  • Who's the quickest port going to be to on a Saturday?

It's ridiculous existing customers can't use this promotion.

(Info: Currently on the old $60 12month plan and the contract has finished)

  • Can an Optus employee confirm the $40 (down to $30 with 25% off) SIM only plan is 12gb total? The website used to state 12gb (10gb + 2gb) but now it shows 8gb ("+4gb for 12 months when you buy online), yet the CIS says 10gb. Very confusing. I thought it was 12gb and was super keen to sign up. 8gb isn't really worth it.

Also, if I sign up, how quick is optus to port my number from previous carrier? I assume they wait for me to have a SIM delivered before the port takes place. I only ask as I have about 4 days on my current billing cycle and it'll be easier to just port at the start of the next one.

    • +1

The plan is 8GB with a 4GB online only bonus. The CIS should show 8GB. But you will get the extra 4GB added on as you are doing this online. Ports can take up to 4 hours. But most are much quicker. Depends on how many are going through at that time.

    • Would you be able to confirm if there will more links will be available next week as well? it will take me at least a few days to port out of optus and then come back to get this.

      • There are 11 links in the description/deal, so max 110 possible signups + at least 47 in the queue so that's 580 further spots left + employees are continuing to post links. I'd say there is little risk of running out unless Optus shuts down the promo.

        • Thanks Neil.

  • Currently have a 2.5 year old Samsung S5, tempted to get the S7 at the $65+25% disc for $48.75 with the Gear Fit. Does the 3.5Gb + 3.5Gb totaling 7gb last for the life of the plan? Or does the bonus 3.5Gb data have an expiry? Currently paying about ~$15 a week pre-paid for 1gb a month and $10 credit. Honestly don't really need more than that and my S5 runs well enough not to be replaced - albeit it has slower down a bit. Honestly haven't seen a great deal like this in a while, and it is very hard to find a sub-$50 contract with 7GB data a month plus unlimited calls/text - including a brand new $700+ phone. Really considering it, currently in my last year of uni then next year hoping to go out and work full-time, so don't really need all that credit and data until next year, although it's such a good deal may have to pull the trigger. Won't be seeing a deal like this around for sometime I'm sure. Anyone's thoughts? How often does a good deal like this pop up?

  • The terminology is confusing. Does "recontracting" mean staying on the plan after the contract is up? Will the discount stay after 12 months?
Also, will the number be ported as soon as you activate the SIM?

  • I have signed up for $40 ($30 after 25% off) which supposed to include 12 Gb. However when I login to Optus app, it shows only 8Gb. Optus customer service said that she fixed my plan to 12Gb and I would be able to see 12Gb after midnight. Logged back on after midnight and I saw still 8Gb. Anyone has the same problem?

  • Received my new S7 yesterday Afro, very quick.. thanks OP and Optus..Wife is happy with her new phone

  • I have broadband with Optus already. Will I get bundle discount on top of the 25%?

    • According to live chat you can.

  • All I have is a temporary order number, made the order on Wednesday. Anyone else in the same boat? (for the BYO sim)

Edit: nevermind just read other comments with the same issue

  • Hi All,

I need some advice on porting away from Optus post paid and back again. I'm out of contract in 2 months (Optus online chat have said I will need to pay $35 for handset plus $19.95 fee to break contract).

How do I port away and back again quickly and cheaply? i.e what provider and contract would I ask for? Do you ask for a prepaid sim? and would a bricks and mortar store be quicker than an online one?

    Thanks

    • Sorry mate. Dont think you will be able to get away with cancellation fees especially when you want to port out.
If you recontract then they may be able to waive of break fees.

    • +1

Go buy a $2 Vodafone sim from the supermarket. Go online and register the sim and put in your current mobile number and the account number on your bill. They don't do any porting on Sundays. It usually goes through in less than 4 hours. At the most 24 hours. I'd give it at least 1 day to settle before you port out again. I ported out straight away again one time and it stuffed up

      • @koplik8
I don't think that'd work as he has still 2 months left on his contract.
        @Costanza101
If you talk to someone on the chat, they should be able to waive any remaining fees and put you on any sim only plan. And then you'd be able to port out and come back again to get this offer

      • +1

        Thanks Koplik,

I did just that and went and brought a $2 Vodafone sim.

