Digital DAB+/FM Radio at Kmart for $14

1230

Marked as $49 (I think), but scans for $14. They had a newer model with a different box branded as "Home & Co" instead of Audiosonic, but essentially looked like it was the same unit. Link to newer model: http://www.kmart.com.au/product/dab--fm-mantle-radio/1217812

It sounds reasonable for the price. Has aux in as well for connecting your phone, etc.

Haha, yes so did I. Sorry, should have acknowledged that!

      • Ah, The Sports (1978) - tune was playing in my head, but couldn't remember the band😯

Where are the apps that can mind read?
If I sang the song to an app, it would just self-destruct🙉

Double J, one of the best stations on the planet IMHO.

    • Unfortunately most Aussie radio stations sound like they've been churned out of the same factory. As a comparison, American radio has a huge variety of genres to cater for different tastes and moods. Australian DAB brings Aussie radio one step closer by introducing Jazz, Asian pop, chill (easy listening), era based stations and even Christmas around Xmas time. I personally like SBS Jazz, Koffee, Buddha, Gorilla, Zoo, SBS Pop Asia and Christmas. I'm still waiting for a New Age channel. It's free to air, requires no CD player, playlist or internet connection. I use DAB for the additional stations rather than the sound quality as most DAB radios annoyingly only store 10 DAB channels.

Don't think I can get RT on DAB.
    Too bad.

So - anyone found old stock at this price?

No reports of anyone finding this deal's units.
Just reports of new stock @$49.
OP seems the only one to find this deal😢

If anybody wants to try their luck, I had seen this model in Kmart Merrylands for $10 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/243622 but like I mentioned earlier the sound quality and reception is not the best.

…pretty disappointing 'deal'. im not sure why everyone is so keen to upvote deals prematurely with such limited stock…really makes no sense?

      • +2

Lots of discussion, but almost no stock found - not enough for deal.

Didn't upvote deal unless stock was shown to be available in enough quantity. This happens in a few deals - almost annoying.

      I got one..!

        Enjoy😯

  • Lots of new stock at Colonnades SA, but scans at $49

    • Like others have found - not the old stock (black carton) in this deal.

and yet you still upvoted the deal?

  • Got one about a year ago. Can vouch for it. Picks up digital radio without a hitch. Occasionally the signal seems to struggle a bit, but that's when the antenna isn't raised at all. Raise it a bit and it's always fixed it. Good speaker quality, can set alarm. Major issue would be the LCD brightness - it doesn't dim ever! If it's next to the bed at night I've often had to turn it around or turn it off else I couldn't get to sleep. Solidly built, fully expect it'll last me a few years yet.

  • Kmart Woodridge had 4 in stock. Quote the product number off the receipt provided.

Picked up 2 of the 4. Thanks OP.

    Thanks IMFugl,

Today I went to the K Mart in Tuggeronong, ACT.

There were plenty of Audiosonic DAB+ radios on the shelves. The prices marked on the shelves were $35 and $40.

I scanned one of them and it was priced at $10, so I bought it.

It will replace my 3 year old Aldi DAB+ radio which has died.

I find the mono sound quality to be fine. The volume is sufficient to hear it in a room.

    • DAGNAMIT

why didn't I get this response sooner, that's the store I checked, and they only had the new 1s, that scanned at full price.
might check on my coffee break.

Able to confirm that Orange, NSW today (9th March) had around 8 units left and they are indeed scanning at $14 (beware the newer $49 models also nearby).

  • Yesterday, I went to the K Mart in Belconnen, ACT.

There were no Audiosonic DAB+ radios on the shelves.

The cheapest DAB+ radio was $29.
