Westpac Altitude Platinum definition "Existing Westpac Customer" for $0 annual fee

Hi Oz Bargianers,
I am looking at applying for the Westpac Altitude Platinum credit card to get 50 000 bonus QFF points. By definition if you are an "existing Westpac customer" and click the "Apply now" button online then the $150 annual fee is waived. I have previously held Westpac credit cards therefore I have an online banking log in which remains current however currently I do not have any Westpac cards or accounts.

I have read the PDS and it does not define "existing customer". Went to a Westpac branch and they said a transaction account is not required, as long as my internet login works then I am classed as an "existing customer". I rung the Westpac credit card hotline just to double check. The operator I spoke to wasn't sure of the definition of new customer. He spoke to his supervisor and she said that "existing customer" is someone who does all their banking with Westpac giving the example of having their wages paid into their Westpac account.

I have been told 2 different things. Furthermore "existing customer" is not defined in the PDS. Anyone have any further information on this?

Thanks

  • Just open a Westpac Reward Saver. You don't even have to put any money in.

  • existing customer = 1 year plus with westpac, dosnt need to be a active account. what department did you speak with ? the applications team ? they would be able to tell you if you are eligible, ask what department the person you are speaking to is from, if they are not new apps , dont waste your time and get them to transfer you.

  • Just open a savings/transaction account online. Once confirmed, you'll then be an existing customer.

Worked for me during the last bonus Qantas FF points promo!
