Volvo XC60 D4 on sale - how much discount is the norm?

Hello,

The above car is currently on "summer sale" for $59,880. They charge additional $1900 for metalic paint.

What sort of a discount is the norm off this price? The sales person sounded like no further discounts are available as this is a Sale price.

Is it normally the case that when a car is on sale, no further discounts apply?

My wife and I are currently in the market for an XC60 Luxury D. We went to the Volvo dealership in Berwick to discuss options and will look to buy this weekend. Although the sales price was $59880, I did get the impression that there was room to move.

The sales guy did mention that a lady who had just picked up her new car paid @ $58,000. Which is a little below the sale price.

If we end up buying I will let you know what we got it for. Note that on top of the driver pack that comes with the car we will also option the heated seats and tow bar. I will check on the price of metallic paint while I am there.

Note that I believe the sale ends this week.

    • Thank you for the information TheWiz71. I am very keen to hear the price you can get and perhaps I may order from them too if they deliver interstate.

I also asked about the tow bar which they said about $1500.

      Privacy tint - $650
      Heated seats - $450

This is what they told me

geez, they are pricy seeing you dont get some basic extras already included like privacy glass and heated seats.
$1900 for metallic paint is a rip, I would push for half that (but I prefer white anyway)

        • geez, they are pricy

pricy for a swedish model? c'mon.

        • @whooah1979: pricey for the options that should be standard I reckon.

      • No worries.

        A couple of other things….

I was told that generally heated seats are $650 and tow bar was $900, but as a package they wouldn't itemise them, it would just be one final cost for the car and options.

I guess that saves on customers looking for the best deal and coming back to dealer A telling them that dealer B quoted a cheaper price for a particular option even though as a complete package dealer A was cheaper.

    Took the plunge yesterday.

We initially got a price of $58,000 which included the DSP (which is part of the sales price) however also got the heated seats and change of inserts from the wood to piano black (although this should be a $0 changeover given its only a change of colour)

We then asked for metallic paint and a tow bar. We tried to deal for a price of $59,500 but with little luck.

Ended up getting it for $60,500 with the following additions
    DSP*
    Black Piano Inserts
    Metallic Paint
    Tow Bar
    Heated Seats.
    3 year Free Servicing*

(* is already part of $59,888 sale price)

    Good luck.

    • Thank you TheWiz for coming back and reporting your experience.

Was there a car with this configuration already in the dealership or country? Or, is this a custom order that will be built?

Also could you PM me the sales agent's name and the number so that I could speak to them and whether they could do a similar deal for me?
