The complete 2017 ozzieB financial set up

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there was a quick guide for a newbie for a complete financial set up.
I set up an interview account way back because of Ozb and was happy getting the paywave 5% but now that is completely gone I want to find the best set up to either save money or earn points etc.

I am open to all of your suggestions for everyday spending. I do not have any loans or a mortgage so just to maximise every day savings on spending.

Thanks in advance

You need only buy a high-yield investment.

I knew it.. i just knew it. why did i even bother to click.

  • I use the Coles rewards mastercard, 2 points per dollar spend equals 1% cashback on every dollar spent, plus extras from flybuys offers.
They are currently running a promo, though it seems to be targeted, so good time to get on board if you can get the deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/295654

  • Wherever it is accepted (with no surcharge), I use the free Amex Essential card, which gives a cashback of 0.741% generally-speaking. I posted about this card in detail here.

For a card without foreign transaction fees, the Citi Plus debit card comes in real handy for travel, overseas purchases and ATM withdrawal. It is rather worthwhile to have, and it is free. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for the feedback guys.
My friend has suggest getting a cokes MasterCard linked to velocity, to get the extra points.
I want to maximise return on my daily spending so any ideas are welcome.
He also spoke about the acronym app for loose change, what are your thoughts?
