Really good price for the specs from what I've researched. Other retailers sell a similar model but only have 8GB of RAM or 128GB SSD.

The only comparative deal I've found is the Asus GL702VM with the 20% off Futu ebay code for $2079.20

  • HDMI output is only 30hz 4k.

If you are spending $2000 on laptop then HDMI should be atleast 60hz 4k.

HDMI 2 is still rare, but this does come with Mini DP 1.2 though which can do UHD @ 60Hz.

Good deal, apart from the large size and heavy weight. These are for people who use them as desktop otherwise I couldn't care less about the HDMI port!

  • This looks perfect for Mass Effect Andromeda:

    • I don't know how a 6700HQ compares to 3570 or 4790.

Laptop CPUs are low TDP and are not directly comparable to the same class desktop CPUs.

Been looking at these laptops. The MSI has the GTX 1060 - 3GB version. The ASUS GL702VM has the 6GB version, it also has G-Sync and Thunderbolt 3 (good for future proofing e.g. hook-up external GPU). With 20% off from Futu at @ $2080, i think the Asus is better value. You do get additional 1 year warranty from MSI.

    ASUS ROG GL702VM-GC005T:
    $2,079; i7-6700HQ; 16GB DDR4; GTX 1060-6B; 256GB NVME PCIE SSD; 1TB HDD; 17.3" FHD IPS 75Hz; Gsync: Yes; Thunderbolt: Yes; Warranty: 1 Year

    MSI GE72VR 6RF Apache:
    $1,998; i7-6700HQ; 16GB DDR4; GTX 1060-3B; 256GB NVME PCIE SS; 1TB HDD; 17.3" FHD IPS 120Hz; Gsync: No; Thunderbolt: No; Warranty: 2 Years

    • The MSI's GTX 1060 comes with 6GB and the ASUS panel is only 60Hz according to their descriptions. Harvey doesn't say whether the panel is the 120Hz one.

    • From the Harvey Norman Website:
      MSI GE72VR 6RF Apache

      GPU Chipset GeForce GTX 1060
      Graphics Card Memory 6GB.

      Not 3GB version.
