I want a hammock

I've never owned a hammock - never even used one. I randomly just thought to myself that It would be something really cool to have in my backyard.

How much can I expect to pay? What should I look out for? Do you think I'll ever use it, or will it be a waste of money?

Kmart?

Also, I guess I would need those standalone hammocks with the metal frames on them, because I have nowhere to tie the hammock to.

Also also, I've seen hammocks with a mosquito net over the top, which would be really cool…I could sleep under the sun, without having to worry about flies and mozzys crawling up my nose.

Thoughts/Recommendations?

Realistically, I can't imagine myself spending over $80 or $90 on this novelty item.

Thanks

if you get a nylon one then don't get a red one - the sun will affect the nylon and destroy it.

    • But red hammocks go faster!

Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks! Unistudent1, there's four places. There's the Hammock Hut, that's on third, there's Hammocks-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Put-Your-Butt-There, that's on third. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot… Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the hammock complex on third.

    Boom - https://www.bunnings.com.au/sommersault-cotton-hammock_p3192…

    $10

EDIT - Just seen you want a framed one, my bad.

    • I'm considering buying htat, then majking my own frame out of timber….thoughts anyone?

      • Diy hammock what could go wrong! But I guess if you are confident in your diy skills then yeah go through with it otherwise imho personally research a reliable popular one I would start with either checking reviews on Amazon or other popular e-commerce websites or maybe camping or home backyard maybe even diy forums

  • Go around your neighborhood on clean up day; you might get one free. A lot of people think they'll use them a lot but don't.

  • I picked mine up from Big W, Double Hammock with stand (Clearance $40) I have seen them still in store but back at full price I think $80-$100 so not nearly as enticing.

The shop around the corner from us has the most enormous black cat you have ever seen, called Prince; they have put a hammock (with frame) in the front window and he often sleeps there. He is a cool cat and really cute.

  • I bought a nice woven hammock in Thailand, it was expensive, maybe $140ish but someone I met had done some research and told me they were good. Not sure if I got ripped off on the price or not but was sold the moment I lay down on it. Use it nearly everyday now to read/relax in.
