How to avoid international transaction fees when visiting the US

Hey guys,

I will be going to the US soon (Las Vegas) for a one week software development training programme. :)

Anyways, for my daily purchases how to avoid the fees on my Australian cards? Is there a prepaid card I can buy with zero fees or something like that?

Thanks!

Am not asking for credit cards with no fees. I cna find that info myself. I need a short term solution for a week.

Something like prepaid cards or any other means of paying for purchases. Thanks!

Those are the 'cards' to choose from though to avoid the fees, some are credit cards but your best option is to open a citibank plus account and use the debit card linked to the bank account.

If you don't have a credit card i.e 28 degrees, then just change straight cash now. Avoid fees altogether. Have fun in Vegas!

    • Thank you :) looks like cash it is.

Stop using cards ? There's this thing called cash you might wanna try…

  • The Citi Plus debit card is a great card for travel. No foreign fees for ATM withdrawal and purchases.

  • Is there a prepaid card I can buy with zero fees or something like that?

If there is how would they make money?

    • Understand a one time fee. But per transaction fee is the issue.

Perhaps i cud load up a pre paid card there with cash and use that.

      • No they arent there for your convenience - although that would be nice. They make money only on the fees. Enjoy the trip