@bghunter I did speak to them on the chat and they said the only way I could keep my number was to port out to another provider. They wouldnt waive the fee unless i signed up to another (full price) contract

        • Point out to them the clause on their website about the "no cancellation fees" and you just have to pay the handset costs. That's what i did and they waived it.

        • @angelkulit025:
Thats good to know. Where abouts on their website is the clause about no cancellation fees?
I have been wanting to cancel my contract for a while and they keep saying i have to pay cancellation fees as well as handset costs. I'd be happy if it was only handset costs

        • @greenspice77: http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/phone-plans

Go to the bottom of the page and click on the details and there you will find on the cancellations.

        • @angelkulit025:
Thanks for that. I wonder if that goes for anyone on a contract or only for people on the more recent 'my plan plus' contracts that it mentions?
I hope its for everyone. How long ago did you start your contract? Did they just let you pay the handset fees and no cancellation fees to get out of it?

        • @greenspice77: my current plan suppose to finish on 16th April. I just thought to myself how can i avail this promo that's why it came to my mind about the "no cancellation fee" policy they have. I first spoke to them through chat and they've given me a credit to cancel out the fee for the cancellation. Now, i will only pay the remaining 2 months of my handset costs plus the last months bill 😁😁😁 let me know if you need any more clarification.

        • @angelkulit025: i had no luck getting them to waive the cancellation fees. They said because im on an old contract i have to pay handset and cancellation fees. They said its only on newer contracts that they waive cancellation fees :(
Was yours all organised through online chat? Or over the phone? I only tried over the phone. Very annoying considering i only have 2 months left.

        • @greenspice77: through chat and telecon as well

        • @rottwell: nope,,you cannot delay the activation. Your billing will start as soon as you received your phone. I have tried asking them to delay it but said they couldnt.

  • +2

I signed up to this offer and received a temporary order number. Then another email with a proper order number, contract information and delivery details etc. The contract and critical information summary attached doesn't mention anything about 25% off. It only mentions $65 plan and the bonus data but no mention anywhere of 25% off. Has anyone else had this happen? Now I am worried they have put me on a contract and not applied the 25% off.
Can anyone from Optus help with this?

    • I believe the discount will apply from the second bill hence why you don't see it yet?

    • Yes same here. No mention on the contract and delivery info about the 25% off.

  • This has got to be one of the best offer for a long time now.
48.75 / month for S7, 7 GB, unlimited calls and text, 150 mins international call, a free gear fit. Plus if they give me 20$ off my home phone broadband bundle then I only paid 28.75 / month which is a lot cheaper than what I am paying for my current contract. And my current contract inclusion is no where near this offer.

  • Signed up to the $40/month deal 2 or 3 weeks ago. Is there somehow I can grab this deal?

  • I asked this a couple of days ago but didn't get an answer so want to ask again. Can any optus people advise if the "try our network for 30 days" thing would apply to this deal
    http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/network/tryoptus?SID=con…

    • If any Optus employee can confirm this 30 day thing applies PM me your offer link and I'll use it

  • Just in case there aren't enough links on here… here's another https://offer.optus.com.au/employeeadvantage/offer/?in=OPTUS…

  • They changed the S7 deal, now 5.5GB not 7.

    • Must of been an early update of the webpage. It's changed back now. Its 3.5gb + 2gb extra until the 26/03/2017 until this 3.5GB offer ends.

  • This number is not eligible for this offer.
Select "Give me a new number" if you would like to take up this offer on an additional mobile service.

Porting out to Telstra prepaid this morning. keep getting message above today. when my number will be available?

  • Ordered IPhone 7 on 85$ plan for 63.75$ per month. Thanks everyone and Optus staff. I ordered via Amber's link.

  • Hi all,

I've got my 4g tablet with Amaysim at present on a payg plan with 1GB data. I asked at an Optus shop today about a data plan and was told I would need to junk my number. Except I have a premium number with Amaysim. So is my only option with Optus is to sign up for the $30 sim only phone plan in order to keep my number?

    Thanks.

    • +1

You can port it in. Just add it to the form when signing up. They told you junk.

      • Thanks singingwolf. I figured that was the case.

