deal. Made me feel a lot better about dealing with them in the future. Still enjoying my own LG G4, but wouldn't pay another $253 compared with getting a Kogan replacement/credit.