        • +1

Please note that as it is a "same carrier port" it may take a little longer but at least you don't lose it…

        • @singingwolf:

That's fine and indeed as you have stated at least I get to keep the number. So I take it the $15 2GB byod data sim is the cheapest option?

        • Yes, all you need is an account number from amaysim (postpaid) or DOB (prepaid) and the number. You can port your number from amaysim, that optus rep is a idiot. They also need a same carrier port CID (which is Optus's job to get) but I did mine in-store. The rep told me about the process, I don't know how online works for porting. But at the end of the day its a yes.

Yes so people don't get scammed for this shit. I will call Optus to confirm this.

        • Hope you'll buy or sign up on one of these deals after you confirmed with Optus and let us know how you go. :)

    • +2

I wonder what's your problem with this deal mate. Does that mean all the associated "employees of Optus" here on this thread are members of the scammers organisation? If this is a scam as well, why are the optus chat reps from the official Optus webpage can tell us what's going on with our orders? And how come, some of the folks here who have taken up this deal already got their mobile phones or have successfully are using their sim only plans? Next time mate, if you have an issue or grudge against Optus, take it somewhere else :) Don't try ruining a great bargain here.

    • A couple things:

      1) The URL is very suspicious (offer.optus.com.au) they had to put the word 'offer' before the Optus, because they couldn't for example use (optus.com.au/offer) because the domain name optus.com.au is already taken. So therefore (offer.optus.com.au) is a whole different domain name.

This is incorrect. Have a read of the domain name system on Wikipedia, specifically subdomains. Using OzBargain as an example, there is OzBargain and the blog located at http://blog.ozbargain.com.au/. Both are under the ozbargain.com.au domain and points to a folder in OzBargain. Or Telstra, there is https://www.telstra.com.au/ and http://servicestatus.telstra.com/ and http://business.telstra.com.au/ and loads more. So offer.optus.com.au is located within the Optus domain and is a site managed and owned by Optus.

2nd, the majority of associated reps posting their links on this thread are coming from the Optus corporate IP addresses.

  • Can one of the REP or the gurus's of OZB can confirm if my process on getting this deal seems right?
I am currently on a Optus SIM only plan with another 2 months on my contract. I will have to pay a bit of cancellation fee. ( I hope once I get the new plan optus will honour and waive the fee.)

    1. On Monday morning, I will attempt to port out my optus sim to Kogan (vodafone) network.( I have an existing unused 1$ sim card from Kogan.)
    2. I will have to provide my optus mobile number and account number instead of DOB as my existing plan is a post paid service.
    3. As per Kogan, a post paid sim port should take about 3 hours if all goes well.
    4. Hopefully after 4 or so hours my number will be ported out to Kogan (vodafone) network and my optus sim will show SOS.
    5. I will grab one of the links provided by optus employee's in here and sign up for a new SIM only plan.
    6. Will wait for Optus to send me the sim card. Activate the SIM card. Ditch the Kogan 1$ sim.

I am currently getting a 20$ off from my NBN broadband as per the bundle deal. I am guessing I will not loose the 20$ off as the sim only plans offered in here also qualifies for the 20$ off bundle deal?

As I will be an existing optus customer ( with my nbn and homephone), when I will try to sign up for this deal in here, guessing I will still be considered as a NEW CUSTOMER as I will be porting in from Kogan?

It would be great if you guys can comment on the above process.

    • +1

This would work to get the new plan, but I highly doubt you'll get any cancellation fees waived by doing it this way.

    • +1

Call them first and ask nicely to cancel or to give you credit to cancel out your cancellation fee. Don't port out without calling them first or they wouldnt waive your cancellation fee.

  • Hi Guys,

I'm new here so please excuse any indiscretions. I was on an optus month to month plan and moved to optus prepaid assuming that once I am on optus prepaid I can avail this offer. Now that I am on optus prepaid, I am getting an error saying this number is not eligible for this offer. Can anyone help me out. Note - the postpaid to prepaid conversion has happened in the last couple of days. Thanks!

    • I guess you will have to port out of optus to re enroll in optus.
Check above on the process I'm about to follow to achieve the same result as you.

    • Yeh same here. Apparently they changed something in the order process. A couple of my friends did it from prepaid mid last week and it went through smoothly but apparently now it's strictly for new services only

  • I made my order on the 01/03 and revived temp order and they can't find my order on their system.

  • port out to telstra yesterday. it was done in the morning. my number with telstra. but I still get message said that I am no eligible for this offer. what should i do? optus online chat agent told me they do not have any option for this.

    • This is what worries me.
Please provide update on your situation.

    • Port to another provider and try it again..i think that is all you can do if you really want to bring your number. Good luck!

      • Ported to kogan yesterday but still not eligible.

        • Hi Nom8352,
Any update on the sign up?

  • Has any one else been getting "An unexpected error has occurred" when trying to submit an order for a postpaid handset (S7 w/ 7GB data)? I'm guessing it is related to one of the fields I am filling out that has a value that it doesn't like but I've tried switching some around and still no luck. Tried on multiple browsers and computers as well.

    An unexpected error has occurred!

Error Message: Invalid value specified for function parameter. Function Name: SUBSTRING Parameter Name: Length Parameter Ordinal: 3 Parameter Type: Numeric Submitted Value: -1 ClientID: 6201477 JobID: 0 ListID: 0 BatchID: 0 SubcriberID: 0

Description: An unexpected error occurred during the execution of the page.

    • I just ordered mine and it all went well.

      • Thanks, despite the error a confirmation has come through quite a bit later so hopefully they cancel any duplicates!

  • Thanks everyone and specially Optus for a great deal. I will be moving to Optus after 9 years with Vodafone, I hope you will look after me as well as Vodafone did.

Just a quick question if anyone care to answer, I have submitted my order but no where it asked for my credit card information. Is it normal? I thought I would need provide my credit card details for a direct debit?

    • -1

Cc info??? Where was that? I dont recall filling up any fields which requires a cc..did you follow one of the links here?

    • Same here. I think they need to do a credit check first with our details. Once everything is approved then we can probably set up direct debit

  • Great deal, thanks to OP and optus. Moving on from vodafone also.

  • Telco will be shocked after finding out optus takes up 80% of the market after the long weekend.

  • Any estimate that how long it will take for a phone to be delivered? Also, is it possible to grab the phone from Optus store?

    • +1

mine delivered in 2 days, ordered 1/3 delivered 3/3

  • +1

Has anyone successfully been with Optus, ported to another provider (Telstra, Vodafone, etc) and then signed up for this offer?

    • +1

I would like to know this as well.

Anyone done this? or at least attempted it? Please let us know how it all went?

I am just worried that once I port out of Optus and try to sign up with this deal it will give me an error of the number not being eligible for this offer. ( guess even after porting out of Optus some sort of information is left on their system for the ported out phone numbers, at least for some time)

Actually it would be great if one of the OPTUS REP can take ownership of the questions we have and reply to the queries? Please…..

      • +1

I agree, there's lots of links being posted and little to no other effort undertaken, which is disappointing considering that each sign-up is worth $50 for them.

      • +1

        Hi Guys
This offer is unique in a way where all Optus employees may not be knowledgeable to answer your questions. (Yes I agree, not everybody will try to help as well)

I will get back to you tomorrow (actually today as it is 12 :)) with the answer if you will be eligible for this offer if you port out of Optus and port back in via this offer. Please wait until evening. Thanks

        • Thanks Amsaini15.

Kindly do get back to us asap.As I was about to port out from optus tomorrow morning. I will wait till you get back to us.

If it is possible, kindly advise on the correct process, step by step to PORT out and SIGN back in with details. and what can be done if we get an error while attempting to sign back in.

        • I ported out to Vodafone midday Saturday. I went to the Optus shop and spoke to the webchat and both said if I want to keep my number I need to Port out and in, so hopefully they didn't give the wrong info.

It is still saying "This number is not eligible for this offer". I'll post an update if anything changes

        • @Costanza101:

I have also ported out and tried to sign up and also still getting "This number is not eligible for this offer".

        • ported to telstra saturday, getting message. ported to kogan this morning again. still getting "This number is not eligible for this offer".

Similarly, if you have changed to Optus prepaid and are changing to POstpaid, please give some time. Thanks
